First Day,  Sunday,  6 July 2014

 RACE 1:  CLASS 5 - 1300M

BELWINS, a non-acceptor which had sustained bruised both fore fetlock, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

BERNI DANCER, a non-acceptor which had sustained a sore back, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

JACK OF HEARTS, a non-acceptor which had sustained a nail brick off-hind hoof, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

MINI MOUSE, a non-acceptor which suffered a corneal ulcer right eye, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

OASIS CHARM, a non-acceptor which had sustained a bruised off-fore fetlock, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

LUCKY CAT, a course scratching as it had sustained a left eyelid laceration, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

CIZEN GIFT, which was up 17kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

Trainer S Edwards was fined RM250 for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for failing to confirm with Jockey Lou Ho before declaring him on AMPED. The Stewards permitted Jockey How Yang to replace Jockey Lou Ho on AMPED.

At the start, BLACK AHEAD (I Fadzlei) jumped awkwardly.

Shortly after the start, LEE’S LEGEND (S Salee) stumbled.

In the early and middle stages, BLACK AHEAD raced ungenerously with its head up.

At approximately the 250m, BLACK AHEAD shifted in under pressure and bumped the running rail. Jockey I Fadzlei was warned to straighten his mounts more quickly in future when they shift ground.

Near the 250m, COLOURLAND KID (App F Yusoff) steadied and shifted out to avoid the heels of KENDARY (Alex Chew) which was taken out by GOOD CODE (HS Gill) which shifted out in order to obtain clear running. Jockey HS Gill was warned to use more care when shifting ground in future.

Post-race veterinary examinations of BLACK AHEAD, THESTARISHERE (App Z Khairil), and GLORY BETTING (S Muniandy) revealed no obvious abnormality.

Jockey I Azhar, the rider of GHOST BUDDY, reported that his mount was making respiratory noises. A post-race veterinary examination of the horse revealed no obvious abnormality.

Jockey S Salee, the rider of LEE’S LEGEND, reported that his mount was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed no obvious abnormality. LEE’S LEGEND, which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being declared to race again.

 RACE 2:  CLASS 5 - 1300M

FREEHOLD, a non-acceptor which had sustained a bruised left knee, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

RUMPELSTILTSKIN, a non-acceptor which had sustained a bruised near-fore fetlock, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

Emergency acceptors SPEED TRAIN and SERDANG MAN were withdrawn due to a capacity field.

TUXEDO URCHIN, a course scratching as it had suffered a forehead laceration, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

GHOST VALLEY, which was down 26kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

At the start, CIZEN PURE (App F Yusoff) jumped awkwardly and threw its head up. App F Yusoff in the presence of his master, Trainer Dr SH Tan was warned and told that he must give sufficient rein to all his mounts in future.

THE SUNBELT (App CK Ng) was slow into stride.

Post-race veterinary examinations of CIZEN PURE and SACRED DEW (App SU Lim) revealed no obvious abnormality.

The Veterinary Surgeon reported that DISTANT GLORY (Alex Chew) returned lame in the off-fore leg and REEL SCHMICK (Y Aify) returned lame in the near-fore leg. DISTANT GLORY and REEL SCHMICK will each be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being declared to race again.

When questioned regarding the poor performance of LEE’S MELODY (S Salee), Trainer B Ng could offer no tangible explanation as to the performance as he expected the horse to run well today, however, he said that being a light-framed horse, he believed that LEE’S MELODY could not back up and he will give more time between the horse’s racing starts. A post-race veterinary examination of LEE’S MELODY revealed no obvious abnormality. LEE’S MELODY, which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being declared to race again.

 RACE 3:  CLASS 4 - 1100M

FAIRBORN, a non-acceptor which had sustained bruised near-fore suspensory, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

ALL GOOD, a non-acceptor which had sustained a cut off-hind pastern, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

CERIUM, a non-acceptor as it had sustained bruised off-fore suspensory, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

Emergency acceptor RAJAH BROOK was withdrawn due to a capacity field.

TILSWORTH FREDDIE, a course scratching which had sustained bruised near-fore suspensory, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

SUAREZ, which was down 15kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

At the start, ACME (App S Shafrizal) and GOOD MEANING (App CC Wong) were crowded for room when SPEED FLYING (HK Cheng) jumped inwards and COBRADOR (App SU Lim) jumped outwards, resulting in DELTA WING (J Shankar) and GOOD MEANING losing ground in this incident.

Rounding the home turn, ACME shifted out to obtain clear running and in doing so, took DELTA WING wide on the track.

Post-race veterinary examinations of COFFEESHOP GOSSIP (App CK Ng), SPEED FLYING and DELTA WING revealed no obvious abnormality. COFFEESHOP GOSSIP, which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being declared to race again.

Jockey S Salee, the rider of ANAK PUJUT, reported that his mount was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of ANAK PUJUT revealed no obvious abnormality.

 RACE 4:  RESTRICTED MAIDEN - 1300M

SEA WORLD, a course scratching as it had sustained bruised near-fore suspensory, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

SPIN FIRE, which was down 30kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

At the 800m, TRUTH PREVAILS (CK Tan) steadied when TAKE A BOW (App AK Lim) which was racing greenly rolled in. At the 700m, TRUTH PREVAILS checked when TAKE A BOW which was still racing greenly, rolled in. Trainer Anna Scott, acting for Trainer L Moy, was told that a warning had been placed on TAKE A BOW due to its greenness, Trainer L Moy is to endeavor to improve the horse’s racing manners.

Post-race veterinary examinations of SPIN FIRE (Y Aify) and TRUTH PREVAILS revealed no obvious abnormality.

Jockey HS Gill, the rider of OPEN HEART reported that his mount was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of OPEN HEART revealed that it had returned lame in the off-fore leg and as such, will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being declared to race again.

Trainer C Robert, when questioned regarding the poor performance of WORLD HARMONY, stated that he was disappointed with today’s effort, although he requested for WORLD HARMONY to be placed in the barriers late, the gelding was placed in the barrier earlier than he anticipated. In his opinion, this had resulted in WORLD HARMONY coming out of the barriers slowly and was obliged to race further back in the field than in its previous start. His explanation was noted, however, Trainer C Robert was reminded of the rules regarding "in-and-out running" (MRA Rule 117(3)).

A post-race veterinary examination of WORLD HARMONY revealed no obvious abnormality.

 RACE 5:  RESTRICTED MAIDEN - 1300M

PRETTY DWARF, a non-acceptor which had sustained a sore back, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

NEVERUNCONDITIONAL, a non-acceptor which had suffered a bruised near-fore fetlock, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

HENOSIS, MY SWALLOW and LEAP OF FAITH, which were down 18kgs, 28kgs and 16kgs in body weight respectively since their last runs, were checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and were passed fit to start.

Trainer S Edwards was fined RM250 for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for failing to remove the winkers from HENOSIS (App WT Chung) within the stipulated time.

HENOSIS cast its off-hind plate in the Parade Ring and had to be re-shod.

NONEMOREDESERVING (CK Tan) was slow to begin.

Post-race veterinary examinations of HIGH TENSILE (App AK Lim), SIR CHALLAN (S Salee), SUPREME SASSO (J De Souza), YES MADAM (I Azhar), MILAN FEVER (App S Shafrizal) and NONEMOREDESERVING revealed no obvious abnormality. SIR CHALLAN and MILAN FEVER, which raced poorly, will each be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being declared to race again.

The Veterinary Surgeon reported that NEYMAR (App KC Tham) returned, having cast its near-fore plate.

 RACE 6:  CLASS 5 - 1600M

CAVORTING, non-acceptor which had sustained a bruised off-fore fetlock, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

GOOD FRIEND, a non-acceptor which had sustained a bruised off-fore fetlock, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

SMARTY EYE (I Azhar) was slow to begin.

Post-race veterinary examinations of SMARTY EYE, IDEALISTIC MOMENT (H Barnabas), FLYING GIFT (App SU Lim) and EPIC ENCOUNTER (S Salee) revealed no obvious abnormality. IDEALISTIC MOMENT, which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being declared to race again.

 RACE 7:  CLASS 5 - 1600M

FLYING HORSE, a non-acceptor which had suffered upper respiratory tract infection, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

OPPORTUNE TIME, a non-acceptor which had sustained a saddle sore, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

Acting on a report from the Official Starter that TIGER CAPTAIN (H Barnabas) was difficult to proceed to the start and could not be boxed, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of TIGER CAPTAIN at 4.26 pm. TIGER CAPTAIN will be required to pass 1 starting stall test before being declared to race again.

KING OF TOWER (HS Gill) which was fractious and missed the start, will be required to pass 1 starting stall test before being declared to race again.

SUPERNATURAL POWER (M Razali), which stood and lost considerable ground at the start and due to its adverse history, will be required to pass 2 starting stall tests (at weekly intervals) after one-month embargo before being declared to race again.

Post-race veterinary examinations of KING OF TOWER, CHIEF MINISTER (App SU Lim), SPEED ROCKET (HK Cheng) and SUPERNATURAL POWER revealed no obvious abnormality. CHIEF MINISTER, which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being declared to race again.

 RACE 8:  CLASS 4 - 1400M

Q NINE MYSTIC, a non-acceptor which had sustained a bruised near-fore tendon, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

REYSHA, a non-acceptor which had suffered respiratory infection, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

EMPRESS GIOK, a course scratching as it had sustained a bruised right knee, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

Acting on a veterinary report that LIRA (HS Gill) was lame in the near-fore leg, the Stewards ordered its withdrawal at 4.53 pm. LIRA will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being declared to race again.

Approaching the 800m, TROJANE (App AM Aizat) laid in and bumped MOGAN’S PRIDE (App CK Ng) which became unbalanced. GHOST SPEEDY (I Azhar), which was following, had to steady in this incident.

The Veterinary Surgeon reported that ELECTRONIC FORTUNE (App WT Chung) returned, exhibiting signs of respiratory distress and as such, will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being declared to race again.

Post-race veterinary examinations of GHOST SPEEDY, BABY POLO (K Eirwan) and BRASH SON (KY Yap) revealed no obvious abnormality.

When questioned regarding EXCELLENT GOAL’s performance, Jockey J Shankar said that from approximately the 1000m, EXCELLENT GOAL began to display an abnormal action and he felt that the gelding was sore in its near-fore leg and as the race progressed, the worse the gelding’s action became until entering the straight when trailing the field, he decided to ease EXCELLENT GOAL down.

A post-race veterinary examination of EXCELLENT GOAL revealed no obvious abnormality. As Trainer KF Wong was not present, a follow-up veterinary examination of EXCELLENT GOAL, will be carried out at its home base. EXCELLENT GOAL, which was eased down in the straight and failed to finish the race, will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being declared to race again.

The Stewards will be inquiring into an incident at approximately the 150m at a date to be fixed.

 RACE 9:  CLASS 4 - 1400M

SAMURAI PHOENIX, a non-acceptor which had sustained a sore back, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

PINA COLARDA, a non-acceptor which had sustained a bruised near-fore fetlock, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

BUKIT BINTANG, a non-acceptor which had sustained an injury in the near-fore fetlock, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

LONE STAAR, a course scratching as it had sustained stone bruise off-fore, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

WHY LIKE THAT, a course scratching which suffered stromal abscess left eye, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

ZHAN SHEN, which was down 26kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

Near the 300m, LIUZZI (App F Yusoff) steadied when crowded for room between ALIEN (K Eirwan) and RAFFLES PEGASUS (I Azhar).

Post-race veterinary examinations of RAFFLES PEGASUS, LIUZZI, SPEED MAN (J Shankar) and MEGATRON (App SU Lim) revealed no obvious abnormality.

The report dated 3 July 2014 (V14/67) from the Chief Analyst of Veterinary Forensic Laboratory stated that 18 coded urine and 18 sets of coded blood samples from the above-mentioned race meeting were received on 22 June 2014, for analysis under the MRA Rules and Regulations. No prohibited substances were detected.

RACE 1 (R869), SUNDAY, 29 JUNE 2014, SELANGOR TURF CLUB JUNE NOVELTY MEETING 2014

The RM100 fine imposed on Trainer PS Kumaran under MRA Rule 65(5)(c) for failing to produce the declared colours on DESERT SOUL, was rescinded.

RACE 10 (R878), SUNDAY, 29 JUNE 2014, SELANGOR TURF CLUB JUNE NOVELTY MEETING 2014

The Stewards, on 3 July 2014 at the Selangor Turf Club, concluded their revision into the performance of GOLDHILL PRINCESS in the above race, and questioned Jockey J De Souza, the rider of GOLDHILL PRINCESS.

Jockey J De Souza confirmed his instructions were to be handy to midfield which were confirmed by the Stewards from the Trainer’s Instruction Form. He stated that after its last start, GOLDHILL PRINCESS had trialled with blinkers and the filly was racing in blinkers for the first time. He stated that from a wide barrier, the filly began well and as a consequence, he was unable to go forward and was caught wide at the 800m until the 600m when he was able to get a position closer to the rail. He stated that in the straight when being under pressure, GOLDHILL PRINCESS was very disappointing to the finish of the race. The Stewards noted his explanation.

RACE 3 (R871), SUNDAY, 29 JUNE 2014, SELANGOR TURF CLUB JUNE NOVELTY MEETING 2014

The Stewards, on 3 July 2014 at the Selangor Turf Club, concluded their revision into the performance of GOLDHILL WINNER in the above race, and questioned Jockey J De Souza, and Trainer R Lines, the rider and Trainer of GOLDHILL WINNER respectively.

Trainer R Lines confirmed his instructions were to be handy to midfield which were confirmed by the Stewards from the Trainer’s Instruction Form. He stated that as GOLDHILL WINNER has been disappointing at its previous starts, he had instructed Jockey J De Souza to be aggressive with the gelding when leaving the barrier.

Jockey J De Souza stated that he had carried out Trainer R Lines’ instructions and rode GOLDHILL WINNER aggressively in the early stages and as a result, he had led the race and he felt that GOLDHILL WINNER ran a better race today than its previous starts.

Trainer R Lines agreed with the change in GOLDHILL WINNER’s pattern in racing as compared to its previous races, and intended to try to ride the gelding in a similar manner in future.

The Stewards noted their explanations.

RACE 11 (R879), SUNDAY, 29 JUNE 2014, SELANGOR TURF CLUB JUNE NOVELTY MEETING 2014

The Stewards, on 3 July 2014 at the Selangor Turf Club, continued their revision into the performance of CAVORTING in the above race, and evidence was taken from Trainer R Lines, the Trainer of CAVORTING.

Trainer R Lines confirmed his instructions were to be handy to midfield which were confirmed by the Stewards from the Trainer’s Instruction Form and that he had instructed Jockey KY Yap who had replaced Jockey C Goon of these instructions.

Trainer R Lines thought that CAVORTING ran a fair race and that on 2 or 3 occasions in the race, it had laid in resulting in Jockey KY Yap having to steady the gelding. The Stewards adjourned the inquiry for further revision to a date to be fixed.

RACE 6 (R874), SUNDAY, 29 JUNE 2014, SELANGOR TURF CLUB JUNE NOVELTY MEETING 2014

The Stewards, on 3 July 2014 at the Selangor Turf Club, continued their revision into the performance of BA LI BA DANCER in the above race, and adjourned the inquiry for further revision to a date to be fixed in order to question Trainer S Cook and Jockey M Wepner, the trainer and rider of BA LI BA DANCER respectively.

POST-RACE URINE: 29 JUNE 2014
SELANGOR TURF CLUB JUNE MEETING 2014

The report dated 3 July 2014 (V14/69) from the Chief Analyst of Veterinary Forensic Laboratory stated that 35 coded urine and 35 sets of coded blood samples from the above-mentioned race meeting were received on 29 June 2014, for analysis under the MRA Rules and Regulations. No prohibited substances were detected.

ADDENDUM
RACE 3 (R865), 2ND DAY, SATURDAY, 28 JUNE 2014, PERAK TURF CLUB JUNE MEETING 2014

At about the 100m, GEORGIE BOY (App KC Tham) shifted in, taking FLASH GORDON (I Azhar) in and crowding IMPROBABLE (HS Gill), causing that horse to steady. App KC Tham was warned to exercise more care when shifting ground in future.

PERAK TURF CLUB VETERINARY REPORT – 4 JULY 2014

GOOD RECOMMEND (MRA Brand No. A800), which had undergone Conjuctival Graft and Tarrsoraphy, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

REPORT REGARDING AN INCIDENT WHICH TOOK PLACE DURING A ROUTINE STABLE INSPECTION AT TRAINER B NG’S STABLE ON 30 MAY 2014 AT THE PENANG TURF CLUB

Acting on a report from the Stipendiary Steward Devaraj Arujunen regarding an incident which took place during a routine stable inspection at Trainer B Ng’s stable on 30 May 2014, the Stewards today (6 July 2014) concluded an inquiry into the matter at the Penang Turf Club.

After taking evidence from both Trainer B Ng and Stipendiary Steward Devaraj Arujunen, Trainer B Ng was found guilty of a charge under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for misconduct in that he had acted in an unprofessional manner towards Stipendiary Steward Devaraj Arujunen when requested to produce his MRA Trainer’s Pass during a routine Stable Inspection on 30 May 2014 at about 9.50am at his stable in the Penang Turf Club.

When deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into consideration Trainer B Ng’s good record and mitigating factors. Trainer B Ng was fined a sum of RM500 and informed of his right of appeal (12.30pm).
