 RACE 1:  MAIDEN - 1400M

SIR NORTH (App M Razali), which was difficult to be loaded and caused some delay, will be required to pass one starting stall test prior to being entered to race again in terms of MRA Rule 78(2).

PAYBACK TIME (R Woodworth) and MIGHTY RAJAH (J Powell) bumped on jumping.

Shortly after the start, SAMURAI SOUL (S John) steadied away from the heels of MIGHTY RAJAH.

Shortly after passing the 800m, HAVOC (App M Ewe) steadied when tightened to the inside of TIEN MA (KB Soo), which shifted inwards away from MIGHTY RAJAH, which also rolled inwards.

LIM’S ADVENTURE (D Beasley) was held up and unable to improve between the 700m and the 400m.

SIR NORTH was obliged to race wide throughout.

SAMURAI SOUL, which raced poorly, will be required to pass a 1000m gallop trial and veterinary examination prior to being entered to race again.

 RACE 2:  RESTRICTED MAIDEN - 1200M

RIGHT CLICK (M Kellady) began awkwardly, shifted inwards and bumped SONIC (J Powell).

BLUE CANYON (App M Airy) fly-jumped at the start.

SHINKO EXPRESS (G McKeon), which was slightly slow to begin, was hampered shortly after by SHAMBALA (M Gallagher), which shifted outwards.

In the backstraight, GALLANT (R Woodworth) laid inwards and brushed the running rail on a number of occasions.

Near the 700m, ACE AMADEUS (KB Soo) had to be steadied after racing up onto the heels of SIMPSON (R Fradd).

VAL ALGEO (N Callow) was inclined to race greenly in the straight.

 RACE 3:  CLASS 5 - 1400M

EAST COAST EXPRESS (N Callow), which was fractious in the barrier, broke through the gate, dislodged its rider and galloped riderless for some distance before being captured. EAST COAST EXPRESS was withdrawn by order of the Race Meeting Stewards at 1449Hr. EAST COAST EXPRESS will be required to pass one starting stall test prior to being entered to race again in terms of MRA Rule 78(2).

CLOONEY (App SH Low) and BE WITH YOU (B Vorster) bumped on jumping.

Shortly after the start, CONQUER TIME (App M Ewe) and SILENCE TOUCH (KB Soo) were both crowded between SHAHINI (O Chavez), which shifted inwards and FASHION THUNDER (R Fradd), which shifted outwards.

CLOONEY and BE WITH YOU both had a tendency to overrace in the backstraight.

HALL OF FAME (R Stewart) was obliged to race wide throughout.

Near the 700m, CONQUER TIME steadied when tightened between HALL OF FAME and SILENCE TOUCH.

Approaching the 300m, Jockey S John, the rider of STILL WATER, dropped his whip. He was subsequently warned that a repetition of dropping his whip may lead to a penalty being imposed in future.

A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on HALL OF FAME which revealed no apparent abnormality.

 RACE 4:  INITIATION - 1600M

The race was rescheduled to start at 1520Hrs.

I AM THE BOSS (E Aslam), VAL ANGEL (N Callow) and LIANG KEE (J Powell) were all slow to begin.

Near the 1200m, GREY MAGIC (R Fradd) checked when racing to the inside of ARBITRATOR (D Beasley) and HARUNDSAN (M Kellady). An Inquiry into this incident will be held at a date to be fixed.

Shortly after, CHEVY (O Chavez) checked to the inside of LEADING GENERAL (B Vorster). An Inquiry into this incident will be held at a date to be fixed.

Near the 1000m, CHEVY commenced to overrace and had to be restrained off the heels of GREY MAGIC. As a result, CHEVY and MILLION TREASURES (KB Soo) bumped on a number of occasions.

Near the 700m, CELESTIAL BLUE (R Stewart) checked when racing to the outside of KASHANI STAR (M Gallagher) and VAL ANGEL. An Inquiry into this incident will be held at a date to be fixed.

Passing the 650m, LEADING GENERAL checked when racing to the inside of KASHANI STAR and POWER N WIN (App M Zaki). An Inquiry into this incident will be held at a date to be fixed.

Near the 300m, LIANG KEE was momentarily held up on the heels of ARBITRATOR.

CELESTIAL BLUE, which raced poorly, will be required to pass a 1000m gallop trial and veterinary examination prior to being entered to race again.

 RACE 5:  CLASS 4, DIV 1 - 1400M

Acting on veterinary advice that SOVEREIGN RAIN (J Saimee) was found to be lame off-fore, the Race Meeting Stewards ordered its withdrawal at 1243Hrs. In terms of MRA Regulation 24.2, it must be presented to an Official Veterinary Surgeon prior to being declared to race again.

The race was rescheduled to start at 1550Hrs.

GO FOR IT (G McKeon) was slow into stride.

PIERCING (M Kellady) was inclined to lay outwards from the 800m.

GO FOR IT was held up for a run between the 450 until approaching the 300m.

Shortly after making the turn into the straight, Jockey N Callow, the rider of WINNING EXPERT, dropped his off-side rein which he regained shortly thereafter.

 RACE 6:  NOVICE - 1200M

The race was rescheduled to start at 1620Hrs.

MAJOR YEATES (G McKeon) and RAINERA (App KK Ng) were both slow to begin.

Shortly after passing the 800m, MAJOR YEATES, which was laying outwards, had to be steadied off the heels of BETTER TIMES (E Aslam).

Jockey N Callow, the rider of BIG MOMENT, reported that his horse was not striding out freely. BIG MOMENT was impounded for routine veterinary and analytical examination. The Veterinary Surgeon reported no apparent abnormality.

GOLD HELP (D Beasley) was impounded for routine veterinary and analytical examination. The Veterinary Surgeon reported no apparent abnormality.

 RACE 7:  CLASS 5 - 1600M

Prior to the start, D’MIGHTY BULL (D Beasley) was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to race.

RESOURCEFUL (G McKeon) and BLAZE THE TRAIL (B Vorster) were both slow to begin.

SILVER ARROW (M Gallagher) steadied on jumping when GHI BEADS (E Legrix) shifted outwards.

KING PHARAOH (App M Razali) WAS difficult to settle in the early and middle stages.

Shortly after passing the 800m, BLAZE THE TRAIL, which was racing keenly, had to be restrained off the heels of D’MIGHTY BULL.

TEXTER (App KK Ng) was held up from the 400m and the 350 when had to be taken outwards for a clear run and in so doing carried UP AHEAD (J Powell) wider.

Jockey R Fradd, the rider of SKY AIRWAYS, reported that his horse was not striding out freely. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormality.

D’MIGHTY BULL was impounded for routine veterinary and analytical examination. The Veterinary Surgeon reported no apparent abnormality.

 RACE 8:  OPEN - 1200M

Prior to the start, ROYAL STAR (O Chavez) was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to race.

GRANT’S SUCCESS (B Vorster) was slow to begin.

CAPABLANCA (App SH Low) proved very difficult to settle in the early and middle stages when overracing.

LIM’S FIGHTER (D Beasley) was held up from the 400m and had to be taken outwards approaching the 200m to obtain a clear run.

The Veterinary Surgeon reported that LIM’S OBJECTIVE (A Fiezan) bled. In terms of MRA Rule 92(5), it will not be permitted to canter or gallop on the main training tracks of any racecourse for a period of two months, and may not start in any race for a period of six months, and then only after having satisfactorily passed a bleeder’s test.

A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on CAPABLANCA which revealed no apparent abnormality.

Jockey Chavez, the rider of ROYAL STAR, reported that his horse was not striding out freely. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormality.

WHY BE (N Callow) was impounded for routine veterinary and analytical examination. The Veterinary Surgeon reported no apparent abnormality.

LIM’S FIGHTER was impounded for routine veterinary and analytical examination. The Veterinary Surgeon reported that the horse exhibited signs of respiratory distress after the race. LIM’S FIGHTER will be required to pass a 1000m gallop trial and veterinary examination prior to being entered to race again.

 RACE 9:  CLASS 4 - 1600M

Prior to the running of Race 9, Trainer C Brown advised the Stewards that his instructions to Jockey R Woodworth, the rider of DARING COMMANDER, if circumstances permit, to ride in a more forward position.

PRECISE (A Fiezan) and KIWIJAZZ (M Gallagher) were both slow to begin.

RICOCO (B Vorster) began awkwardly and shifted inwards abruptly.

A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on KAMSKY (E Legrix) which revealed no apparent abnormality.

RISING SPIRIT (J Powell) was impounded for routine veterinary and analytical examination. The Veterinary Surgeon reported no apparent abnormality.

 RACE 10:  CLASS 3 - 2000M

Acting on veterinary advice that EURO EXPRESS (O Chavez) was found to be lame off-fore, the Race Meeting Stewards ordered its withdrawal at 1749Hrs. In terms of MRA Regulation 24.2, it must be presented to an Official Veterinary Surgeon prior to being declared to race again.

TWICE REGAL (R Fradd) raced fiercely in the early and middle stages and near the 1400m, was restrained off the heels of ACE CELEBRATIONS (N Callow).

Jockey G McKeon, the rider of BLACK JAMBHALA, reported that his horse was not striding out freely. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormality. BLACK JAMBHALA, which raced poorly, will be required to pass a 1000m gallop trial and veterinary examination prior to being entered to race again.

A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on ZOID (B Vorster) which revealed no apparent abnormality.

Jockey A Fiezan who rode his 80th winner on EL DORADO will only be permitted to claim 1Kg allowance with effect from Wednesday, 07 May 2008.

 RACE 11:  CLASS 4, DIV 2 - 1400M

LIM’S CHARGE (N Callow) was slow to begin.

Shortly after the start, AUGUST MOON (B Vorster) steadied and was crowded between PRINCE GOLD (E Legrix), which was carried inwards by RIO (Alan Ng) and HADRIAN (D Beasley), which shifted outwards.

Near the 1200m, RIGHTHERERIGHTNOW (M Gallagher) was momentarily crowded when racing to the inside of MIGHTY LAD (R Fradd).

Near the 500m, LIM’S CHARGE broke down and dislodged its rider. The Veterinary Surgeon reported that LIM’S CHARGE broke its off-fore leg and was subsequently humanely euthanised.

ON THE LINE (S John) got its head up when crowded between PRINCE GOLD and RIO, which laid inwards.

Jockey Legrix and Jockey Fradd, the riders of PRINCE GOLD and MIGHTY LAD respectively, reported that their horses were not striding out freely. Subsequent veterinary examinations revealed no apparent abnormality.

RIGHTHERERIGHTNOW was impounded for routine veterinary and analytical examination. The Veterinary Surgeon reported that the horse returned lame off-fore. RIGHTHEREIGHTNOW will be required to pass a 1000m gallop trial and veterinary examination prior to being entered to race again.

On Saturday, 03 May 2008, Jockey M Gallagher, the rider of TEMUJIN, exercised his Right of Appeal against the decision of the Stipendiary Stewards and the penalty imposed on him. On application, he was granted a Stay of Sentence. The Appeal will be heard at a date to be fixed.
