Friday,  9 May 2008

 RACE 1:  MAIDEN - 1100M (SAND)

Shortly after making the turn into the straight, EXTRA POWER (O Chavez) was momentarily held up on the heels of MOUNTAIN RAIDER (App M Koh).

App Koh, the rider of MOUNTAIN RAIDER, reported that his horse was not striding out freely. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormality.

HAPPY FEET (S John) was impounded for routine veterinary and analytical examination. The Veterinary Surgeon reported no apparent abnormality.

Jockey E Legrix, the rider of MR HAPPY, when questioned regarding racing in a forward position, stated that in his opinion, the field tonight was not overly strong and after jumping well, he elected to take advantage of his inside draw and take up a forward position. His explanation was noted.

 RACE 2:  CLASS 5 - 1700M (SAND)

LEOPARD STRIKE (Alan Ng) was slow to begin.

LION CITY PRINCE (App M Ewe) and RAK KRUNG THAI (KB Soo) both began awkwardly.

Shortly after the start, LEOPARD STRIKE steadied away from the heels of GUNONG MERAPI (S John), which laid inwards.

Near the 1400m, GUNONG MERAPI mis-strode.

Jockey A Fiezan, the rider of SIDFORD, was warned and reminded of his obligations to ride all his mounts out fully to the end of the race.

The Farrier reported that RAK KRUNG THAI returned having cast its off-fore plate.

The Veterinary Surgeon reported that SILENT WISH (App M Airy) returned lame off-fore. SILENT WISH will be required to pass a 1000m gallop trial and veterinary examination prior to being entered to race again.

Jockey John, the rider of GUNONG MERAPI, reported that his horse was not striding out freely. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormality.

HAPPY FEELINGS (Din Azis) was impounded for routine veterinary and analytical examination. The Veterinary Surgeon reported no apparent abnormality.

Following the running of Race 2, Jockey Azis, the rider of HAPPY FEELINGS, was examined by the Course Medical Officer who declared him unfit to fulfil his remaining riding engagement.

 RACE 3:  RESTRICTED MAIDEN - 1100M (SAND)

Prior to the start, DARING DANE (J Powell) was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to race.

STAR FISH RIM (App M Koh) began awkwardly, shifted inwards and bumped the hindquarters of DARING DANE.

JENNICARDO (App M Ewe) began awkwardly and lost considerable ground. The filly, which also raced poorly, will be required to pass a 1000m gallop trial from the barrier and a veterinary examination prior to being entered to race again.

Jockey Powell, the rider of DARING DANE, reported that his horse was not striding out freely. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormality.

BRILLIANCE (M Gallagher) was impounded for routine veterinary and analytical examination. The Veterinary Surgeon reported no apparent abnormality.

 RACE 4:  CLASS 4 - 1100M (SAND)

Jockey A Fiezan was fined S$200 for negligence in terms of MRA Rule 152(5)(a) in that he failed to inform Trainer L Treloar of his inability to ride KING TOWKAY at the correct weight.

MY YEENJEEN (M Gallagher) and ONE CHOP (Alan Ng) were both slow to begin.

Passing the 800m, KING TOWKAY, which was racing fiercely, steadied when momentarily crowded to the inside of PRIOR KING (E Legrix).

Near the 700m, THAT’S FAST (S Anandan) steadied after racing up onto the heels of POSTMAN TALES (D Chee).

ONE CHOP hung outwards on the hometurn and carried ACE ARCADIA (J Saimee) wider.

WHO DARE WINS (R Fradd) was impounded for routine veterinary and analytical examination. The Veterinary Surgeon reported no apparent abnormality.

Jockey Saimee, the rider of ACE ARCADIA, when questioned racing in a rearward position today as opposed to its most recent starts, stated that he was instructed to race forward if possible, but his mount failed to display necessary early speed and as a result, he settled further back than anticipated. Jockey Saimee further stated that despite being under pressure, the gelding failed to respond. His explanation was noted.

App M Ewe who rode his 40th winner on RAPIDFLARE will only be permitted to claim 2Kgs allowance with effect from Monday, 12 May 2008.

 RACE 5:  CLASS 5 - 1200M (SAND)

GEM ARC (App HK Cheng) jumped awkwardly inwards.

HANAUMA BAY (G De Souza) was slow to begin.

FUTURE MISSION (J Powell) jumped awkwardly and shifted outwards inconveniencing GOLDEN LARKSPUR (M Gallagher).

Near the 1000m, FORWARD (App M Ewe) steadied off the heels of GOLDEN LARKSPUR, which rolled outwards.

Shortly after passing the 200m, HOMMONO (A Fiezan) had to be checked after being disappointed for a run when racing up onto the heels of SUPER EXPRESS (S John), which rolled outwards when giving ground.

Jockey Gallagher, the rider of GOLDEN LARKSPUR, was fined S$500 for making a celebratory gesture prior to the Finish in terms of MRA Rule 44(10).

TRIPLE ACES (R Stewart) was impounded for routine veterinary and analytical examination. The Veterinary Surgeon reported no apparent abnormality.

 RACE 6:  CLASS 4 - 1600M (SAND)

REDPACKETDAY (M Gallagher), which was restless in the barrier, broke through the front of its gate, quickly restrained, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon, passed fit to race and reloaded.

ACE CENTURION (App M Ewe), ABLE WIN (V Sivan) and VALIANT MASTER (Alan Ng) were all slow to begin.

Near the 1400m, DIVEST (D Beasley) got its head up when being steadied and proved difficult to settle.

Passing the 800m, ETERNAL LUCK (S John) steadied off the heels of LIM’S GLORY (O Chavez), which rolled outwards.

Near the 500m, BIG OCCASION (KB Soo) was momentarily held up on the heels of REDPACKETDAY.

ACT LIKE ME (R Woodworth) made the turn into the straight wide.

Jockey Beasley, when questioned regarding the run of DIVEST, stated that in the early stages, he attempted to get cover. However, the gelding had proved difficult to settle and got its head up on a couple of occasions. After then being caught three wide, he elected to go forward but the runners to his inside also quickened the tempo. He was eventually able to race outside the leader. However, when placed under pressure thereafter, it had then failed to run on. His explanation was noted. A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on DIVEST which revealed no apparent abnormality.

REDPACKETDAY was impounded for routine veterinary and analytical examination. The Veterinary Surgeon reported no apparent abnormality.
 

 RACE 7:  KRANJI STAKES C - 1700M (SAND)

FAT BOY (App M Ewe) jumped awkwardly.

KANEGURA (E Legrix) was obliged to make the turn wide.

SAINT ARC (R Woodworth) hung outwards over the final 200m.

 RACE 8:  KRANJI STAKES C - 1200M (SAND)

Acting on veterinary advice that THE FIREBIRD was found to have an inadequate medication clearance, the Race Meeting Stewards ordered its withdrawal. In terms of MRA Regulation 24.2, it must be presented to an Official Veterinary Surgeon prior to being declared to race again.

Trainer D Koh was fined a sum of S$50 in terms of MRA Rule 65(5)(ii) for failing to produce the correct colours on ZIBELLINO (YF Leong).

STEEL CUT (J Saimee) jumped away awkwardly.

THAT’S MONEY (S John) jumped outwards at the start bumping SCREAMING EAGLE (J Powell).

The Farrier reported that GUST (D Beasley) and LUCKY SUN (Alan Ng) both returned having cast their off-fore plates.

GUST was impounded for routine veterinary and analytical examination. The Veterinary Surgeon reported no apparent abnormality.

Jockey Saimee, when questioned regarding the run of STEEL CUT, stated that after jumping away awkwardly, the gelding was inclined to lay inwards and he was unable to hold his position when tight to the inside of MAGICIAN (R Stewart). He further stated that STEEL CUT had a tendency to lay inwards throughout and that it had failed to run on when placed under pressure. His explanation was noted. STEEL CUT was impounded for routine veterinary and analytical examination. The Veterinary Surgeon reported no apparent abnormality.

On Monday, 05 May 2008, the Race Meeting Stewards acceded to a request from App SH Low, the rider of EXPRESSARDO, to withdraw his Appeal against the penalty imposed on him. His deposit was forfeited.

The Race Meeting Stewards have determined that the suspension from riding in races for a period of three Race Days will therefore be with immediate effect from Monday, 05 May 2008 and will run until Sunday, 11 May 2008 both dates inclusive.

SUNDAY, 04 MAY 2008:

RACE 4 [TF526]

At the conclusion of an Inquiry on Monday, 05 May 2008, Jockey M Kellady, the rider of HARUNDSAN, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(c) in that whilst riding HARUNDSAN in the fourth race at the Singapore Turf Club Meeting on Sunday, 04 May 2008, near the 1400m, he allowed his mount to shift inwards, when insufficiently clear, thereby carrying ARBITRATOR (D Beasley) into the running of GREY MAGIC (R Fradd), which had to check. When deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into account his record, guilty plea and the degree of interference and carelessness. Jockey Kellady was suspended from riding in races with immediate effect from Monday, 05 May 2008 to Sunday, 11 May 2008 both dates inclusive (three Race Days) and was advised of his Right of Appeal.

RACE 4 [TF526]
At the conclusion of an Inquiry on Monday, 05 May 2008, Jockey B Vorster, the rider of LEADING GENERAL, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(c) in that whilst riding LEADING GENERAL in the fourth race at the Singapore Turf Club Meeting on Sunday, 04 May 2008, near the 1400m, he shifted his mount inwards, when insufficiently clear, resulting in CHEVY (O Chavez) having to check. When deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into account his record, guilty plea and the degree of interference and carelessness. Jockey Vorster was suspended from riding in races with immediate effect from Monday, 05 May 2008 to Sunday, 11 May 2008 both dates inclusive (three Race Days) and was advised of his Right of Appeal.

RACE 4 [TF526]
At the conclusion of an Inquiry on Monday, 05 May 2008, Jockey N Callow, the rider of VAL ANGEL, was found guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(c) in that whilst riding VAL ANGEL in the fourth race at the Singapore Turf Club Meeting on Sunday, 04 May 2008, near the 650m, he allowed his mount to shift outwards, when insufficiently clear, thereby carrying KASHANI STAR (M Gallagher) out crowding CELESTIAL BLUE (R Stewart), resulting in it having to be checked. When deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into account his record and the degree of interference and carelessness. Jockey Callow was suspended from riding in races with immediate effect from Monday, 05 May 2008 to Saturday, 17 May 2008 both dates inclusive (two Singapore Race Days) and in addition, he was fined a sum of S$5,000. He was advised of his Right of Appeal.

RACE 4 [TF526]
At the conclusion of an Inquiry on Monday, 05 May 2008, App M Zaki, the rider of POWER N WIN, in the presence of his Master, Trainer H Takaoka, was found guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(c) in that whilst riding POWER N WIN in the four race at the Singapore Turf Club Meeting on Sunday, 04 May 2008, near the 600m, he allowed his mount to shift inwards, when insufficiently clear, thereby carrying KASHANI STAR (M Gallagher) in and resulting in LEADING GENERAL (B Vorster) checking and losing ground. When deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into account his record and the degree of interference and carelessness. App Zaki was suspended from riding in races with immediate effect from Monday, 05 May 2008 to Sunday, 11 May 2008 both dates inclusive (three Race Days) and was advised of his Right of Appeal.

RACE 7 [TF529]
On Wednesday, 07 May 2008, the Stewards concluded an Inquiry into a report from the Starter regarding the conduct of Jockey A Fiezan, the rider of RECYCLE TRUIMPH. Whilst there was insufficient evidence to substantiate any charges, Jockey Fiezan was warned and reminded of his obligations whilst at the start.

RACE 10 [TF532]
At the conclusion of an Inquiry on Wednesday, 07 May 2008, Jockey R Fradd, the rider of TWICE REGAL, was found guilty to a charge of misconduct under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) in that shortly after the Winning Post, he forcibly struck his mount in the vicinity of the head with his left hand. When deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into account his record and the nature of the charge. Jockey Fradd was fined a sum of S$1,000 and was advised of his Right of Appeal.
