Friday,  18 November 2011

 RACE 1:  CLASS 4 - 1600M

CORSAGE (App R Shafiq) was slow to begin and shortly after the start, had to be steadied off the heels of BORN TO FLY (S John), which shifted inwards.

SOCIAL NETWORK (O Chavez), which was crowded on jumping between KOBE TOP GUN (App CS Chin) and AMAZON BOY (S Sam), got its head up when being eased approaching the 1500m.

LONG HAUL (J Moreira) raced keenly in the early stages.

BORN THE FLY was momentarily baulked for a clear run near the 250m.

Passing the 200m, CHASE ME (J Verenzuela) laid inwards under pressure.

KOBE TOP GUN was impounded for routine veterinary and analytical examination. The Veterinary Surgeon reported no apparent abnormality.

 RACE 2:  RESTRICTED MAIDEN - 1400M

DRUNKEN PARTNERS (R Woodworth), which was slow to begin, was inconvenience on jumping when NINETYFIVE ROCKET (D Beasley) jumped awkwardly inwards.

NEWFOUNDJOY (E Aslam) and AWAKENED (S John) bumped shortly after the start. AWAKENED then raced keenly in the backstraight.

Making the turn into the straight, CHINESE CULTURE (J Powell) and AWAKENED bumped.

Jockey S John, when questioned regarding the run of AWAKENED, stated that the gelding raced keenly in the early stages and failed to run on when placed under pressure. He further stated that in his opinion, AWAKENED did not handle the track conditions. His explanation was noted. AWAKENED was impounded for routine veterinary and analytical examination. The Veterinary Surgeon reported no apparent abnormality.

 RACE 3:  CLASS 4, DIV 1 - 1200M

HUMOR TOWN (O Chavez) was crowded on jumping between PROBO CHANDROSO (S Anandan) and HARD STUFF (D Beasley) which jumped inwards at the start.

GOLDEN JAMBHALA (D Chee) was slow to begin.

SERGEANT PEPPER (B Vorster) raced wide in the early and middle stages.

Approaching the 400m, SERGEANT PEPPER, which was held up, was taken inwards across the heels of STRIDE METEOR (J Moreira) in an attempt to obtain a clear run.

Shortly after passing the 100m, STRIDE METEOR checked when racing between JAZZ IT UP (J Verenzuela) and HARD STUFF. An inquiry into this incident will be held at a date to be fixed.

Jockey Verenzuela, the rider of JAZZ IT UP, reported that his horse was making respiratory noises. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed that the horse returned lame near-fore. JAZZ IT UP will be required to pass a 1000m gallop trial and veterinary examination prior to being declared to race again.

 RACE 4:  INITIATION - 1400M

SUPER NEW HAWK (V Sivan), which was fractious in the barrier and got under the partition, was taken out, and examined by the Veterinary Surgeon. Acting on veterinary advice, the Race Meeting Stewards ordered its withdrawal at 1953Hrs. SUPER NEW HAWK will be required to pass one starting stall test prior to being declared to race again in terms of MRA Rule 78(2).

In this incident, ELLA BELLA (J Powell), which was in the adjacent barrier, was taken out, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon, passed fit to race and reloaded.

DUELLO (I Andy) began awkwardly and lost ground.

HIGH TICK (D Beasley), which began awkwardly, shifted outwards abruptly and bumped ELLA BELLA.

Shortly after the start, LITTLE DRAGON (R Woodworth) was inconvenienced by HIGH MILLENNIUM (App J Farook), which shifted outwards.

Shortly thereafter, REAL GOODMAN (YF Leong) shifted inwards and bumped WAR CRUSADER (App R Shafiq), resulting in that gelding becoming unbalanced.

Passing the 1200m, ELLA BELLA, which was proving difficult to settle, shifted outwards and bumped WAR CRUSADER out onto HIGH MILLENNIUM.

Near the 1000m, LITTLE DRAGON, which was overracing, had to be steadied off the heels of WAR CRUSADER, and as a result shifted outwards abruptly.

Passing the 1000m, FLYING WILD (J Saimee), which was proving difficult to settle, was crowded slightly between HANDSOME BACHELOR (App TH Koh) and WAR CRUSADER, which shifted inwards.

Approaching the 800m, LITTLE DRAGON, which continued to race keenly, became unbalanced when crowded slightly by HIGH MILLENNIUM.

HIGH MILLENNIUM, which raced poorly, will be required to pass a 1000m gallop trial and veterinary examination prior to being declared to race again.

Jockey Powell, the rider of ELLA BELLA, reported that his horse was making respiratory noises. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed that the horse exhibited signs of respiratory distress after the race. ELLA BELLA will be required to pass a 1000m gallop trial and veterinary examination prior to being declared to race again.

LITTLE DRAGON was impounded for routine veterinary and analytical examination. The Veterinary Surgeon reported no apparent abnormality.

 RACE 5:  BENCHMARK 97 - 1400M

APACHE CROWN (App R Shafiq) raced keenly in the early stages.

Near the 1100m, APACHE CROWN checked when racing to the inside of JUST A MAN (J Moreira). An Inquiry into this incident will be held at a date to be fixed.

APACHE CROWN laid inwards in the straight.

The Farrier reported that MACAU returned having cast its off-hind plate.

The Veterinary Surgeon reported that JUST A MAN bled. In terms of MRA Rule 92(3), it will not be permitted to canter or gallop on the main training tracks of any racecourse for a period of two months, and may not start in any race for a period of three months, and then only after having satisfactorily passed a bleeder’s test.

 RACE 6:  CLASS 5 - 2000M

MY FIELD (App R Shafiq) and KNIGHT’S PARADISE (App TH Koh) bumped on jumping.

HI JACK (B Vorster) and JOLLY ONE (App WL Tan) bumped on jumping.

CONQUEST (J Powell) hung outwards making the turn out of the straight the first time, thereby carrying AUTOMATION GOLD (S John) wider on the track.

Approaching the 1000m, JOLLY ONE eased when crowded to the inside of MY FIELD, which shifted inwards. App Shafiq was subsequently shown the film of the incident and warned to exercise greater care when shifting ground in future.

HI JACK and LAVA LAVA (M Zaki) both raced wide throughout.

Approaching the 700m, BOOMZ (J Moreira) eased outwards away from the heels of JOLLY ONE, which shifted inwards.

MY FIELD was held up and unable to improve making the turn into the straight.

Shortly after entering the home straight, JOLLY ONE had to be checked outwards after becoming awkwardly placed on the heels of AUTOMATION GOLD.

JOLLY ONE laid outwards under pressure over the final 100m.

AUTOMATION GOLD and TRIGGER INSIGHT (D Beasley), which both raced poorly, will each be required to pass a 1000m gallop trial and veterinary examination prior to being declared to race again.

 RACE 7:  CLASS 4, DIV 3 - 1200M

NO REASON (S John), which was fractious, got away from its Syce in the Pre-Race Holding Area and galloped back to its Stable. As the horse had been unattended for a period of time, the Race Meeting Stewards ordered its withdrawal at 1947Hrs.

GEORGE (B Vorster) was crowded on jumping between SICHUAN RULER (J Powell) and BERT (O Placais), which jumped inwards.

Shortly after, BERT was carried outwards when SICHUAN RULER shifted outwards. As a result, SAVILHRO (App WL Tan) had to be eased.

Approaching the 1000m, GEORGE checked when severely crowded to the inside of GOAL KEEPER (D Beasley), which hung inwards and away from SICHUAN RULER despite the efforts of its rider.

Passing the 800m, GOAL KEEPER was obliged to race tight to the inside of SICHUAN RULER, which had a tendency to shift ground.

GOAL KEEPER laid inwards in the straight.

The Veterinary Surgeon reported that NINETYFIVE POWER (App TH Koh) had returned with the saddle having slipped back during the running of the race.

The Veterinary Surgeon reported that ENGINE (J Moreira) bled. In terms of MRA Rule 92(3), it will not be permitted to canter or gallop on the main training tracks of any racecourse for a period of two months, and may not start in any race for a period of three months, and then only after having satisfactorily passed a bleeder’s test.

A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on NINETYFIVE POWER which revealed no apparent abnormality.

 RACE 8:  NOVICE - 1200M

Prior to the running of Race 8, Trainer Dr KC Yeoh advised the Stewards that his instructions to Jockey M Suhaimi, the rider of ROCK ART, if circumstances permit, to ride it from behind.

BALTHAZAR (App YY Oon) was slow to begin.

Shortly thereafter, BALTHAZAR was inconvenienced by MONFERRATO (R Woodworth), which shifted outwards.

CABRERA (App M Airy) began awkwardly and shifted outwards abruptly.

SKY WIPER (I Saifudin), which was difficult to settle, had to be continually restrained off the heels of LET’S SEE ACTION (B Vorster) for some distance passing the 800m.

CABRERA and FOUNTAIN (O Chavez) both raced wide throughout.

 RACE 9:  CLASS 4, DIV 2 - 1200M

Trainer D Hill, when questioned regarding the significant rise in body weight of PRUSSIAN JACK (O Placais) since its last start, stated that the horse was returning from a long spell and had grown bigger after maturing further. He also stated that the gelding has two trials recently and was race fit. The horse was reweighed and passed fit to race by the Veterinary Surgeon.

BLITZ (App M Airy) jumped away extremely awkwardly.

DAVIDE (App R Shafiq) and ACE ARMANDO (J Verenzuela) both raced wide throughout.

IP MAN (O Chavez) had a tendency to lay inwards in the early part of the race.

PRUSSIAN JACK laid inwards in the straight placing its rider at a disadvantage.

RACE 5 [TF1436]
At the conclusion of an inquiry on Wednesday, 16 November 2011, Jockey Alan Ng, the rider of INDULGE, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that whilst riding INDULGE in Race 5 at the Singapore Turf Club Meeting on Friday, 28 October 2011, near the 800m, he permitted his mount to shift inwards, when insufficiently clear of EL PATRON (S Sam), thereby taking that gelding in onto HEY TORO (B Vorster), which in turn crowded NEW TARGET (KK Ng), resulting in that gelding being checked. When deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into account his record, guilty plea, the degree of interference and carelessness and submissions from Jockey Ng that he has been engaged to ride at the Singapore Race Meetings on Friday, 18 November 2011 and Sunday, 20 November 2011. The Stewards determined to suspend his licence to ride in races and acting under MRA Rule 48(5), the commencement of the suspension was deferred to begin on Monday, 21 November 2011 until Saturday, 26 November 2011 both dates inclusive (two Race Days). He was advised of his right of appeal.

At the conclusion of an inquiry on Wednesday, 16 November 2011, Jockey TO Chang, the rider of OLD FAITHFUL, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that whilst riding OLD FAITHFUL in Race 5 at the Singapore Turf Club Meeting on Friday, 04 November 2011, near the 1500m, he permitted his mount to shift inwards, when insufficiently clear of FLEET FOOT (J Moreira), resulting in FLEET FOOT having to be crowded and checked. When deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into account his record, guilty plea, the degree of interference and carelessness and submissions from Jockey Chang that he has been engaged to ride at the Singapore Race Meeting on Sunday, 20 November 2011. The Stewards determined to suspend his licence to ride in races and acting under MRA Rule 48(5), the commencement of the suspension was deferred to begin on Monday, 21 November 2011 until Sunday, 27 November 2011 both dates inclusive (three Race Days). He was advised of his right of appeal.

RACE 7 [TF1478]
On Wednesday, 16 November 2011, the Stewards concluded an inquiry into the reasons for STEADFAST WARRIOR (J Saimee) having to be checked when racing between BOWIE KNIFE (S Anandan) and SAMURAI PHOENIX (D Beasley) near the 400m. It was established that near the 400m, BOWIE KNIFE shifted inwards under pressure, resulting in STEADFAST WARRIOR shifting inwards away from that gelding. Shortly thereafter, SAMURAI PHOENIX, when improving, shifted outwards slightly, which resulted in STEADFAST WARRIOR being crowded for room and having to be checked. In the circumstances, no blame could be attributed to any rider and as such, no further action was taken.
