Friday,  25 April 2008

 RACE 1:  MAIDEN - 1200M

PERFECT ALIGN (R Stewart) and STYLE CONSCIOUS (G De Souza) were both slow to begin.

SKY STONE (App HK Cheng) began awkwardly, shifted outwards and bumped the hindquarters of EXPRESSARDO (App SH Low).

SKY STONE showed no early pace.

Near the 800m, BIG SMILE (B Vorster) shifted inwards abruptly away from VICTORY FLAMES (D Chee) resulting in WINNER CIRCLE (App J Farook) being steadied and PERFECT ALIGN, which was following, also being hampered.

MOONLIGHT (J Saimee) was obliged to race wide throughout.

Near the 300m, VICTORY FLAMES and BIG SMILE bumped heavily.

Shortly after passing the 200m, WINNER CIRCLE was checked away from the heels of EXPRESSARDO. BIG SMILE, which was following, was hampered and carried wider on the track. An Inquiry into this incident will be held at a date to be fixed.

MOUNTAIN RAIDER (Din Azis) was impounded for routine veterinary and analytical examination. The Veterinary Surgeon reported no apparent abnormality.

 RACE 2:  RESTRICTED MAIDEN - 1200M

ARKADIAN BOY (D Beasley) began awkwardly and lost ground.

DIGITALIS (M Gallagher) was slow to begin.

Near the 1100m, IMPERIAL GREEN (R Stewart) momentarily steadied away from the heels of HEY TORO (J Saimee), which shifted inwards slightly.

Near the 1000m, XENOLITH GOLD (App M Ewe) steadied away from the heels of HEY TORO, which shifted inwards slightly. IMPERIAL GREEN, which was following, was hampered in consequence. Jockey Saimee was subsequently shown the film of the incident and warned to exercise greater care when shifting ground in future.

Approaching the 800m, XENOLITH GOLD, which was overracing, steadied when awkwardly placed on the heels of CLASSIC KEY (A Fiezan). WELSH QUEEN (O Chavez), which was following, also steadied as a result of this incident.

DORADO JOY (Din Azis) was obliged to race wide throughout.

Near the 400m, DIGITALIS steadied when disappointed for a run between MISSION PERFECTUS (E Legrix) to its outside and CORONADO’S PRIDE (App J Farook) to its inside, which in turn was carried outwards by WELSH QUEEN, which shifted outwards away from IMPERIAL GREEN.

Over the concluding stages, IMPERIAL GREEN had difficulty obtaining a clear run.

A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on DORADO JOY which revealed no apparent abnormality.

 RACE 3:  CLASS 4, DIV 2 - 1400M

THANKS FOR MEMORY (App SH Low) and LUCKY NINETY-NINE (B Vorster) bumped on jumping.

Shortly after the start, RAINERA (App KK Ng) steadied when crowded between DAN NOBLE (J Powell) to its outside and TRICKY MASTER (A Fiezan), which was carried outwards by THAT’S MONEY (S John).

Near the 1200m, VICTORY STAR (O Chavez) checked while racing to the inside of ZINWONN (App J Farook). An Inquiry into this incident will be held at a date to be fixed.

Near the 1000m, DUMAR (D Beasley), which was racing keenly, steadied away from the heels of CARRY ON SMILE (Din Azis).

Passing the 800m, ZINWONN steadied when crowded to the inside of LUCKY NINETY-NINE, which shifted inwards abruptly away from RAINERA.

Approaching the 400m, ZINWONN steadied whilst racing close to the heels of LUCKY NINETY-NINE and SHINJU STAR (M Gallagher).

In the straight, THAT’S MONEY was inclined to lay outwards under pressure.

An Inquiry into the riding of TRICKY MASTER over the concluding stages will be held at a date to be fixed.

THAT’S MONEY was impounded for routine veterinary and analytical examination. The Veterinary Surgeon reported that the horse returned with a speedy cut on its near-hind.

 RACE 4:  CLASS 5 - 1100M (SAND)

HANAUMA BAY (S John), SPARKLING WATER (App M Airy) and IRISH LUCK (E Aslam) were all slow to begin.

Passing the 600m, when GOLD POOL (M Kellady) shifted outwards to improve, SKY DRAGON BIRD (App M Ewe) was inconvenienced and carried wider on the track.

In the straight, KING OF VICTORY (A Fiezan) hung outwards under pressure.

Approaching the 350m, Jockey Aslam, the rider of IRISH LUCK, dropped his whip. He was subsequently warned that a repetition of dropping his whip may lead to a penalty being imposed in future.

The Veterinary Surgeon reported that ZLATKO (R Woodworth) bled. In terms of MRA Rule 92(3), it will not be permitted to canter or gallop on the main training tracks of any racecourse for a period of two months, and may not start in any race for a period of three months, and then only after having satisfactorily passed a bleeder’s test.

Jockey John, the rider of HANAUMA BAY, reported that his horse was not striding out freely. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormality.

 RACE 5:  CLASS 4 - 1600M

Jockey A Fiezan was fined S$200 for negligence in terms of MRA Rule 152(5)(a) in that he failed to inform Trainer L Treloar of his inability to ride PRECISE at the correct weight.

GOLDSCHATZ (M Gallagher) was slow to begin.

SWIFT STRIKE (App KK Ng) was obliged to race wide throughout.

At the top of the homestraight, TITAN DELIGHT (B Vorster) checked whilst racing to the inside of SWIFT STRIKE and to the outside of GALLERIA (D Beasley). An Inquiry into this incident will be held at a date to be fixed.

From the 350m until the 150m, WELCOME BACK (App M Ewe) was held up and unable to improve.

The Farrier reported that PRECISE returned having cast its off-hind plate.

Jockey J Saimee, the rider of READY TO GO, reported that his horse was not striding out freely. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormality. READY TO GO, which raced poorly, will be required to pass a 1000m gallop trial and veterinary examination prior to being entered to race again.

TITAN DELIGHT was impounded for routine veterinary and analytical examination. The Veterinary Surgeon reported no apparent abnormality.

 RACE 6:  CLASS 5 - 1600M (SAND)

Acting on veterinary advice that BENGAWAN (O Chavez) was found to be lame off-fore, the Race Meeting Stewards ordered its withdrawal at 2029Hrs. In terms of MRA Regulation 24.2, it must be presented to an Official Veterinary Surgeon prior to being declared to race again.

Near the 1500m, DRAGON SWORD (D Chee) checked whilst racing to the inside of HAPPY FEELINGS (Din Azis). An Inquiry into this incident will be held at a date to be fixed.

DRAGON SWORD raced keenly in the early and middle stages.

STRIVING HEART (V Sivan) raced wide until the 800m.

Approaching the 800m, EXTRA POWER (App J Farook) steadied when momentarily crowded to the inside of SUPER EXPRESS (D Beasley), which in turn was racing tight to the inside of LION CITY PRINCE (App M Ewe).

Jockey A Fiezan, the rider of GOOD PERFORMANCE, was reminded of his obligations to ride all his mounts out fully to the end of the race.

MAXIM GUN (J Saimee) was impounded for routine veterinary and analytical examination. The Veterinary Surgeon reported no apparent abnormality.

Jockey Beasley, when questioned regarding SUPER EXPRESS racing back in the field today, stated that he had been instructed to go forward if possible but from a wide barrier and with runners to his inside improving, he elected to steady and take a rearward position in order to avoid being caught excessively wide. His explanation was noted.

 RACE 7:  KRANJI STAKES B - 1400M

RAUL (App SH Low) was slow to begin.

Shortly after the start, SMART CONQUEROR (Alan Ng) steadied when crowded between LIM’S ZERPERB (A Fiezan) and LION CITY HERO (App M Ewe).

Near the 1000m, ONENINETYFIVE (J Saimee) checked whilst racing to the inside of BAMBAAZON (R Stewart), which in turn was racing to the inside of LIM’S ZERPERB. An Inquiry into this incident will be held at a date to be fixed.

Near the 400m, BAMBAAZON checked whilst racing to the inside of ONENINETYFIVE. An Inquiry into this incident will be held at a date to be fixed.

Near the 300m, SCHMEICHEL (B Vorster) checked whilst racing to the inside of LION CITY HERO and to the outside of KING AND INFINITE (R Woodworth) and ONENINETYFIVE. An Inquiry into this incident will be held at a date to be fixed.

KING AND INFINITE was impounded for routine veterinary and analytical examination. The Veterinary Surgeon reported that the horse exhibited signs of respiratory distress after the race. KING AND INFINITE will be required to pass a 1000m gallop trial and veterinary examination prior to being entered to race again.

 RACE 8:  CLASS 4 - 1000M (SAND)

Jockey A Fiezan was fined S$200 for negligence in terms of MRA Rule 152(5)(a) in that he failed to inform Trainer L Treloar of his inability to ride KING TOWKAY at the correct weight.

KING TOWKAY jumped awkwardly, shifted inwards and became awkward on the heels of POSTMAN TALES (G McKeon).

Subsequent veterinary examinations were requested on ASIAN CHIEF (E Legrix) and POSTMAN TALES which revealed no apparent abnormality.

 RACE 9:  CLASS 4, DIV 1 - 1400M

BUGSY (App SH Low) and COURAGEOUS HORSE (App HK Cheng) were both slow to begin.

PIERCING (M Kellady) raced wide from the 600m.

App Cheng, the rider of COURAGEOUS HORSE, reported that his horse was not striding out freely. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormality.

LUCKY EXPRESS (E Legrix) was impounded for routine veterinary and analytical examination. The Veterinary Surgeon reported no apparent abnormality.

SUNDAY, 20 APRIL 2008:

RACE 3 [TF465]

On Monday, 21 April 2008, the Stewards concluded an Inquiry into the reasons for LIM’S CRUSIER (A Fiezan) having to check when racing between LUMINOUS DRAGON (App S Cheam) on its outside and KINGTRAP (App M Ewe) and FIGHT TO LIVE (N Callow) on its inside. MSIXTEEN, which was following, was severely inconvenienced in consequence. It was established that near the 800m, FIGHT TO LIVE hung outwards carrying KINGTRAP out onto LIM’S CRUISER. At the same time, LUMINOUS DRAGON hung inwards despite the efforts of its rider resulting in LIM’S CRUISER clipping the heels of LUMINOUS DRAGON blundering and losing ground. In the circumstances, the Stewards could attribute no blame to any rider. However, all riders were reminded to exercise care when shifting ground in future.

RACE 5 [TF467]
At the conclusion of an Inquiry on Monday, 21 April 2008, App T Affandi, the rider of PROMISE ME GOLD, in the presence of his Master Trainer S Burridge, was found guilty a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(c) in that whilst riding PROMISE ME GOLD in the fifth race at the Singapore Turf Club Meeting on Sunday, 20 April 2008, near the 1300m, he permitted his mount to shift inwards, when insufficiently clear of GO FOR GOLD (M Gallagher), which steadied and lost ground.

App Affandi, in the presence of his Master Trainer S Burridge, was also found guilty to another charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(c) in that whilst riding PROMISE ME GOLD in the fifth race at the Singapore Turf Club Meeting on Sunday, 20 April 2008, near the 1250m, he permitted his mount to shift inwards, when insufficiently clear of EL DORADO (A Fiezan), which steadied and lost ground.

When deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into account his record and the degree of interference and carelessness.

On the first charge, App Affandi was suspended from riding in races with immediate effect from Monday, 21 April 2008 to Sunday, 27 April 2008 both dates inclusive (three Race Days).

On the second charge, App Affandi was suspended from riding in races from Monday, 28 April 2008 to Sunday, 04 May 2008 both dates inclusive (three Race Days).

As such, these two penalties will be served consecutively. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

RACE 5 [TF467]

When deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into account his record and the degree of interference and carelessness. Jockey Soo was suspended from riding in races with immediate effect from Monday, 21 April 2008 to Sunday, 27 April 2008 both dates inclusive (three Race Days) and was advised of his Right of Appeal.
