 RACE 1:  MAIDEN - 1100M (POLYTRACK)

ERNIE (B Vorster) was restless in the barrier. Trainer D Hill was advised that a warning has been placed on ERNIE regarding its barrier manners and to take steps to improve them or action may be taken in future.

PACIFIC GIFT (KK Ng) jumped inwards at the start making contact with ERNIE.

SAFIN (App T Affandi) was slow to begin after jumping away awkwardly.

Shortly after making the turn into the straight, DARK KNIGHT (J Powell) was crowded between MAGIC WORLD (Alan Ng) and HIGH CENTENNIAL (O Chavez), which rolled outwards.

Approaching the 300m, MAGIC WORLD shifted inwards under pressure making contact with HIGH CENTENNIAL on a couple of occasions. Jockey Alan Ng was subsequently shown the film of the incident and warned to exercise greater care when shifting ground in future.

SINTHREE (KB Soo), which hung inwards in the straight, placing its rider at a disadvantage, was also unable to secure clear running for the majority of the straight.

AFT BURNER (A Fiezan) and MY PAPPARICH (J Moreira) both laid inwards in the straight.

 RACE 2:  RESTRICTED MAIDEN - 1100M (POLYTRACK)

TWIN ACE (V Duric) and RISING EXPECTATION (KB Soo) bumped on jumping.

PRIMERA ESPADA (J Moreira) was slow to begin.

TWIN ACE raced keenly in the early and middle stages.

PRIMERA ESPADA raced wide from the 600m.

Making the turn into the straight, SHEN KIM (O Chavez) shifted outwards, carrying PRIMERA ESPADA wider on the track.

 RACE 3:  CLASS 4 - 1600M

SUN DAZZLE (App TH Koh) was slow to begin.

STANZOUT (J Moreira) was difficult to settle in the early stages.

FINSTOCK ROAD (B Vorster) had difficulty obtaining a clear run in the early part of the straight and approaching the 300m, shifted inwards to obtain clear running and in so doing, hampered BUKIT MAS (R Stewart). Jockey Vorster was subsequently shown the film of the incident and warned to exercise greater care when shifting ground in future.

Over the concluding stages, FINSTOCK ROAD and BUKIT MAS brushed on a couple of occasions when racing tight.

Jockey O Chavez, the rider of DORADO JOY, stated that after jumping well, he found himself racing in a more forward position than anticipated.

Jockey D Beasley, the rider of ZAC COERCION, reported that his horse was not striding out freely. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormality.

Jockey A Fiezan, the rider of ACE AMANTE, reported that his horse was not striding out freely. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormality. ACE AMANTE, which raced poorly, will be required to pass a 1000m gallop trial and veterinary examination prior to being entered to race again.

BENJI’S PRIDE (App S Ruzaini) was impounded for routine veterinary and analytical examination. The Veterinary Surgeon reported no apparent abnormality.

 RACE 4:  INITIATION - 1600M

HE’S GREAT (B Vorster) and THE KATHUMPA (E Aslam) bumped on jumping.

SHOGUN (V Duric) and FRANCO (Alan Ng) were both difficult to settle in the early and middle stages.

Approaching the 1000m, THE KATHUMPA, which was racing keenly, shifted inwards bumping HE’S GREAT, which became unbalanced.

Near the 800m, SHOGUN eased when racing between YUNO WHEN (J Powell) and FAMOUS THAN U (J Moreira). At a subsequent Inquiry, it was established that near the 800m, FAMOUS THAN U rolled inwards and that at the same time, YUNO WHEN steadied back slightly, this resulted in SHOGUN being crowded and having to be eased. In the circumstances, no blame could be attributed to any rider and as such, no further action was taken. However, Jockey Moreira was warned and advised that he must exercise greater care when shifting ground in future.

FRANCO raced wide without cover throughout.

OBLIVION (KB Soo) was unable to secure a clear run between the 400m and the 100m.

Shortly after passing the 300m, FRANCO, which was inclined to lay outwards momentarily crowded THE KATHUMPA.

Near the 150m, when racing tight, YUNO WHEN was struck on the head by the whip of Jockey R Stewart, the rider of SURGESS.

 RACE 5:  NOVICE - 1200M

TORPEDO (KB Soo) was difficult to be loaded. Trainer J Meagher was advised that a warning has been placed on TORPEDO regarding its barrier manners and to take steps to improve them or action may be taken in future.

PRINCE GOLDHEART (O Chavez) lost ground after jumping away awkwardly.

Shortly after the start, NICHOLSON (R Fradd) and SRIJANA (App M Airy) were crowded between TORPEDO and MAPLE STAR (J Powell), which shifted inwards marginally.

NICHOLSON was difficult to settle and approaching the 1000m, had to be eased off the heels of SRIJANA.

Shortly after passing the 400m, TORPEDO laid inwards marginally making contact with the hind-quarters of MAPLE STAR, resulting in that gelding being turned outwards and shifting outwards, hampering TORPEDO.

An Objection was lodged by Jockey KB Soo, the rider of second placed horse, TORPEDO, against MAPLE STAR, being declared the winner, on the grounds of interference over the final 400m. After considering all of the evidence and after deliberation, the Race Meeting Stewards were of the opinion that the alleged interference had not affected the result of the race and the Objection was overruled. The result stood and Jockey Soo’s deposit was refunded.

MAPLE STAR raced greenly over the final 200m and had a tendency to lay outwards.

The Veterinary Surgeon reported that PRINCE GOLDHEART had returned with the saddle having slipped back during the running of the race.

 RACE 6:  CLASS 5 - 1100M (POLYTRACK)

Due to an objection in Race 5, this race was put back five minutes and rescheduled to start at 1610Hrs.

QUEEN OF HEARTS (R Stewart) reared as the start was effected and as a result, lost considerable ground. QUEEN OF HEARTS will be required to pass one starting stall test prior to being entered to race again in terms of MRA Rule 78(2).

SMART LEADER (App A Feiruz), which was restless in the barrier, was slow to begin.

LION CITY TYCOON (O Chavez) jumped inwards at the start, inconveniencing LUCKY SUN (Alan Ng) and CASINO ROYALE (V Duric).

Approaching the 800m, KICK-IN TURBO (App TH Koh) steadied when racing tight to the inside of CHAPTER TWO (J Moreira).

Near the 100m, GATE CRASHER (App JL Li) was momentarily inconvenienced when CASINO ROYALE shifted inwards under pressure.

Jockey Chavez was subsequently examined by the Course Medical Officer and stood down for the remainder of the day.

 RACE 7:  KRANJI STAKES C - 1400M

Due to an objection in Race 5, this race was put back five minutes and rescheduled to start at 1640Hrs.

FLYING LANGFUHR (E Aslam) was slow to begin.

BEST BID (J Moreira) laid inwards in the straight obliging its rider to stop riding and straighten his mount on a couple of occasions.

The Veterinary Surgeon reported that JALOUX (R Fradd) bled. In terms of MRA Rule 92(3), it will not be permitted to canter or gallop on the main training tracks of any racecourse for a period of two months, and may not start in any race for a period of three months, and then only after having satisfactorily passed a bleeder’s test.

 RACE 8:  PROGRESS - 1600M

Due to an objection in Race 5, this race was put back five minutes and rescheduled to start at 1710Hrs.

ETERNAL HONOUR (KB Soo) was difficult to settle in the backstraight.

WONDER (B Vorster) laid inwards in the straight.

 RACE 9:  CLASS 2 - 1200M

Due to an objection in Race 5, this race was put back five minutes and rescheduled to start at 1740Hrs.

MY HERO (V Duric) was restless in the barrier. Trainer B Dean was advised that a warning has been placed on MY HERO regarding its barrier manners and to take steps to improve them or action may be taken in future.

BE A MAN (J Powell) was slow to begin.

TUMBULGUM (D Beasley) jumped awkwardly inwards and in so doing, bumped DR LEMON (R Fradd) in onto MY HERO, which was crowded and lost ground.

Shortly after passing the 1000m, DIPLOMATIC STRIKE (J Moreira) checked when crowded to the inside of PERFECT SKY (R Stewart), which shifted in and away from TUMBULGUM and at the same time, MY HERO checked off the heels of DR LEMON, which shifted in and away from BEST KNIGHT (App SH Low).

The Farrier reported that TUMBULGUM returned having cast its off-fore plate.

PERFECT SKY was impounded for routine veterinary and analytical examination. The Veterinary Surgeon reported no apparent abnormality.

 RACE 10:  CLASS 4 - 1000M (POLYTRACK)

MR HAPPY (A Fiezan) was difficult to be loaded. Trainer D Kok was advised that a warning has been placed on MR HAPPY regarding its barrier manners and to take steps to improve them or action may be taken in future.

SPIDER KING (D Beasley) shifted outwards on jumping and made contact with POWERFUL MATCH (KB Soo).

JACK OF DIAMONDS (R Stewart) was slow to begin.

SHING YI (V Duric) raced wide without cover throughout.

JACK OF DIAMONDS collapsed just prior to the Winning Post, the Veterinary Surgeon reported that JACK OF DIAMONDS suffered from a heart attack, resulting in its collapsing and dying.

TREASURE HUNTER (Alan Ng) was impounded for routine veterinary and analytical examination. The Veterinary Surgeon reported no apparent abnormality.

 RACE 11:  CLASS 4 - 1400M

QUEEN NARCISSUS (App M Ewe) was slow to begin.

FANTASTIC KNIGHT (M Gallagher) jumped awkwardly inwards.

Approaching the 1000m, THREE KINGS (KK Ng) mis-strode and made contact with FANTASTIC KNIGHT.

MR MERCIFUL (J Powell) was impounded for routine veterinary and analytical examination. The Veterinary Surgeon reported no apparent abnormality.

The Stewards concluded an Inquiry on Saturday, 20 February 2010 into the riding of ROSSINI KING. After taking further evidence from Jockey T Ong and Trainer J Meagher, it was established that ROSSINI KING, after receiving crowding on jumping, the gelding settled in rearward position in accordance with its established racing pattern. It was further stated that after straightening, ROSSINI KING was inclined to lay in noticeably and as the gelding was resuming from a bleeding attack, Jockey Ong stated that he became concerned and as such, he was reluctant to place the horse under severe pressure in the early part of the straight. He added that over the final 250m, ROSSINI KING commenced to race true and he rode the gelding hard hands and heels to the line. The Stewards noted Jockey Ong’s explanations but did advise him his ride was of concern to the Stewards and he was warned and advised to ride his mount to leave no room for query.

RACE 3 [TF237]

At the conclusion of an Inquiry on Saturday, 20 February 2010, App S Ruzaini, the rider of SADDLE THE WIND, in the presence of his Acting Master, Trainer S Burridge, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that whilst riding SADDLE THE WIND in the third race at the Singapore Turf Club Meeting on Friday, 19 February 2010, approaching the 1000m, he did permit his mount to shift inwards, when insufficiently clear of NADAL (Alan Ng), which was crowded and checked. When deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into account his record, guilty plea, degree of interference, carelessness and submissions from App Ruzaini that he has been engaged to ride at the Perak Race Meetings on Sunday, 21 February 2010, Saturday, 27 February 2010 and Sunday, 28 February 2010 and Singapore Race Meeting on Friday, 26 February 2010.  The Stewards determined to suspend his licence to ride in races and acting under MRA Rule 48(5), the commencement of the suspension was deferred to begin on Monday, 01 March 2010 until Sunday, 07 March 2010 both dates inclusive (three Race Days).  He was advised of his Right of Appeal.
