APRIL (QUEEN ELIZABETH II CUP) MEETING
Sunday,  20 April 2008

 RACE 1:  CHARITY TROPHY,  CLASS 5 - 1400M

SILENCE TOUCH (App J Farook) was slow to begin.

KING PHARAOH (App M Razali) was crowded on jumping between SILVER ARROW (App HK Cheng) and CHARMING ANGEL (App SH Low), which began awkwardly and shifted outwards abruptly.

SILENT WISH (D Chee) and KISMET (J Powell) bumped on jumping.

KING PHARAOH was obliged to race wide throughout.

In the straight, TEXTER (App KK Ng) laid inwards placing its rider at a disadvantage.

Over the concluding stages, BE WITH YOU (App M Zaki) steadied when racing tight between SILENT WISH and TEXTER.

 RACE 2:  IMC COMMUNITY CUP,  RESTRICTED MAIDEN - 1600M

GRANDE SWIFT (A Fiezan), which was difficult to be loaded, will be required to pass one starting stall test prior to being entered to race again in terms of MRA Rule 78(2).

GOLDEN LARKSPUR (M Gallagher) jumped away awkwardly.

After passing the 1200m, CALL D’LIMIT (J Saimee) and ZINKU (J Powell) both commenced to overrace. Shortly after, ZINKU got its head up after being steadied when racing up onto the heels of MAN IN BLACK (R Stewart). As a result, ZINKU shifted inwards carrying CALL D’LIMIT onto ARBITRATOR (N Callow), which checked and lost considerable ground.

App T Affandi, the rider of CELESTIAL BLUE, reported that his horse was not striding out freely. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormality.

Jockey Callow, when questioned regarding the apparent poor performance of ARBITRATOR, stated that after being crowded in the backstraight, ARBITRATOR had not travelled well and failed to run on when placed under pressure. Whilst noting his explanation, Jockey Callow was reminded regarding riding all his mounts out fully to the Finish in future. ARBITRATOR was impounded for routine veterinary and analytical examination. The Veterinary Surgeon reported no apparent abnormality.

 RACE 3:  EASTPORT GOODWILL TROPHY,  CLASS 4 - 1200M

Permission was granted for Jockey D Chee to replace Jockey Din Azis on MSIXTEEN as the latter was unable to make the weight. Jockey Azis was fined S$500 in terms of MRA Rule 107(9) for having accepted the ride on MSIXTEEN for which he was unable to make the correct weight.

GRECIAN (E Aslam) lost ground after jumping away awkwardly.

Near the 800m, LIM’S CRUISER (A Fiezan) checked when racing between LUMINOUS DRAGON (App S Cheam) on its outside and KINGTRAP (App M Ewe) and FIGHT TO LIVE (N Callow) on its inside. MSIXTEEN, which was following, was severely inconvenienced in consequence. An Inquiry into this incident will be held at a date to be fixed.

Approaching the 600m, KINGTRAP steadied when racing to the inside of LUMINOUS DRAGON, which laid inwards.

Near the 300m, BETTER TIMES (M Kellady) eased when crowded between SHADOW KING (J Saimee), which shifted outwards and FIGHT TO LIVE, which hung inwards.

FIGHT TO LIVE hung inwards over the final 200m.

A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on SIGNATURE BEAUTY (D Beasley) which revealed no apparent abnormality.

DRAGON GATE (R Woodworth) was impounded for routine veterinary and analytical examination. The Veterinary Surgeon reported no apparent abnormality. DRAGON GATE, which raced poorly, will be required to pass a 1000m gallop trial and veterinary examination prior to being entered to race again.

 RACE 4:  COMPASSION TROPHY,  CLASS 4 - 2000M

SUPER SUNDAY (E Legrix), IT’S MY MAGIC (J Saimee) and WELCOME CHANGE (A Fiezan) were all slow to begin.

Near the 800m, TRIPLE SEVEN (App J Farook) steadied when crowded to the inside of ACT LIKE ME (R Woodworth), which in turn was bumped by SUPER SUNDAY.

STARRY FIRE (S Anandan) was obliged to race wide throughout.

Near the 300m, BIG OCCASION (J Powell) steadied when disappointed for a run between WELCOME CHANGE and KIPADI (R Stewart).

 RACE 5:  PFA FINANCIAL PROSPERITY TROPHY, CLASS 3 - 1600M

EL DORADO (A Fiezan) and RISING SPIRIT (J Saimee) bumped on jumping.

VICTORY CONQUEROR (App J Farook) was slow to begin.

Near the 1400m, GO FOR GOLD (M Gallagher) eased off the heels of PROMISE ME GOLD (App T Affandi), which shifted inwards. Shortly after, EL DORADO also had to be eased off the heels of PROMISE ME GOLD, which shifted inwards. Inquiries into these incidents will be held at a date to be fixed.

Approaching the 1000m, VICTORY CONQUEROR checked when racing to the inside of PIN NUMBER (KB Soo). An Inquiry into this incident will be held at a date to be fixed.

RISING SPIRIT had difficulty obtaining a clear run in the early part of the straight.

A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on KING OF HONOUR (E Legrix) which revealed no apparent abnormality.

 RACE 6:  HUANG PROSPERITY TROPHY,  OPEN - 1400M

Acting on veterinary advice that KING AND KING (KB Soo) was found to be lame near-hind, the Race Meeting Stewards ordered its withdrawal at 1245Hrs. In terms of MRA Regulation 24.2, it must be presented to an Official Veterinary Surgeon prior to being declared to race again.

Permission was granted for App J Farook to replace Jockey Din Azis on AMADEUS MOZART as the latter was unable to make the weight and as there was no similar claiming rider available. Jockey Azis was fined S$500 in terms of MRA Rule 107(9) for having accepted the ride on AMADEUS MOZART for which he was unable to make the correct weight.

BRECKENRIDGE (B Vorster) began awkwardly.

AMADEUS MOZART brushed the running rail near the 1300m.

Near the 900m, GRADUATE BOY (S Anandan) steadied when momentarily tightened to the inside of STORM STRIKE (A Fiezan). Jockey Fiezan was subsequently shown the film of the incident and warned to exercise greater care when shifting ground in future.

After passing the 900m, ZINLY (R Stewart), which was racing keenly, shifted outwards. At the same time, RECAST (N Callow) rolled inwards. This resulted in EMPEROR COMMANDS (D Chee) being crowded and losing ground. In the circumstances, the Stewards could not attribute any blame to any rider. However, all riders were reminded of their obligations when shifting ground in future.

GRADUATE BOY hung outwards in the hometurn.

JADE (App S Cheam) hung inwards in the straight and proved difficult to ride out.

App Cheam, the rider of JADE, was fined S$500 for making a celebratory gesture prior to the Finish in terms of MRA Rule 44(10).

 RACE 7:  QUEEN ELIZABETH II CUP - 2000M

RUWI (R Woodworth), which stood flat-footed and lost considerable ground, will be required to pass one starting stall test prior to being entered to race again in terms of MRA Rule 78(2).

TOP SPIN (N Callow) hung inwards in the straight.

Near the 200m, Jockey Din Azis, the rider of ITMAYBEYOU, dropped his off-side rein.

After initially questioning Jockey Callow and Jockey J Powell regarding the riding of their respective mounts, TOP SPIN and WORLD DELIGHT, the matter was adjourned to a date to be fixed.

A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on ROYAL ADMIRAL (G McKeon) which revealed that the horse returned lame near-fore. ROYAL ADMIRAL will be required to pass a 1000m gallop trial and veterinary examination prior to being entered to race again.

 RACE 8:  SPIRITUALITY CUP,  CLASS 3 - 1400M

DESTINY’S DAY (R Woodworth), which was slow to begin, was crowded shortly after between WHITE LIGHTNING (Din Azis) and PACKET EXPRESS (A Fiezan), which was carried outwards by FOREST SPIRIT (J Powell), which was in turn bumped by MANUKA (R Stewart), which began awkwardly and shifted outwards.

PACKET EXPRESS hung outwards throughout.

Making the turn into the straight, DESTINY’S DAY and MANUKA made contact when racing tight.

Approaching the 200m, QUEEN’S AVENUE (App M Ewe), which was inclined to hang inwards, was inconvenienced and had to be eased off the heels of WHITE LIGHTNING, which rolled outwards.

 RACE 9:  POETRY OF SENSES TROPHY,  CLASS 3 - 1200M

Trainer D Hill was advised that a warning has been placed on MIGHTY SERVANT (D Beasley) regarding its barrier manners and to take steps to improve them or action may be taken in future.

BEST WEAPON (J Saimee), which was slightly slow to begin, was crowded shortly after between SCREAMING EAGLE (J Powell) and BALESTIER (App SH Low), which shifted outwards when bumped by AL NADER (E Legrix).

Near the 1000m, SOLID IMPACT (M Kellady) steadied away from the heels of RICHEST GIFT (B Vorster), which shifted inwards momentarily.

BALESTIER hung outwards after passing the 800m.

Shortly after making the turn into the homestraight, MIGHTY SERVANT struck the running rail when racing tight to the inside of BALESTIER.

Jockey Kellady, the rider of SOLID IMPACT, accidentally dropped his whip shortly after straightening. He was subsequently warned that a repetition of dropping his whip may lead to a penalty being imposed in future.

RICHEST GIFT and MY FACE (R Stewart) both struck the running rail after the 400m.

SOLID IMPACT, which raced poorly, will be required to pass a 1000m gallop trial and veterinary examination prior to being entered to race again.

A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on AL NADER which revealed no apparent abnormality.

 RACE 10:  HUMANITY TROPHY,  GRADUATION - 1400M

GOLDEN TIGER (App M Ewe) and CONQUER TIME (R Woodworth) were both slow to begin.

Shortly after the start, RUSSIAN SAFARI (D Beasley) steadied when crowded between THE HORNET (G McKeon) and PENT IN TIME (B Vorster).

Near the 600m, RUSSIAN SAFARI shifted inwards abruptly, became unbalanced and lost ground.

ACE ARRIBA (J Saimee) was held up for a clear run between the 200m and the 100m.
