 RACE 1:  MAIDEN - 1400M

As there was no similar claiming Jockey available, the Stewards gave permission for App M Zaki to replace Jockey E Aslam on I AM THE BOSS as Jockey Aslam failed to arrive on course. Jockey Aslam was fined S$200 for breaching MRA Rule 44(2) in that he failed to arrive on course by the prescribed time.

I AM THE BOSS, which was slow to begin, showed no early pace.

ACE ADMIRE (R Fradd) jumped inwards at the start and made contact with FINGERS CROSSED (R Woodworth).

Approaching the 1100m, POWER N WIN (App M Ewe) had to be eased off the heels of NOTHING TO FEAR (App J Low), which steadied off the heels of IMPERIALARDO (App M Airy), which rolled inwards. App Airy was subsequently shown the film of the incident and warned to exercise greater care when shifting ground in future.

Near the 1100m, SIR TIKI (S John) eased when crowded to the inside of FINGERS CROSSED, which in turn was racing tight to the inside of CHEYENNE STAR (E Legrix).

Approaching the turn into the straight, NOTHING TO FEAR shifted inwards abruptly thereby crowding FINGERS CROSSED.

I AM THE BOSS hung inwards over the final 100m.

 RACE 2:  RESTRICTED MAIDEN - 1600M

WICKET (A Fiezan) was slow to begin.

BLITZ (M Gallagher) began awkwardly.

Approaching the 1400m, CALL D’LIMIT (Din Azis) commenced to race keenly and got its head up on a couple of occasions.

CALL D’LIMIT then continued to race keenly for the remaining of the backstraight.

Approaching the turn, MAN IN BLACK (R Stewart), which commenced to give ground, hung inwards and crowded CALL D’LIMIT, which had to check.

In the straight, MAN IN BLACK continued to hang inwards badly.

A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on BLITZ which revealed no apparent abnormality.

A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on WICKET which revealed no apparent abnormality. WICKET, which raced poorly, will be required to pass a 1000m gallop trial and veterinary examination prior to being entered to race again.

 RACE 3:  CLASS 5 - 1100M (SAND)

MOONLIGHT (M Zaidi) lost ground after the start when crowded between GEM ARC (App J Farook) and HAPPY FEELINGS (Din Azis).

HAPPY FEELINGS got its head up and was reluctant to stride out between the 600m and the 400m.

HAPPY FEELINGS was impounded for routine veterinary and analytical examination. The Veterinary Surgeon reported no apparent abnormality.

The Veterinary Surgeon reported that TRIPLE WONDER (M Hairin) returned lame off-fore. TRIPLE WONDER will be required to pass a 1000m gallop trial and veterinary examination prior to being entered to race again.

 RACE 4:  CLASS 4 - 1200M (SAND)

MAGIC ACE (N Callow) was slow to begin.

Shortly after the start, MASTERFUL (E Aslam) and CONTANGO (S John) bumped.

STILLETO (R Stewart) hung outwards badly from the 800m until straightening.

 RACE 5:  CLASS 4 - 2000M

ACE CENTURION (J Powell) jumped away awkwardly.

ASPIRANT EAGER (App M Ewe) was slow to begin and shortly after had to be steadied off the heels of KIWI MAESTRO (D Beasley), which shifted outwards.

Near the 1800m, ASPIRANT EAGER, which was pulling hard, had to be eased off the heels of IT’S MY MAGIC (J Saimee). ASPIRANT EAGER continued to race ungenerously for some distance.

GURU GLEE (N Callow) pulled hard in the middle stages.

Shortly after making the turn into the straight, TRIPLE SEVEN (App J Farook) was held up on the heels of IT’S MY MAGIC and unable to improve.

Near the 400m, KIPADI (M Gallagher) and EASE (B Vorster) bumped.

Jockey Saimee, the rider of IT’S MY MAGIC, was fined S$500 for making a celebratory gesture prior to the Finish in terms of MRA Rule 44(10).

Jockey Vorster, the rider of EASE, reported that his horse was not striding out freely. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormality.

Jockey Callow, the rider of GURU GLEE, was exempted from the weigh-in as he was required to be attended by the Course Medical Officer who subsequently declared Jockey Callow unfit to fulfil his remaining riding engagements.

 RACE 6:  CLASS 5 - 1600M (SAND)

EXTRA POWER (App J Farook) and SIDFORD (A Fiezan) bumped on jumping.

Near the 1400m, BLAZE THE TRAIL (B Vorster) eased when racing to the inside of CLOONEY (R Stewart), which shifted inwards. Jockey Stewart was subsequently shown the film of the incident and warned to exercise greater care when shifting ground in future.

Passing the 1200m, LORD JACK (J Powell) got its head up when being steadied whilst racing to the inside of SIDFORD.

A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on RED AUSPICE (J Saimee) which revealed that the horse returned lame off-fore. RED AUSPICE will be required to pass a 1000m gallop trial and veterinary examination prior to being entered to race again.

 RACE 7:  OPEN - 2000M

Jockey M Kellady was fined S$200 in terms of MRA Rule 107(9) for having accepted the ride on WORTH THE WAIT for which he was unable to make the correct weight.

WORTH THE WAIT and RAUL (S Sam) both pulled hard in the early stages.

BIG VALOUR (B Vorster) was impounded for routine veterinary and analytical examination. The Veterinary Surgeon reported no apparent abnormality.

 RACE 8:  KRANJI STAKES C - 1700M (SAND)

Shortly after passing the 600m, VICTORY CONQUEROR (J Powell) blundered after clipping the heels of ALL WIN (A Fiezan), which was giving ground. VALIANT MASTER (Din Azis) and RISING SPIRIT (R Fradd), which were both following, were inconvenienced as a result.

A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on ALL WIN which revealed that the horse returned with a cut on its near-hind. ALL WIN, which raced poorly, will be required to pass a 1000m gallop trial and veterinary examination prior to being entered to race again.

A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on VICTORY CONQUEROR which revealed no apparent abnormality.

 RACE 9:  BENCHMARK 83 - 1600M

STARBEEL (M Gallagher) and ROYAL COMMANDER (Din Azis) were both slow to begin.

Shortly after making the turn into the straight, LIM’S CONNECTION (D Beasley) was momentarily held up on the inside of FOREST SPIRIT (R Fradd).

Passing the 200m, KING OF HONOUR (E Legrix) and DESTINY’S DAY (R Woodworth) made contact when racing tight.

The Stipendiary Stewards recommenced the above Inquiry on Monday, 31 March 2008. Trainer C Leck was found guilty to the following charges under MRA Rule of Racing 134(5) in that:

(1) he was the Trainer and person responsible for presenting ARABIAN STAR to race in Race 4 at the Singapore Turf Club Meeting on Friday, 20 July 2007 following which a urine sample taken from the tenth placegetter, ARABIAN STAR, was found to contain the presence of metabolites of ACEPROMAZINE, a prohibited substance under the MRA Rules of Racing.

(2) he was the Trainer and person responsible for presenting KINGTRAP to race in Race 5 at the Singapore Turf Club Meeting on Friday, 20 July 2007 following which a urine sample taken from the eleventh placegetter, KINGTRAP, was found to contain the presence of metabolites of ACEPROMAZINE, a prohibited substance under the MRA Rules of Racing.

(3) he was the Trainer and person responsible for presenting JUSTOHELP to race in Race 7 at the Singapore Turf Club Meeting on Friday, 20 July 2007 following which a urine sample taken from the eleventh placegetter, JUSTOHELP, was found to contain the presence of metabolites of ACEPROMAZINE, a prohibited substance under the MRA Rules of Racing.

In terms of Rule 134(10), ARABIAN STAR, KINGTRAP and JUSTOHELP were disqualified from their respective races and the results amended accordingly.

After taking submissions from Trainer Leck in regards to penalty and following advice of matters regarding police investigations, the Stipendiary Stewards adjourned to consider the matter of penalty and will hand down their determination at a date to be fixed.
