Second Day,  Sunday,  4 May 2008

 RACE 1:  RESTRICTED MAIDEN - 1200M

DASHING SPIRIT, a course scratching as it was suffering from colic, will be required to undergo a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

EASTERN LUCK, which was up 28kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

Trainer R Rogers was fined RM100 under MRA Rule 65(5)(b) for failing to produce the declared colours for RAPID CRUSHING.

Light rain fell prior to and during the running of this race.

KIM UNCLE which threw its head down on jumping and bucked, dislodged Jockey J Shankar. In view of the gelding’s previous history, KIM UNCLE will be barred from racing for a period of 3 months and thereafter will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet from the starting stall) before being entered to race again.

MIGHTY LEE and YHANA, which both raced poorly, will each be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being entered to race again.

The saddle on RAPID CRUSHING slipped backwards during running.

 RACE 2:  CLASS 5 - 1200M

CASH PARTNERS, which was down 16kgs in body weight, and AL KHOBAR, which was up 22kgs in body weight since their last runs, were checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and were passed fit to start.

The Stewards permitted Jockey H Barnabas to replace Jockey BN Shahrul on SUPERB GENIUS as the latter was certified unwell.

The saddle on SUPERB GENIUS slipped backwards during running.

Jockey R Burnett, the rider of GLORY ROAD, reported that his horse was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of GLORY ROAD revealed no obvious abnormality. The colt was impounded.

A post-race veterinary examination of CASH PARTNERS revealed no obvious abnormality.

At the conclusion of an inquiry today, Jockey R Burnett, the rider of GLORY ROAD, pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 44(10) for failing to ride to the satisfaction of the Stewards. The particulars of the charge were that after being slightly inconvenienced shortly after the start, he made insufficient attempt to position his mount midfield as instructed. When deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into account the facts of this case, Jockey R Burnett’s points of mitigation and his record. Jockey R Burnett was fined the sum of RM5,000 and was advised of his right of appeal (3:15pm).

 RACE 3:  CLASS 5 - 1200M

KAKAYA, which was up 15kgs in body weight, LIM’S WONDER, which was down 17kgs in body weight, and BLUSHING FAME, which was up 19kgs in body weight since their last runs, were checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and were passed fit to start.

The Stewards permitted Jockey M Wepner to replace Jockey BN Shahrul on SUCCESS FOREVER.

Trainer P Roslan was fined RM100 under MRA Rule 65(5)(b) for failing to produce the declared colours for SILENT AGE.

ALISHAN, which was difficult to be boxed and caused some delay, will be required to pass a test (starting stall) before being entered to race again.

Approaching the 200m mark, LIM’S WONDER switched out to obtain a clear run.

DREAM KING laid out in the concluding stages.

KAKAYA raced wide throughout.

Jockey Y Aify, the rider of BLUSHING FAME, reported that his horse was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of BLUSHING FAME revealed no obvious abnormality.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that FOXY LADY returned having cast its off-fore plate.

 RACE 4:  CLASS 5 - 1700M

CLASSIC GOLD, which broke through the barrier, was caught, checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon, passed fit to race and was reboxed.

SPEED WARRIOR was slow into stride.

SPEED WONDERFUL, which was slow to begin, was inconvenienced shortly after the start when tightened on the outside of TINKER BELL which rolled out.

TINKER BELL clipped the heels of TIGER HEART at approximately the 1400m mark.

MAGICAL WAY and PAGANI, which both raced poorly, will each be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being entered to race again.

Jockey M Djulkifli, the rider of TIGER HEART, reported that his horse showed no interest in the race. A post-race veterinary examination of TIGER HEART revealed no obvious abnormality. The gelding was impounded.

A post-race veterinary examination of SPEED WONDERFUL revealed no obvious abnormality. The mare, which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being entered to race again. SPEED WONDERFUL was impounded.

When questioned regarding the apparent improved performance of BALUNA PARK, Trainer KH Ng stated that he was unable to offer any explanation other than that it was having its first start today with blinkers which may have accounted for the improvement. His explanation was noted and his attention was drawn to the rules regarding “in-and-out running”.

 RACE 5:  CLASS 4 - 1700M

WONDERFUL TYCOON was slow into stride.

DYNASTY VADER raced keen and was difficult to settle in the back straight.

Jockey I Azhar, the rider of KING’S STRIKE, reported that his horse was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of KING’S STRIKE revealed no obvious abnormality.

 RACE 6:  CLASS 4 - 1200M

AIR COMMANDER, which was up 17kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

The Stewards permitted Jockey N Azman to replace Jockey R Burnett on MIGHTY MIDGET as the latter was stood down by the Club Medical Officer.

ASIA STAR was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon just prior to the start and was passed fit to race.

GLORY KINGDOM jumped awkwardly and was slow to begin.

SPEED LOONG over-raced in the back straight.

At about the 1000m, SPARKLING RAINBOW rolled out, carrying ASIA STAR outwards onto MIGHTY MIDGET which in turn rolled out, resulting in AIR COMMANDER having to steady off the heels of SPEED LOONG. In this incident, DRAGON OF JERAM was also inconvenienced.

At about the 800m, EASTERN STAR and LAW AND ORDER became cramped and had to steady off the heels of ASIA STAR which shifted in. App J Low, the rider of ASIA STAR, was shown the film of the incident and warned to exercise more care when shifting ground in future.

HAYA DEWA and BOLEH BOLEH, which both raced poorly, will each be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being entered to race again.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that AIR COMMANDER bled and will be barred from racing for a period of three months under MRA Rule 92(3)(a)&(b).

 RACE 7:  CLASS 4 - 1200M

The Stewards permitted App Lou Ho to replace App Alex Lee on PEAK OF LIFE as the latter was certified unwell.

Acting on veterinary advice that GLOBAL NOMAD was lame near-fore, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of the gelding at 4:29pm. GLOBAL NOMAD will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being entered to race again.

COLOUR YOUR HOME was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon just prior to the start and was passed fit to race.

ACE ESMERALDA, which could not be boxed, was withdrawn by order of the Stewards at 5:10pm. The gelding will be required to pass 2 tests (2 starting stalls at weekly intervals) before being entered to race again.

JERAM DELIGHT was slow into stride.

BENS BUSINESS, COLOUR YOUR HOME and DASANCHEZ were crowded at the start as a result of ROULETTE PLAYER jumping awkwardly outwards and HATTRICK jumping awkwardly inwards.

The saddle on JERAM DELIGHT slipped backwards during running.

HATTRICK, which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being entered to race again.

Jockey S Salee, the rider of COLOUR YOUR HOME, reported that his horse was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of COLOUR YOUR HOME revealed that it was lame near-fore and as such will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being entered to race again.

 RACE 8:  DA MA CAI STAKES,  CLASS 4 - 1200M

PANDAI-PANDAI, which was down 19kgs in body weight, MAGICAL IDOL, which was down 16kgs in body weight, MELANG ANGEL, which was down 19kgs in body weight and SUPERB STAR, which was down 15kgs in body weight since their last runs, were checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and were passed fit to start.

The Stewards ordered the withdrawal of SPEED HAPPY at 5pm as the gelding was 44kgs up in body weight. Trainer MC Lam was advised to monitor the gelding’s body weight prior to declaring it to race again.

SELAMAT DATANG reared on jumping and was slow into stride.

SUPERB STAR was obliged to race wide on the bend.

At about the 500m mark, DIPANG RANGER ran up to, clipped the heels of KING CZAR and stumbled, unbalancing its rider.

The saddle on JUN HUO slipped backwards during running. Jockey I Saifudin, the rider of JUN HUO, reported that his horse was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of JUN HUO revealed no obvious abnormality.

A post-race veterinary examination of KING CZAR revealed no obvious abnormality. The gelding, which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being entered to race again.

At the conclusion of an inquiry today, Jockey MW Teh, the rider of MELANG ANGEL, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(c) in that whilst riding MELANG ANGEL in this race, he shifted in shortly after the start, resulting in MAGICAL IDOL and KING CZAR becoming cramped and having to check. Jockey MW Teh was suspended from riding in races for a period of four race days with effect from 5 May 2008 and to expire on 17 May 2008, both days inclusive. He was advised of his right of appeal (5:55pm).
