NOVEMBER (GOLD CUP) MEETING
Sunday,  13 November 2011

 RACE 1:  CLASS 4, DIV 2 - 1400M

DEVONSHIRE (V Duric) and DARING YOUTH (V Sivan) were both restless in the barriers. Trainer S Gray and Trainer S Chua were both advised that warnings have been placed on DEVONSHIRE and DARING YOUTH respectively regarding their barrier manners and to take steps to improve them or action may be taken in future.

THRILLA IN MANILA (J Powell) was fractious in the barrier and attempted to dive under the front gate. In this incident, the breastplate on the gelding broke. The broken gear was removed, thereby causing a delay. THRILLA IN MANILA will be required to pass one starting stall test prior to being declared to race again in terms of MRA Rule 78(2).

DEVONSHIRE jumped away awkwardly.

SPLITSVILLE (R Woodworth), which jumped away awkwardly, was crowded on jumping between BETTER FRIENDS (S Sam) and WINNING DAN (S John), which jumped outwards at the start.

THRILLA IN MANILA and LINDT (B Vorster) bumped on jumping.

Shortly after the start, DARING YOUTH, which was racing greenly, shifted outwards carrying LINDT out onto THRILLA IN MANILA, which in turn bumped PREDICTABLE (R Stewart) onto WINNING DAN, with that gelding having to be eased off the heels of BETTER FRIENDS.

THRILLA IN MANILA proved extremely difficult to settle in the backstraight and got its head up on a number of occasions.

AFFIRMATION (O Placais) was held up and unable to improve approaching the turn into the straight.

Passing the 300m, BETTER FRIENDS and PREDICTABLE bumped.

Jockey D Beasley, the rider of TRAVERTINE, was reminded of his obligations to ride all his mounts out fully to the finish.

 RACE 2:  RESTRICTED MAIDEN - 1200M

Prior to the running of Race 2, Trainer S Chua advised the Stewards that his instructions to Jockey S John, the rider of CHINESE TYCOON, if circumstances permit, from a wide barrier to try and settle off the pace in an attempt to get the gelding to run home.

THE RUDE WARRIOR (J Moreira), which was difficult to be loaded, will be required to pass one starting stall test prior to being declared to race again in terms of MRA Rule 78(2).

HILARY (App TH Koh) jumped away extremely awkwardly and in so doing, crowding NEVER RETREAT (O Chavez).

CARBON COPY (J Saimee) and PRIME MOVER (R Woodworth) bumped on jumping.

SPIN CITI (B Vorster) got its head up on jumping and shifted outwards making contact with the hindquarters of INDICIO (V Duric).

HAPPY RAINBOW (App R Shafiq) jumped away awkwardly.

INDICIO was difficult to settle in the early stages.

Passing the 800m, HILARY, which was overracing, had to be continually eased for some distance when awkwardly placed on the heels of CARBON COPY.

WATERFALL (M Au) and TRUE NORTH (J Powell) both raced wide throughout.

Making the turn into the straight, TRUE NORTH and WATERFALL were both inclined to lay inwards.

HILARY raced greenly in the straight.

XIN TREASURE (J Verenzuela) laid inwards in the straight obliging its rider to stop riding and straighten his mount on a number of occasions.

A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on THE RUDE WARRIOR which revealed no apparent abnormality.

 RACE 3:  CLASS 4, DIV 1 - 1400M

COOL CAT (D Beasley) jumped awkwardly inwards, thereby carrying SELIGI (App R Shafiq) in onto SIR FLEETWOOD (B Vorster), which bumped heavily with BUMBLE BEE (M Hairin). This resulted in BUMBLE BEE being taken inwards and having to be restrained off the heels of CHIVE BLOOM (J Moreira).

POPI POPI (J Verenzuela) jumped away awkwardly.

NINTH AVENUE (S John) dipped on jumping.

Near the 1200m, NINTH AVENUE checked when racing to the inside of GOOD SIBLING (S Anandan), WARSPIRIT (O Placais), SELIGI and POPI POPI. An Inquiry into this incident will be held at a date to be fixed.

SIR FLEETWOOD raced wide throughout.

BUMBLE BEE showed no early pace despite the urgings of its rider.

Approaching the turn into the straight, DARING JOURNEY (App YY Oon) had to be eased when held up on the heels of the tiring SIR FLEETWOOD.

The Farrier reported that BUMBLE BEE returned having cast its near-fore plate.

SIR FLEETWOOD was impounded for routine veterinary and analytical examination. The Veterinary Surgeon reported no apparent abnormality. SIR FLEETWOOD, which raced poorly, will be required to pass a 1000m gallop trial and veterinary examination prior to being declared to race again.

 RACE 4:  INITIATION - 1600M

Near the 1000m, DESERT VIKING (V Duric) commenced to race keenly when racing tight to the inside of SUPER SPUR (J Moreira) and FALLING (J Powell).

HAPPY SHINKO (D Beasley) raced keenly in the early and middle stages.

DARCISTAR (S John) laid inwards under pressure over the final 200m.

Near the 100m, FALLING checked when racing to the inside of SUPER SPUR. An Inquiry into this incident will be held at a date to be fixed.

The Farrier reported that SWEET PEA (R Woodworth) returned having cast its off-fore plate.

A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on SWEET PEA which revealed no apparent abnormality. SWEET PEA, which raced poorly, will be required to pass a 1000m gallop trial and veterinary examination prior to being declared to race again.

 RACE 5:  CLASS 3, DIV 2 - 1200M

Prior to the running of Race 5, the going was upgraded to good.

NEW TARGET (App JL Li) was slow to begin.

Shortly after passing the 1000m, FUKU KITARU (KB Soo) was bumped and carried wider when FANTASTIC JAW (R Woodworth) was carried outwards by ABEYANT (D Beasley).

FUKU KITARU raced wide throughout.

Approaching the 700m, LUCKYATSUCCESS (J Moreira) steadied outwards away from the heels of ABEYANT and in so doing, carried FUNCA (O Placais) wider on the track.

Jockey Woodworth, the rider of FANTASTIC JAW, reported that his horse was not striding out freely. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormality.

 RACE 6:  BENCHMARK 65 - 2200M

Shortly after the start, STEADFAST WARRIOR (App YY Oon) and MAGIC ICON (O Chavez) were both crowded between LUCKY RISE (R Woodworth) and SILVER ELEMENT (R Stewart), which rolled outwards.

Near the 500m, ZAC DETONATOR (B Vorster) blundered and checked severely after clipping the heels of JURY’S OUT (App CS Chin), which rolled inwards when losing ground.

The Farrier reported that STEADFAST WARRIOR and JURY’S OUT both returned having cast their near-fore and near-hind plates respectively.

Jockey J Saimee, the rider of SAMURAI HORNET, reported that his horse was not striding out freely. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormality. SAMURAI HORNET, which raced poorly, will be required to pass a 1000m gallop trial and veterinary examination prior to being declared to race again.

A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on JURY’S OUT which revealed no apparent abnormality. JURY’S OUT, which raced poorly, will be required to pass a 1000m gallop trial and veterinary examination prior to being declared to race again.

ZAC DETONATOR was impounded for routine veterinary and analytical examination. The Veterinary Surgeon reported no apparent abnormality.

 RACE 7:  GRADUATION - 1400M

EL PERIGO (D Beasley) lost ground on jumping when bumped heavily by QUALITY STARS (App WL Tan), which jumped inwards at the start.

QUALITY STARS had a tendency to race greenly in the straight.

The Farrier reported that RARE EARTH (J Saimee) returned having cast its off-fore plate.

RARE EARTH was impounded for routine veterinary and analytical examination. The Veterinary Surgeon reported no apparent abnormality.

All riders returned to scale an average of 1½kgs overweight due to the weather conditions.

 RACE 8:  BENCHMARK 97 - 1600M

Prior to the running of Race 8, the going was downgraded to yielding.

JAMAL MALIK (B Vorster) laid outwards under pressure over the final 200m.

The Farrier reported that LEGEND (S Sam) returned having cast its near-fore plate.

A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on GOLDEN NUMBER (J Verenzuela) which revealed no apparent abnormality.

 RACE 9:  CLASS 3, DIV 1 - 1200M

BRUNEI ROYAL (B Vorster) jumped away awkwardly and shifted inwards, making contact with BENJI’S EMPIRE (M Kellady).

CHARLY B (O Placais) and RYAN JAMES (V Duric) bumped on jumping.

RAGING STORM (S John), which was difficult to settle, raced wide in the early and middle stages.

Near the 300m, RYAN JAMES and CHARLY B were both momentarily held up for a clear run.

BRUNEI ROYAL raced greenly in the straight.

TRUDEAU (O Chavez) was impounded for routine veterinary and analytical examination. The Veterinary Surgeon reported no apparent abnormality.

 RACE 10:  CLASS 4, DIV 1 - 1600M

Trainer D Koh was fined a sum of S$200 for negligence in terms of MRA Rule 152(5)(a) in that he failed to submit his request for App JL Li to ride CHENGDU WARRIOR without claiming his full allowance within the prescribed time at Declarations.

HAPPINESS COME (M Hairin) stood flat-footed, was slow to jump and lost considerable ground. In view of its previous record and as HAPPINESS COME is a repeat offender, it will be barred from racing or entering for a test trial for a period of fourteen days, after which it must pass two consecutive starting stall tests.

TANHA STRIKE (J Saimee), which was restless in the barrier, reared as the start was effected and lost considerable ground.

TANHA STRIKE and IRO OTOKO (B Vorster) both raced wide throughout.

Approaching the 300m, MAKE A RETURN (M Ewe) and WASSAIC (J Moreira) were both carried inwards when SACRED EMBLEM (J Verenzuela) shifted inwards abruptly.

Passing the 200m, SACRED EMBLEM was carried outwards when WASSAIC shifted outwards under pressure.

SUPREME GENERAL (V Sivan), which raced poorly, will be required to pass a 1000m gallop trial and veterinary examination prior to being declared to race again.

A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on TANHA STRIKE which revealed no apparent abnormality. TANHA STRIKE, which raced poorly, will be required to pass a 1000m gallop trial from the barrier and a veterinary examination prior to being declared to race again.

All riders returned to scale an average of 1½kgs overweight due to the weather conditions.

 RACE 11:  LONGINES SINGAPORE GOLD CUP - 2200M

Due to transport difficulties, Jockey B Tai, the rider of SAMURAI PHOENIX, failed to arrive on course by the prescribed time. As such, permission was given for Jockey S Sam to replace Jockey Tai on SAMURAI PHOENIX.

Trainer L Laxon was fined a sum of S$200 for negligence in terms of MRA Rule 152(5)(a) in that he failed to submit his request for Jockey J Moreira to ride overweight on MARTIAL ART within the prescribed time at Declarations.

Prior to the running of Race 11, the going was downgraded to soft.

MAURICE UTRILLO (J Saimee) and HONEST BROKER (S John) were both crowded on jumping between HINT (V Sivan), which jumped inwards and FLYING FULTON (O Chavez), which jumped outwards.

CLINT (J Powell) and SAMURAI PHOENIX both raced keenly in the early stages.

The Farrier reported that MAURICE UTRILLO returned having cast its off-fore plate.

MARTIAL ART was held up and unable to improve from the 800m until approaching the 300m.

Following the running of Race 11, Jockey J Verenzuela, the rider of SPEED BABY, was examined by the Course Medical Officer who declared him unfit to fulfil his remaining riding engagement.

 RACE 12:  CLASS 4, DIV 2 - 1600M

As there was no rider available, REPORT FOR DUTY was withdrawn by order of the Race Meeting Stewards at 1820Hrs.

Shortly after the start, SAMURAI KING (S John) and ROOY (J Powell) were both crowded between DISTINCT NICHE (App TH Koh) and BEE AHEAD (App R Shafiq), which was bumped outwards by MOVIE GOER (O Chavez).

BEE AHEAD laid inwards under pressure in the homestraight.

A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on ROOY which revealed no apparent abnormality. ROOY, which raced poorly, will be required to pass a 1000m gallop trial and veterinary examination prior to being declared to race again.

DISTINCT NICHE, which raced poorly, will be required to pass a 1000m gallop trial and veterinary examination prior to being declared to race again.

All riders returned to scale an average of 2kgs overweight due to the weather conditions.
