 GENERAL

RACE 5 (R1532),  SATURDAY, 26 DECEMBER 2015, 2ND DAY, PENANG YANG DI-PERTUA NEGERI GOLD CUP DECEMBER MEETING 2015

RACE 8 (R1542), SUNDAY, 27 DECEMBER 2015, 3RD DAY, PENANG YANG DI-PERTUA NEGERI GOLD CUP DECEMBER MEETING 2015

At the conclusion of an inquiry today (23 January 2016) at the Penang Turf Club, App M Hanif, the rider of PROPITIONS GOLD, in the presence of his acting master Trainer KF Wong, and trainer of PROPITIONS GOLD, pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 44(10) for failing to ride PROPITIONS GOLD to the satisfaction of the Stewards in the above race. The particulars of the charge were that from shortly after the start to approximately the 500m mark, he gave up his advantage of an inside draw as well as the advantage of racing with the speed and the pace, thereby lost his position when his horse was travelling very well and when it was unreasonable to give up his rightful position. As a consequence, this put PROPITIONS GOLD too far back when entering the home straight.

When deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into account the facts of this case and App M Hanif’s riding record. App M Hanif was suspended from riding in races for a period of three months with effect from Monday, 25 January 2016 and to expire on Sunday, 24 April 2016, both days inclusive. In addition, App M Hanif was fined the sum RM10,000. He was advised of his right of appeal (12.50 pm).
