Near the 900m, TRINITY TREASURE and HAPPY FEET both checked when racing to the inside of BETTER TIMES (E Aslam). An Inquiry into this incident will be held at a date to be fixed.

An Objection was lodged by Jockey John, the rider of second placed horse, HAPPY FEET, against BETTER TIMES, being declared the winner, on the grounds of interference near the 900m. After considering all of the evidence and after deliberation, the Race Meeting Stewards were of the opinion that the alleged interference had not affected the result of the race and the Objection was overruled. The result stood and Jockey John’s deposit was refunded.

Jockey Azis, when questioned regarding the run of TRINITY TREASURE, stated that after being restless in the barrier, TRINITY TREASURE jumped away awkwardly. Thereafter, he attempted to ride his mount in a forward position as instructed. However, near the 900m, it received a check after suffering interference and lost ground. RACE MEETING STEWARDS’ HEARING OF AN APPEAL BY TRAINER L LAXON AGAINST THE DECISION OF THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS AND THE PENALTY IMPOSED ON HIM AFTER BEING FOUND GUILTY OF A CHARGE UNDER MRA RULE 134(5) RELATING TO A CERTIFICATE OF ANALYSIS STATING THAT SAMPLE NUMBER 0022123 WHICH REVEALED THE PRESENCE OF 3-HYDROXY-N-METHYLMORPHINAN AND WHICH WAS REPORTED TO HAVE BEEN TAKEN FROM THE HORSE, POWER PLAY, TRAINED BY HIM, WHICH RAN NINTH IN RACE 1 AT THE SINGAPORE TURF CLUB MEETING ON SATURDAY, 22 SEPTEMBER 2007

The Stipendiary Stewards found Trainer L Laxon guilty to a charge under MRA Rule of Racing 134(5) on Monday, 03 December in that he was the Trainer and person responsible for presenting POWER PLAY which took part in Race 1 at the Singapore Turf Club Meeting on Saturday, 22 September 2007 following which a urine sample taken from the ninth placegetter, POWER PLAY, was found to contain the presence of 3-Hydroxy-N-Methylmorphinan, a prohibited substance under the MRA Rules of Racing.

Trainer Laxon was fined a sum of S$15,000 and was advised of his Right of Appeal.

In terms of Rule 134(10), POWER PLAY was disqualified from the race and the result amended accordingly.

On Tuesday, 4 December 2007, Trainer Laxon exercised his Right of Appeal against the decision of the Stipendiary Stewards and the penalty imposed on him.

SINGAPORE MARCH MEETING 2008
WEDNESDAY, 5 MARCH 2008:

RACE 5

On Friday, 07 March 2008, the Stewards concluded an Inquiry into the reasons for MAGIC ACE (App S Cheam) having to check shortly after the start when racing between PAGO KID (R Woodworth) on its inside and ZLATKO (Alan Ng) and D’VINE (App J Low) on its outside. It was established that shortly after the start, ZLATKO laid inwards and away from D’VINE and in so doing, crowding MAGIC ACE in onto PAGO KID. This resulted in MAGIC ACE being buffeted for some distance and thereafter checking and losing ground. In the circumstances, no blame could be attributed to any rider and as such, no further action was taken.
