MAY MEETING
Third Day,  Saturday,  10 May 2008

 RACE 1:  MAIDEN - 1700M

THE SPECIAL ONE hung in in the straight.

KIM DRAGON and MAZENZE came together at about the 100m.

App HS Gill, the rider of KIM DRAGON, reported that the saddle on his horse slipped backwards during running. He was warned that in future he must notify the Stewards prior to removing the saddle.

 RACE 2:  CLASS 5 - 1400M

HULK GENERAL, which was up 15kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

BLUSHING FAME jumped awkwardly at the start.

WINNING ELEVEN stumbled badly shortly after the start.

TIGER IN THE HUNT was obliged to race wide on the turn.

WINNING ELEVEN shifted in from the whip in the straight, carrying BLUSHING FAME inwards.

At approximately the 500m mark, CHEVAL DAUM steadied off the heels of INDIAN RUNNER which commenced to give ground.

At approximately the 350m mark, BLUSHING FAME steadied outwards over the heels of INDIAN RUNNER which was giving ground, carrying WINNING ELEVEN outwards slightly.

The saddle on SEE SPIRIT slipped backwards during running.

CLASSIC GOLD and TIGER IN THE HUNT, which both raced poorly, will each be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being entered to race again.

Jockey A Cavallo, the rider of LION CITY GLORY, Jockey V Sivan, the rider of HULK GENERAL and App Lou Ho, the rider of WINNING ELEVEN, reported that their horses did not act in the going.

A post-race veterinary examination of INDIAN RUNNER revealed no obvious abnormality. The gelding, which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being entered to race again.

A post-race veterinary examination of HULK GENERAL revealed no obvious abnormality. The gelding was impounded.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that HAPPY MASTER returned cut into off-fore and off-hind. The gelding was impounded.

 RACE 3:  CLASS 5 - 1400M

MI BESTZ, a course scratching as it was lame near-fore fetlock, will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being entered to race again.

FLASH OF LIGHT, which jumped awkwardly and threw its head, was thereafter inconvenienced when FLASHMAN jumped awkwardly outwards.

SMART DECISION jumped awkwardly outwards, resulting in AL KHOBAR and GLORY ROAD coming together.

RAPID CRUSHING and FLASHMAN, which both raced poorly, will each be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being entered to race again.

Jockey H Barnabas, the rider of FLASH OF LIGHT, appeared before the board and was shown the film of the start. He was warned that in future he would be expected to ensure that he is ready once being placed in the barrier.

Jockey I Azhar, the rider of AL KHOBAR, reported that his horse did not act in the going.

After taking evidence from Jockey L Sofhan, the rider of KINGSLEY, and Trainer P Roslan, the inquiry into the running and handling of KINGSLEY was adjourned to Sunday, 11 May 2008.

 RACE 4:  MAIDEN - 1200M

WONDERFUL MELANG, a course scratching as it was lame off-fore, will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being entered to race again.

CAPRI jumped awkwardly outwards, having to be steadied off the heels of SILENT AGE.

WONDERFUL BOY jumped awkwardly inwards, making contact with CARRY ON WINNING.

CAPRI, IRON MAN and SILENT AGE, which all raced poorly, will each be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being entered to race again.

A post-race veterinary examination of JERAM FORTUNE revealed no obvious abnormality. The gelding, which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being entered to race again.

At the conclusion of an inquiry today, Jockey I Saifudin, the rider of SITARA’S MUSIC, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(c) in that whilst riding SITARA’S MUSIC in this race, he shifted in shortly after the start, resulting in JERAM FORTUNE becoming cramped and having to check. Jockey I Saifudin was suspended from riding in races for a period of four race days with effect from 12 May 2008 and to expire on 23 May 2008, both days inclusive. He was advised of his right of appeal (3:30pm).

At the conclusion of an inquiry today, Jockey A Kumarentheran, the rider of SILENT AGE, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(c) in that at about the 800m whilst riding SILENT AGE in this race, he allowed his horse to shift in when insufficiently clear of JERAM FORTUNE, causing that horse to check. Jockey A Kumarentheran was suspended from riding in races for a period of four race days with effect from 12 May 2008 and to expire on 23 May 2008, both days inclusive. He was advised of his right of appeal (4:30pm).

 RACE 5:  CLASS 5 - 1200M

ACE FOX, a course scratching as it had sustained a cut to its near-fore heel, will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being entered to race again.

The Stewards permitted Jockey O Chavez to replace Jockey M Wepner on FIRST OF MAY as the latter was certified unwell.

UNLIMITED SPEED was slow to begin.

Approaching the 900m, STAR DANCER steadied when FOXY LADY shifted out over the heels of COMMON’S JADE and at the same time, CLASSIC GENERAL rolled in slightly.

MAIN POWER and LIM’S WORLD were obliged to race wide on the turn.

STAR DANCER had a tendency to lay in in the home straight.

A post-race veterinary examination of STAR DANCER revealed no obvious abnormality. The gelding was impounded.

 RACE 6:  CLASS 4 - 1700M

DASHING WONDER jumped awkwardly outwards, inconveniencing HOT EGO.

DYNASTY VADER hung in in the straight.

App SC Liew, the rider of DASANCHEZ, was warned that in future he would be expected to make greater attempt to settle his horse once in the lead.

App S Fauzi, the rider of DYNASTY VADER, reported that his horse was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of DYNASTY VADER revealed no obvious abnormality.

A post-race veterinary examination of HOT EGO revealed no obvious abnormality. The gelding was impounded.

 RACE 7:  CLASS 5 - 2000M

The Stewards permitted Jockey I Saifudin to replace Jockey M Wepner on STAY THE CAUSE.

INNER SANCTUM was slow into stride.

Passing the 300m mark, SPEED WARRIOR had to steady as a result of JOKER WARRIOR rolling outwards.

BIG CAPACITY was baulked between the 300m and 150m.

At about the 100m, SPEED LION dipped.

Jockey WK Yan, the rider of BIG CAPACITY, reported that his horse was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of BIG CAPACITY revealed no obvious abnormality.

Jockey A Cavallo, the rider of SPEED LION, reported that his horse did not act in the going.

A post-race veterinary examination of STAY THE CAUSE revealed no obvious abnormality.

 RACE 8:  DA MA CAI STAKES,  CLASS 4, PREMIER - 1400M

TABLE TALK, a course scratching as it was suffering from a corneal ulcer on the right eye, will be required to undergo a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

The Stewards permitted Jockey S Salee to replace Jockey M Wepner on YHARO.

MAKE NO MISTAKE, which was down 16kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

JERAM DELIGHT was slow into stride.

At approximately the 1100m mark, FUTURE FORTUNE became cramped and had to steady as a result of SPARKLING RAINBOW rolling inwards. App Lou Ho, the rider of SPARKLING RAINBOW, was shown the film of the incident and warned to exercise more care when shifting ground in future.

At about the 500m mark, YHARO ran up to and clipped the heels of MAKE NO MISTAKE which was giving ground. SPARKLING RAINBOW had to steady in this incident.

NORTHERN EXPRESS, COLOURLAND CLASSIC, JACKSON, PACIFIC GOLD and KING’S ANGEL, which all raced poorly, will each be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being entered to race again.

A post-race veterinary examination of MAKE NO MISTAKE revealed no obvious abnormality. The gelding, which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being entered to race again.

 RACE 9:  CLASS 4 - 1400M

VENOM, a course scratching as it was sore both fore fetlocks, will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being entered to race again.

The Stewards permitted Jockey D Chong to replace Jockey M Wepner on TIME LION.

OUR POLLY and DRAGON OF JERAM were slow into stride.

JOKER DE ARMADA was pulling hard in the early stages.

Passing the 1200m mark, SPEED FIRE faltered.

D’MIGHTY STAR and OUR POLLY were obliged to race wide on the turn.

App Farick Tan, the rider of LAW AND ORDER which commenced to bleed on the turn, was warned that in future he would be expected to ease his mount out of the race and dismount under similar circumstances, failing which action may be taken against him.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that JOKER DE ARMADA and LAW AND ORDER bled and will each be barred from racing for a period of three months under MRA Rule 92(3)(a)&(b). JOKER DE ARMADA was impounded.

A post-race veterinary examination of D’MIGHTY STAR revealed no obvious abnormality. The gelding was impounded.

 GENERAL

PENANG TURF CLUB MAY MEETING 2008

Trainer P Tennent was fined RM500 (for each horse) under the Penang Turf Club Official May Meeting 2008 Official Programme for withdrawing the entered horses BORN FREE, FANTASTIC FORTUNE and CONCRESCENCE from the Penang May Meeting 2008 without a Veterinary Certificate.

POST-RACE URINE:  19 – 20 APRIL 2008
SELANGOR TURF CLUB GOLD CUP MEETING 2008

The report dated 2 May 2008 (V08/26.1) from the Chief Analyst of Veterinary Forensic Laboratory stated that 52 coded urine and 54 sets of coded blood samples from the above-mentioned race meeting were received on 21 April 2008, for analysis under the MRA Rules and Regulations. No prohibited substances were detected.
