FEBRUARY (FORTUNE BOWL) MEETING
Tuesday,  9 February 2016

 RACE 1:  GONG XI FA CAI STAKES
                 CLASS 5, DIV 1 - 1600M

GALAXY EXPRESS (K Fujii) was slow to begin.

SECRET SPICE (M Nunes) jumped away awkwardly.

Shortly after the start, PERCIUS (A Da Silva) lost ground when crowded between KLEVER WARRIOR (J Powell), which had been carried outwards slightly by AUREUS (App WT Chung) and SPUR ME ON (B Vorster), which had been carried inwards by EAGLESHAM (M Rodd) and SING ENERGY (CW Brown). Shortly after, KLEVER WARRIOR then eased off the heels of AUREUS, when crowded between that gelding which continued to shift out and SPUR ME ON, which had been carried inwards by EAGLESHAM, SING ENERGY and CANNON KING (App MM Firdaus).

SUN DANCE (R Woodworth) proved difficult to settle in the backstraight.

Approaching the 700m, SUN DANCE checked when overracing between DASHING JACK (I Azhar) and SING ENERGY. WONDERFUL ERA (E Chaves) and SECRET SPICE which was following, were inconvenienced as a result of this incident.

Making the turn into the straight, SPUR ME ON checked when racing behind AUREUS and to the inside of CANNON KING. This resulted in EAGLESHAM and PERCIUS having to be severely checked and in turn severely hampering SECRET SPICE. Shortly after, GALAXY EXPRESS checked off the heels of SUN DANCE, which was carried outwards when racing to the outside DASHING JACK, SING ENERGY and CANNON KING. As a result, TONGARIRO (App R Rueven) was also carried wider on the track. WONDERFUL ERA, which was following also had to be checked. An Inquiry into this incident will be held at a date to be fixed.

Approaching the 250m, SPUR ME ON steadied to inside of PERCIUS.

Passing the 200m, EAGLESHAM was momentarily steadied when disappointed for a clear run.

The Farrier reported that AUREUS returned having cast its off-fore plate.

KLEVER WARRIOR which raced poorly will be required to pass a 1000m gallop trial and veterinary examination prior to being declared to race again.

A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on EAGLESHAM which revealed no apparent abnormality.

 RACE 2:  YEAR OF THE MONKEY STAKES
                 RESTRICTED MAIDEN - 1400M

Acting on veterinary advice that CIRRUS (D Beasley) was found to be lame off-fore, the Panel of Stewards ordered its withdrawal at 1252Hrs. In terms of MRA Regulation 24.2, it must be presented to an Official Veterinary Surgeon prior to being declared to race again.

After arriving at the barrier, AURORA AUSTRALIS (M Nunes) had its saddle readjusted.

PISTA (App R Zawari) was crowded on jumping between WARSHIP (B Vorster) and EL CAMINO (R Woodworth), which was carried outwards by THE WIND (E Chaves).

AURORA AUSTRALIS jumped away awkwardly, resulting in it shifting outwards bumping BRAVE BLOSSOM (K Fujii) out onto PANACHE (App R Rueven), which in turn bumped D’BUFFALO MAN (CW Brown). Shortly after, AURORA AUSTRALIS stumbled after clipping the heels of BRAVE BLOSSOM.

MY TOUCH (I Azhar) and D’BUFFALO MAN both raced keenly in the backstraight.

Passing the 900m, MANHATTAN DREAM (M Kellady) mistrode.

AURORA AUSTRALIS got its head up when proving difficult to settle passing the 800m.

BRAVE BLOSSOM made contact with the rail making the turn into the straight.

Approaching the 400M, MY TOUCH mistrode and shifted outwards carrying WARSHIP out. WARSHIP then carried D’BUFFALO MAN wider on the track.

Passing the 250m, THE WIND (E Chaves) laid inwards making contact with PANACHE.

Approaching the 100m, Jockey Vorster had his whip struck out of his hand when racing tight to the inside of D’BUFFALO MAN.

 RACE 3:  HEALTH & HAPPINESS STAKES
                 GRADUATION - 1200M

LADY IFFRAAJ (App MM Firdaus) was slow to begin after jumping away awkwardly.

CASING ROYAL (K A’Isisuhairi) and EXCELLENT ONE (App R Rueven) bumped on jumping.

Shortly after the start, LADY IFFRAAJ steadied when crowded between SUN PIONEER (R Woodworth) and MR NEVERMIND (O Chavez).

Shortly after the start, SUN PIONEER was bumped on a couple of occasions when CASING ROYAL was inclined to shift in and away from EXCELLENT ONE. This resulted in SUN PIONEER becoming unbalanced and shifting outwards and tightening CASING ROYAL, which then had to be eased off the heels of EXCELLENT ONE.

Passing the 800m, LIM’S SPRINT (D Beasley) got its head up after racing up onto the heels of SUN PIONEER. Shortly after, SUN PIONEER got its head up and lost ground when racing keenly to the inside of EXCELLENT ONE.

Near the 700m, LADY IFFRAAJ laid outwards carrying MR NEVERMIND wider on the track.

A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on LADY IFFRAAJ which revealed no apparent abnormality.

 RACE 4:  GOOD LUCK STAKES
                 INITIATION - 1600M

RAINBOW FISH (App CC Wong) was restless in the barrier. Trainer ZL Mok was advised that a warning has been placed on RAINBOW FISH regarding its barrier manners and to take steps to improve them or action may be taken in future.

BULLISH LUCK (O Chavez) was slow to begin after jumping away awkwardly.

ZARULES (M Nunes) and NATURAL WATER (TH Koh) bumped on jumping.

ARHAT (A Da Silva) was crowded at the start between RAINBOW FISH, which was carried outwards by EASTERN TOWKAY (R Woodworth), and ZAHIR (B Vorster) which had been carried inwards by NATURAL WATER.

LAUGHING BUFFALO (CW Brown) was crowded on jumping between DRAGON STEED (M Kellady) and SQUIRE BENTLEY, which had been carried inwards by AQUALAD (App MM Firdaus).

Approaching the 1200m, ZARULES was proving difficult to handle and got its head up when racing up onto the heels of RAINBOW FISH.

SQUIRE BENTLEY and MEGABUCKS (K Fujii) both raced wide throughout.

Near the 400m, ZARULES fell dislodging its rider. ZAHIR which was following had to be taken outwards in consequence. An Inquiry into this incident will be held at a date to be fixed.

Approaching the 350m, GURU-GURU (I Azhar) and SQUIRE BENTLEY made contact.

A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on ZARULES which revealed that the gelding returned with blood from its right sinus.

 RACE 5:  MACAU JOCKEY CLUB TROPHY
                 KRANJI STAKES C - 1600M

WELL DONE (M Nunes) jumped outwards at the start bumping AIR FORCE ONE (K Fujii) out onto the hindquarters of SILENT ARROW (App CK Ng).

KAI POWER (App R Zawari) was slow to begin.

POLE PARADISE (E Chaves) jumped awkwardly outwards making contact with IDYLLIC SCENERY (CW Brown).

WINNING CAUSE (B Vorster) and GOLDEN CURL (App I Amirul) bumped on jumping.

GOLDEN CURL raced wide throughout.

BOB (App R Rueven) mistrode after brushing the running rail approaching the 400m.

 RACE 6:  WEALTH & PROSPERITY STAKES
                 KRANJI  STAKES D, DIV 2 - 1200M

Acting on veterinary advice that LUCKY COMMAND (CW Brown) was found to be lame off-fore, the Panel of Stewards ordered its withdrawal at 1528Hrs. In terms of MRA Regulation 24.2, it must be presented to an Official Veterinary Surgeon prior to being declared to race again.

MY REACH (I Azhar) and SEASONS ECHO (App CC Wong) bumped on jumping. Shortly after, SEASONS ECHO was bumped outwards when MY REACH was in turn bumped outwards by MAPLE STAR (App I Amirul), when this gelding was carried outwards by FAST EDITION (K A’Isisuhairi).

Near the 900m, SOON YI (TH Koh) shifted outwards bumping MAPLE STAR out onto MY REACH.

MY REACH and MAPLE STAR raced wide from the 800m.

Making the turn into the straight, KAISER BRIGHT (K Fujii) steadied off the heels of KING OF THIEVES (E Chaves).

GALLANT HEIGHTS (App M Jailani) had a tendency to lay inwards between the 400m and the 200m.

Approaching the 200m, SAVAGE STORM (App MM Firdaus) brushed with FAST EDITION on a couple of occasions when coming to the outside of STIRLING (M Nunes).

Passing the 100m, FAST EDITION momentarily steadied when SAVAGE STORM shifted outwards under pressure.

SEASONS ECHO had a tendency to lay inwards over the final 100m.

A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on KING OF THIEVES which revealed no apparent abnormality.

 RACE 7:  ABUNDANCE STAKES
                 CLASS 3 - 1200M

LIM’S RALLY (KB Soo) was bumped at the start by FORTUNE WINNER (I Azhar), which began awkwardly and shifted outwards.

LIM’S RALLY and ROYAL FORTUNE (I Saifudin) raced keenly in the early stages.

ROYAL FORTUNE and NINETYSEVEN GOLD (K A’Isisuhairi) raced wide throughout.

Making the turn into the straight, LUCKY GIANT (S Sam) had to be steadied outwards away from the heels of RED DAWN (M Kellady), which rolled outwards slightly. LIM’S RALLY, which was following, was carried wider on the track. In this incident, FORTUNE WINNER was momentarily steadied off the heels of LIM’S RALLY.

ROYAL FORTUNE had a tendency to lay outwards near the 400M and in so doing, carried NINETYSEVEN GOLD wider on the track.

The Farrier reported that TAFFETAS (App Z Zuriman) returned having cast its near-fore plate.

A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on LIM’S RALLY which revealed no apparent abnormality.

A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on DIVIDED HOUSE which revealed that the horse returned exhibiting signs of respiratory distress after the race. DIVIDED HOUSE will be required to pass a 1000m gallop trial and veterinary examination prior to being declared to race again.

 RACE 8:  WINDFALL STAKES
                 CLASS 2 - 1600M

HAPPY CAT (App R Zawari) jumped awkwardly outwards at the start bumping PEREGRINE FALCON (E Chaves) out onto PERFECTLY ECLIPSE (App MM Firdaus).

ADRENALINE (M Nunes) jumped away awkwardly.

PINYIN (S Sam) was slow into stride.

SECONDWAVE (App CC Wong) raced wide throughout.

HAPPY CAT had difficulty obtaining a clear run in the early part of the straight.

Passing the 100m, JACKPOT (D Beasley) steadied when carried outwards by GREENBACK (App M Khalid), which shifted outwards under pressure.

PERFECTLY ECLIPSE which raced poorly will be required to pass a 1000m gallop trial and veterinary examination prior to being declared to race again.

 RACE 9:  FORTUNE BOWL
                 SINGAPORE GROUP 3 (CW) - 2000M

Permission was granted for Jockey O Chavez to replace Jockey M Rodd on MARTIN as the latter was unable to make the weight. Jockey Rodd was subsequently fined a sum of S$200 in terms of MRA Rule 107(9).

BLUE DANUBE (D Beasley) and PERFECT P (B Vorster) were both crowded on jumping between QUECHUA (CW Brown), which jumped inwards and ORDER OF THE SUN (R Woodworth), which jumped outwards at the start.

Jockey Vorster, the rider of PERFECT P, reported that the saddle on PERFECT P slipped back during the race. This was confirmed by the Veterinary Surgeon.

 RACE 10:  YEAR OF SUCCESS STAKES
                   KRANJI STAKES D, DIV 1 - 1200M

Trainer S Gray, when questioned regarding the significant increase in the body weight of PUZZLE (App R Azhar), stated that the gelding had returned from a lengthy spell and had built up significantly during this time. He added that PUZZLE was, in his opinion, fit to start. A Pre-Race veterinary examination passed PUZZLE fit to race.

BRANKSOME (App WT Chung) jumped away awkwardly.

KATAGAS (M Rodd) and PO’DE OURO (App R Rueven) bumped on jumping. Shortly after, KATAGAS eased when crowded between PO’DE OURO and DYNASTY KNIGHT (R Woodworth), which shifted outwards.

Shortly after the start, GOLD STOCK (TH Koh) and BRANKSOME became unbalanced after making contact.

LEADERSHIP (A Da Silva) and PUZZLE both raced wide throughout.

MASTER BANGER (K Fujii) and SCIENCE FICTION (M Nunes) were carried wider on the track making the turn into the straight, when PUZZLE laid outwards.

Near the 350m, GOLD STOCK dipped after laying inwards slightly and becoming awkwardly placed on the heels of PO’DE OURO, which was carried out slightly by KATAGAS, which rolled outwards when held up for clear running.

Near the 100m, D’DON (I Saifudin) momentarily steadied off the heels of DOUBLE CASH (App M Khalid), which rolled inwards.

Jockey Nunes reported that SCIENCE FICTION was making respiratory noises. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed that the horse returned as a roarer. The Veterinary Surgeon also advised that SCIENCE FICTION had previously undergone corrective surgery for this condition.

 RACE 11:  CELEBRATIONS STAKES
                   CLASS 4 - 1400M

SPLENDOR (App K Toh) and KEVIN ELEVEN (K Fujii) bumped on jumping.

METEORBOUND (A Da Silva) raced wide throughout.

HIGHER SOUL (K A’Isisuhairi) had difficulty obtaining a clear run in the early part of the straight.

HAMMER DOWN (App Z Zuriman) was held up for a clear running between the 400m and the 200m.

HIGHER SOUL laid inwards over the final 200m.

A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on LIM’S AFFECTION (KB Soo) which revealed no apparent abnormality.

WAR LORD (App WT Chung) which raced poorly will be required to pass a 1000m gallop trial and veterinary examination prior to being declared to race again.

RACE 2 [TF1404]

At the conclusion of an inquiry on Tuesday, 9 February 2016, Jockey M Ewe, the rider of NATURAL WATER, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that whilst riding NATURAL WATER in Race 2 at the Singapore Turf Club Meeting on Friday, 27 November 2015, near the 1500m, he allowed his mount to shift inwards, when insufficiently clear, thereby crowding WARSHIP (B Vorster) onto MAGIC PAINT (I Saifudin) and SPUR ME ON (CW Brown), with these horses being buffetted . When deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into account his record and the degree of interference and carelessness. Jockey Ewe was suspended from riding in races with effect from Wednesday, 10 February 2016 to Sunday, 14 February 2016 both dates inclusive (two Singapore Race Days). He was advised of his right of appeal.
