APRIL (SELANGOR GOLD CUP) MEETING
Fourth Day,  Sunday,  27 April 2008

 RACE 1:  CLASS 5 - 1400M

STOP LISTENING, which was up 15kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

As Jockey A Kumarentheran had sustained an injury to his leg in Race 6 yesterday, the Stewards permitted Jockey M Zaidi to replace the former on HIGH FIVE.

WAVE RUNNER showed no early pace despite being urged.

Approaching the 200m mark, FORCE MAJEURE, which had commenced to give ground, had to steady when BORN FREE rolled outwards and KEEP RISING rolled inwards.

App F Tan, the rider of BORN FREE, and App J Low, the rider of KEEP RISING, were shown the video of the incident and were warned to exercise more care when shifting ground in future.

WAVE RUNNER hung out badly in the straight. A subsequent veterinary examination on WAVE RUNNER revealed no apparent abnormality.

WING AURA was held up for a run between the 300m mark to the 200m.

Jockey E Legrix, the rider of STOP LISTENING, and Jockey M Zaidi, the rider of HIGH FIVE reported that the geldings were not striding out respectively. A subsequent veterinary examination on STOP LISTENING and HIGH FIVE revealed no apparent abnormalities.

A post-race veterinary examination of FORCE MAJEURE revealed that the gelding was lame off-fore and as such will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being entered to race again.

 RACE 2:  RESTRICTED MAIDEN - 1200M

BLESSWITHLUCK, a course scratching as it was lame near-fore, will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being entered to race again.

The saddle on BRILLIANT TYCOON was readjusted behind the barriers.

BRILLIANT TYCOON jumped awkwardly outwards carrying SINAR SURIA outwards resulting in IT’S POWERFUL becoming crowded and having to steady. MAKEMYDAY, which was following, also had to steady.

Approaching the 800m mark, DASHING SPIRIT had to steady when racing tight on the inside of WIN IN which was carried in by CRAYHEYZI which ducked inwards abruptly.

IT’S POWERFUL was obliged to race wide on the turn.

Shortly after straightening BRILLIANT TYCOON steadied off the heels of CRAYHEYZI.

DASHING SPIRIT hung out in the concluding stages.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that SINAR SURIA returned having cast its near-hind plate and BRILLIANT TYCOON returned with a cut to its near-fore.

IT’S POWERFUL, which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being entered to race again.

 RACE 3:  CLASS 3 - 1400M

LIGHT EASY, a course scratching as it was exhibiting signs of respiratory distress, will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being entered to race again.

The Stewards permitted Jockeys M Zaidi and V Sivan to replace Jockeys WK Yan and TM Wan on SUMMER RED and ROCKET GENERAL respectively as they were certified unwell.

The saddle and tongue-tie on SEA DIAMOND were readjusted behind the barriers.

ROYAL PRIDE was slow into stride.

BUSINESS KING, which was hanging in in the back-straight, shifted in at about the 1200m mark resulting in ROYAL PRIDE becoming cramped and having to be steadied. App J Chuah, the rider of BUSINESS KING, was shown the video of the incident and warned to make a greater attempt to keep his mount straight in future.

PORT THE SYSTEM had a tendency to lay out in the concluding stages and JERAM shifted out from the whip in the straight.

Trainer BT Lim was questioned with regards to the improved performance of KIKO CLASSIC today. Trainer BT Lim was unable to offer any explanation other than he felt that the 1400m is more suited for this horse. His attention was brought to the rules of “in-and-out running”.

A post-race veterinary examination on ROYAL PRIDE revealed no apparent abnormality.

 RACE 4:  BAROBYN RACING ALL GREYS STAKES, OPEN - 1400M

The Stewards permitted Jockey V Sivan to replace Jockey J Shankar on SHOW OFF and Jockey M Wepner to replace Jockey TM Wan on THE SWORDSMAN as they were certified unwell.

PINCAY and LEADING LEAGUE, which were up 18kgs and 24kgs respectively in body weight since their last runs, were checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and were passed fit to start.

The saddle on LEADING LEAGUE was readjusted behind the barriers.

The tongue-tie on LEADING REQUEST was re-fitted behind the barriers.

LEADING REQUEST, which was laying out into the home-straight, steadied off the heels of PINCAY.

At about 150m mark, THE SWORDSMAN was crowded for some distance as a result of NORTHERN EXPRESS which was laying in and INSTANT RESULT which rolled outwards slightly. App M Yusri, the rider of NORTHERN EXPRESS, was shown the video of the incident and warned to make a greater attempt to keep his mount straight in future.

FANTASTIC FORTUNE, which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being entered to race again.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that LEADING LEAGUE bled and will be barred from racing for a period of three months under MRA Rule 92(3)(a)&(b).

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that THE SWORDSMAN returned with a cut to its left-fore.

App LL Tai, the rider of DASHING HERO, reported that the gelding was making respiratory noises. A post-race veterinary examination on DASHING HERO revealed no apparent abnormality.

A post-race veterinary examination of PINCAY revealed that the gelding returned exhibiting signs of respiratory distress and as such will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being entered to race again.

A post-race veterinary examination of IRON EYES CODY revealed that the gelding returned exhibiting signs of heat stress and as such will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being entered to race again.

At the conclusion of an inquiry today, App M Yusri the rider of NORTHERN EXPRESS, in the presence of his Master, Trainer Wong Kong Fait, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(c) in that at approximately the 900m mark, he allowed his mount to shift out when insufficiently clear of PINCAY causing that horse to check and clip the heels of NORTHERN EXPRESS.

App M Yusri was suspended from riding in races for a period of three race days with effect from Monday, 28 April 2008 and to expire on 4 May 2008 both days inclusive. He was advised of his right of appeal (3:55pm).

 RACE 5:  CLASS 5, PREMIER - 1400M

Emergency acceptor CONAMOR’E was withdrawn due to a capacity field.

The saddle on CLARKE QUAY was readjusted behind the barriers.

FLASHMAN jumped awkwardly outwards.

JOKER DEWAN, which was pulling hard in the early stages, was obliged to race wide on the turn.

CLARKE QUAY hung out throughout.

Jockeys M Djulkifli and O Chavez, the riders of GOLD LION and LEAD TO GLORY reported that their horses showed no interest in the race. A subsequent veterinary examination on GOLD LION and LEAD TO GLORY revealed no apparent abnormalities.

A post-race veterinary examination on CLARKE QUAY revealed no apparent abnormality.

GOLD LION and CLARKE QUAY, which raced poorly, will each be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being entered to race again.

 RACE 6:  DATO RONALD KHOO TENG SWEE MEMORIAL TROPHY
                 CLASSES 1 & 2 - 1400M

SUPERB GENERAL was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon behind the barriers and passed fit to race.

LIGHT OF JOY threw its head up on jumping.

 RACE 7:  SELANGOR GOLD CUP - 1600M

The start of the race was re-scheduled to start at 5:00pm.

IT’S ALL MONEY was slow into stride.

TRIPLE HAPPY, which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being entered to race again.

Post-race veterinary examinations on GOLDEN ACE and NEW KUALA DIPANG revealed no apparent abnormalities.

A post-race veterinary examination of SHANGHAI STAR revealed that it was lame near-fore and as such will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being entered to race again.

At the conclusion of an inquiry today, Jockey Kelvin Oh, the rider of FREE SPIRIT, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(c) in that at about the 400m mark he shifted his mount out when not sufficiently clear of ISHBILIYA causing that horse to check. Jockey Kelvin Oh was suspended from riding in races for a period of five race days with effect from Monday, 28 April 2008 and to expire on 10 May 2008, both days inclusive. He was advised of his right of appeal (5:20pm).

 RACE 8:  CLASS 2 - 1400M

MAHAKAYA, a course scratching as it was exhibiting signs of respiratory distress, will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being entered to race again.

The Stewards permitted Jockey A Cavallo to replace Jockey A Kumarentheran on STRONGER.

The start of the race was re-scheduled to start at 5:40pm.

CONBIENCE was slow into stride.

 RACE 9:  CLASS 5 - 2000M

WOODY, a course scratching as it was lame both fore, will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being entered to race again.

The Stewards permitted jockey L Sofhan to replace Jockey S John on CONDESIR’E as the latter was certified unwell.

Shortly after the start, LAKE OF FIRE rolled in abruptly and made contact with BIG STEEL.

Passing the 600m mark, INNER SANCTUM became cramped and had to check when racing on the inside of BIG STEEL. An inquiry will be held into this incident at a date to be fixed.

At approximately the 500m mark, CIZEN TYCOON rolled inwards making contact with LAKE OF FIRE.

A post race veterinary examination on SEE ME revealed no apparent abnormality. SEE ME was impounded.

 GENERAL

RACE 6, 3RD DAY, SATURDAY, 26 APRIL 2008 - CURRENT MEETING

Jockey A Fiezan was questioned with regards to his failure to arrive on course to fulfill his riding engagements in Race 6 on 26 April 2008. Jockey A Fiezan explained to the Board that he got stuck in a traffic jam on the way from the airport. His explanation was noted.
