APRIL (SELANGOR GOLD CUP) MEETING
Third Day,  Saturday,  26 April 2008

 RACE 1:  RESTRICTED MAIDEN - 1200M

CENTURY AGAINST, which was kicked on the way to the barrier, was withdrawn by order of the Stewards at 1:42pm. CENTURY AGAINST will be required to pass a test (vet exam) before being declared to race again.

GOOD GIRLFRIEND, which over raced in the early stages, compounded in the straight. Jockey I Azhar, the rider of GOOD GIRLFRIEND, reported that the gelding was not striding out. A subsequent veterinary examination on GOOD GIRLFRIEND revealed the horse returned lame both fore. GOOD GIRLFRIEND, which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being entered to race again.

 RACE 2:  CLASS 5 - 1400M

PAK SING TAN was withdrawn by order of the Steward at 2:11pm acting on veterinary advice that it was lame near-fore. PAK SING TAN will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being entered to race again.

ROYAL GAMBADE jumped awkwardly outwards inconveniencing WINNING ACE.

Passing the 300m mark, CHERRY BLOSSOM switched out for a clear run and was held up momentarily at the 800m mark and thereafter had to switch in for a run.

At the conclusion of an inquiry today, 26 April 2008, Jockey M Huzairi, the rider of WINNING ACE, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(c) in that passing the 200m mark he allowed his mount to shift in when not sufficiently clear of ROYAL GAMBADE causing that horse to be checked. Jockey M Huzairi was suspended from riding in races for a period of four race days with effect from Sunday, 27 April 2008 and to expire on 4 May 2008, both days inclusive. He was advised of his
right of appeal (2:30pm).

 RACE 3:  CLASS 5 - 1400M

CORDERO, which was down 18kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

SUMKISEKI was withdrawn by order of the Stewards at 2:15pm as the horse was 44kg up in weight. Trainer P Pereira was advised to monitor the horse’s body weight prior to entering it to race again.

HURRICANE SILENCE was withdrawn by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice at 2:47pm when it was found to be lame off-fore. HURRICANE SILENCE will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being entered to race again.

CORDERO was slow to begin.

Approaching the turn at the 800m mark, JOKER REIGN became cramped and had to steady as a result of GEEWIN (App S Sandana) which rolled inwards. App S Sandana was shown the video of this incident and warned to exercise more care when shifting ground in future.

JOKER REIGN was obliged to race wide on the bend.

CHIEF OF HONOUR hung out in the straight.

HULK GENERAL had a tendency to lay out in the straight.

Trainer John McGillivray was questioned with regards to the improved performance of WINNING ELEVEN. Trainer McGillivray explained that he was unable to offer any explanation other than the horse was having its third start for him today and its previous three wins were all in Selangor, indicating that this horse was better suited to this track. His explanation was noted.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that JOKER REIGN bled and will be barred from racing for a period of three months under MRA Rule 92(30(a)&(b).

 RACE 4:  CLASS 5 - 1400M

Emergency acceptor KIKO’S ZEST was withdrawn due to a capacity field.

The Stewards permitted I Azhar to replace jockey J Shankar on CHEVAL DAUM as the latter was certified unwell.

LION CITY GLORY, which was up 16kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

QUEENARDO was checked by the Veterinary Surgeon behind the barriers and passed fit to race.

At approximately the 350m mark, FLIP MASTER switched out in order to obtain a clear run.

PROUD MARY had a tendency to lay out at the top of the straight.

HERO VIN, which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being entered to race again.

Jockey YF Leong, the rider of INDIAN CHAMP, reported that the gelding was not striding out. A subsequent veterinary examination on INDIAN CHAMP revealed no apparent abnormality.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that ROCCO SPEED returned having cast its near-hind plate.

 RACE 5:  CLASS 5 - 1400M

LIM’S SERIES, a course scratching as it was exhibiting signs of respiratory distress, will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being entered to race again.

The Stewards permitted Jockey E Aslam to replace jockey J Shankar on UNIVERSAL ASSET.

SUCCESS LEGEND jumped awkwardly outwards and was slow to begin.

Passing the 1000m mark, CONOSUR ducked inwards in an attempt to take the near bend and had to steady off the heels of CALDECOTT VISION.

SUCCESS LEGEND was obliged to race wide on me turn.

CALDECOTT VISION, which had a tendency to lay out in the straight, carried UNIVERSE STAR outwards.

SOVEREIGN EXPRESS finished the race wide.

Subsequent to the race, Jockey V Sivan, the rider of RHYTHM EXPRESS, reported that his horse was not striding out. A post-race veterinary examination of RHYTHM EXPRESS revealed that the gelding returned lame off-fore. RHYTHM EXPRESS, which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being entered to race again.

SUCCESS LEGEND, which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being entered to race again.

A post-race veterinary examination of SOVEREIGN EXPRESS revealed that the gelding returned lame off-fore and as such will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being entered to race again.

 RACE 6:  CLASS 3 - 1400M

The Stewards permitted Jockey M Wepner to replace Jockey A Fiezan on PANDORA as the latter did not arrive on course. The matter will be investigated into.

MIGHTY TRIPLE ACE, which cast its off-fore plate was re-shod and passed fit to start.

LIGHT OF LIBERTY, which reared in the barrier, injured Jockey A Kumarentheran's leg. As a result, Jockey A Kumarentheran was unable to ride to his instructions and to ride his mount out fully to the finish.

GENEROUS GIFT jumped awkwardly inwards resulting in REAL WARRIOR and JERAM NEW SPECIAL becoming cramped and having to steady.

Approaching the 1000m mark, JERAM ATTACK was tightened as a result of CIZEN ISTANA (App S Sandana) drifting inwards. App S Sandana was shown the video of this incident and warned to exercise more care. He was further warned that this was the second time that he had been spoken to in this regard today and advised that if he continues to ride like this a charge may be laid against him.

Passing the 1000m mark, JERAM ATTACK jumped a shadow and became unbalanced.

At about the 400m mark, BIG BEAU had to be switched out over the heels of LIGHT OF LIBERTY which was giving ground.

GENEROUS GIFT shifted in away from the whip and had to be straightened in the straight.

Jockey TM Wan, the rider of RENO, reported that the gelding was making respiratory noises. A post-race veterinary examination of RENO revealed no apparent abnormality.

A veterinary examination on LIGHT OF LIBERTY revealed no apparent abnormality. LIGHT OF LIBERTY, which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being entered to race again.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that JERAM ATTACK returned having cast its near-hind plate.

 RACE 7:  DA MA CAI STAKES,  CLASSES 2 & 3 - 1800M

PENANG BEAUTY had a tendency to hang out entering the home-straight and thereafter had a tendency to lay in.

HUYPIRCART hang cut in the straight.

A post-race veterinary examination of YIPPEE BLUE DILL revealed no apparent abnormality.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that GOLD ARROW returned having cast its near-fore plate.

 RACE 8:  CLASS 5 - 2000M

The Stewards permitted Jockey D Chong to replace WK Yan on PAGANI as the latter was certified unwell.

MACA, which was restless in the barrier, jumped awkwardly and was considerably slow to begin, will be required to pass a test (starting stall) before being entered to race again.

DIN KIM MA and ALL ALONE raced keen and was difficult to settle in the back straight.

At about the 400m mark, ALL ALONE, which was laying out, had to steady off the heels of GLOBALLY FAMOUS which was laying in. GLOBALLY FAMOUS continued to lay in for the remaining of the race.

CONFETTI was obliged to race wide on the bend and finished the race wide.

The saddle on RAWHIDE slipped during the running.

CONFETTI, which was reported by the Veterinary Surgeon to be broken-winded, will be barred from racing until such time it undergoes corrective surgery and thereafter pass a test (1000m/vet) before being entered to race again.

At the conclusion of an inquiry today, 26 April 2008, App S Sandana, the rider of TINKER BELL, in the presence of his acting master, Trainer R Lines, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(c) in that at about the 800m mark, he allowed his mount to shift in when he was insufficiently clear, causing varying degrees of interference to ALL ALONE and RAWHIDE. App S Sandana was suspended from riding in races for a period of four race days with effect from Sunday, 27 April 2008 and to expire on 4 May 2008, both days inclusive. He was advised of his right of appeal (6:25pm).

 GENERAL

During a Bleeder's Test at the Selangor Turf Club on the 22 April 2008, BETTER MAN (H890) bled and as such will be barred from racing for a period of six months under MRA Rule 92(5)(a)&(b).

RACE 6 (R459), 2ND DAY, SUNDAY, 20 APRIL 2008
- CURRENT MEETING


The Stewards concluded their investigation into Jockey M Djulkifli's failure to arrive on course to fulfill his riding engagements on the above-mentioned date. The Stewards took no further action as Jockey M Djulkifli had tendered his medical certificate.

POST-RACE URINE:  19 - 20 APRIL 2008
SELANGOR TURF CLUB SELANGOR GOLD CUP MEETING 2008


The report dated 24 April 2008 (V08/26) from the Chief Analyst of Veterinary Forensic Laboratory stated that 52 coded urine and 54 sets of coded blood samples from the above-mentioned race meeting were received on 21 April 2008, for analysis under the MRA Rules and Regulations. No prohibited substances were detected.

The report dated 24 April 2008 (V08/27) from the Chief Analyst of Veterinary Forensic Laboratory stated that 8 coded urine samples from the above-mentioned race meeting were received on 21 April 2008, for analysis under the MRA Rules and Regulations. No prohibited substances were detected.

POST-RACE URINE:  12 -13 APRIL 2008
PERAK TURF CLUB APRIL DERBY MEETING 2008


A report dated 24 April 2008 (V08/24.1) from the Chief Analyst of Veterinary Forensic Laboratory stated that 61 coded urine and 61 sets of coded blood samples from the above-mentioned race meeting were received on 14 April 2008, for analysis under the MRA Rules of Regulations. No prohibited substances were detected except for sample coded “01770” which revealed the presence of “Phenylbutazone and Oxyphenylbutazone”. After decoding the sample number, it was established that this sample was reported to have been taken from the horse BIG TURNOUT, which raced in Race 6, 3rd Day, Saturday, 12 April 2008, PRTC April Derby Meeting 2008.

On 25 April 2008, Trainer KP Hoy was advised of the contents of this report and his attention was drawn to MRA Rule 134(11) which prohibits this horse from racing until it is cleared by the Stewards, and MRA Rule 137(1) and MRA Regulation 46.2.3 relating to the referee sample. An inquiry will be held on a date to be fixed.

PERAK TURF CLUB APRIL DERBY MEETING 2008


The report dated 24 April 2008 (V08/25.1) from the Chief Analyst of Veterinary Forensic Laboratory stated that 4 coded urine samples from the above-mentioned race meeting were received on 14 April 2008, for analysis under the MRA Rules and Regulations. No prohibited substances were detected.

REPORT OF ANALYSIS FOR SYCE URINE

A report dated 17 April (V08/01) from the Chief Analyst of Veterinary Forensic Laboratory stated that 2 coded samples sent by the Selangor Turf Club Security Department, received on 10 April 2008, for analysis under the MRA Rules of Regulations were received. No prohibited substances were detected except for sample coded “J-0767” which revealed the presence of “Cannabis”. After decoding the sample number, it was established that this sample was reported to have been taken from MRA Licence holder (Syce) Muashashah bin Ishak (MRA Pass No. S.927). An inquiry will be opened at a date to be fixed.
