APRIL (SELANGOR GOLD CUP) MEETING
Second Day,  Sunday,  20 April 2008

 RACE 1:  RESTRICTED MAIDEN - 1100M

Trainer BT Lim was fined RM100 under MRA Rule 65(5)(b) for failing to produce the declared colours for I’MBLESS.

WAI KOR jumped awkwardly outwards inconveniencing I’MBLESS.

Approaching the 800m mark, ULTIMATE DECIDER had to steady when DENDROBIUM (I Azhar) rolled inwards. Jockey I Azhar was shown the video of the incident and was warned to exercise more care when shifting ground in future.

A veterinary examination on ITALKRANE revealed no apparent abnormality and was impounded.

App I Fadzlei, who rode his 10th winner on WAI KOR in this race, and would now only be entitled to claim 3kgs allowance as from Tuesday, 22 April 2008 under MRA Rule 44(9).

 RACE 2:  CLASS 4 - 1200M

ROYAL GALLOPER jumped awkwardly outwards making contact with FEARLESS LEADER.

STRIKE OIL jumped awkwardly outwards making contact with the hind quarters of FIRE AND DESIRE.

Approaching the 300m mark, ROYAL GALLOPER was held up momentarily behind INSPIRATION and BABY SO CUTE.

SUNSHINE BEAUTY had a tendency to lay in under pressure in the straight.

Jockey H Samsir, the rider of JOKER SWORD reported that the gelding was not striding out. A subsequent veterinary examination on JOKER SWORD revealed no apparent abnormality. Jockey Samsir appeared before the Board and was warned to give accurate race reports to the Stewards, failing to do so might lead to action being taken against him.

Jockey H Barnabas reported that STRIKE OIL was making respiratory noises in the race. A subsequent veterinary examination on STRIKE OIL revealed no apparent abnormality.

A veterinary examination on MIGHTY MIDGET revealed no apparent abnormality and was impounded.

 RACE 3:  CLASSES 1 & 2 - 1200M

MAHAKAYA, which was up 15kgs in body weight, and JERAM NEW VICTORY, which was up 35kgs in body weight since their last run, were checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

FLAME CAT jumped awkwardly.

THUNDERSHOCK was slow into stride.

 RACE 4:  MAIDEN - 1400M

SAN ANTONIO, which was down 19kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

Acting on veterinary advice, FASHIONABLY LATE was withdrawn by order of the Stewards at 3:09pm when it was kicked behind the barrier. A subsequent veterinary examination on FASHIONABLY LATE revealed that the gelding was lame off-hind. FASHIONABLY LATE will be required to pass a test (vet exam) before being declared to race again.

SAN ANTONIO was slow to begin.

Passing the 1000m mark, KIKO’S JOURNEY (MW Teh) rolled inwards slightly. At the same time, AUSPICIOUS SIGN (App J Chuah) rolled outwards slightly carrying CONAMOR'E outwards resulting in BEAUTY SPOT clipping the heels of KIKO’S JOURNEY. Jockey MW Teh and App J Chuah were shown the video of this incident and warned to exercise more care in future.

CONAMOR’E hung in in the straight.

RANTAWAN, which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being entered to race again.

Jockey S Sani reported that BEAUTY SPOT reported that the gelding was not striding out. A subsequent veterinary examination on BEAUTY SPOT revealed no apparent abnormality.

A veterinary examination on DE GRAND RAJULA revealed no apparent abnormality and the mare was impounded. DE GRAND RAJULA, which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being catered to race again.

Jockey Y Aify signed an Admission of Guilt form and was fined RM1,000 under MRA Rule 44(6) in that he failed to ride RANTAWAN out to the end of the race to the satisfaction of the Stewards.

 RACE 5:  DA MA CAI STAKES,  CLASS 4 - 1600M

DASHING WONDER jumped awkwardly outwards and GENESIS jumped awkwardly inwards carrying SPEEDY TIGER inwards resulting in KING GREG and CUTTING EDGE becoming cramped and having to steady.

LAPIDADO was slow into stride.

DASHING WONDER, which was over racing in the back straight, struck the inside running rails at approximately the 1400m mark.

Jockey V Sivan, the rider of RIVER FUJI, reported that the gelding was not striding out. A post-race veterinary examination of RIVER FUJI revealed that it was lame off-fore and as such will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being entered to race again.

Jockey TM Wan, the rider of CUTTING EDGE, reported that the gelding was not striding out. A subsequent veterinary examination on CUTTING EDGE revealed no apparent abnormalities.

VODKA N ICE and SPEEDY TIGER, which raced poorly, will each be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being entered to race again.

A veterinary examination on KING GREG revealed no apparent abnormality.

At the conclusion of an inquiry today, 20 April 2008, Jockey N Azman, the rider of SUNSHINE ORANGE, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(c) in that he shifted in at approximately the 1000m mark carrying RIVER FUJI in onto SPEEDY TIGER, resulting in DASHING WONDER becoming cramped and having to be checked.

Jockey N Azman was suspended from riding in races for a period of four race days with effect from Monday, 21 April 2008 and to expire on 2 May 2008, both days inclusive. He was advised of his right of appeal (4:30pm).

 RACE 6:  CLASS 3 - 1200M

Emergency acceptor JERAM ATTACK was withdrawn due to a capacity field.

The Stewards granted permission for Jockey H Barnabas to replace Jockey M Djulkifli as the rider of LIGHT EASY when the latter did not arrive on course. This matter will be investigated into.

COURAGEOUS GENERAL was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

IRON EYES CODY struck the starting gates on jumping injuring App C Goon’s right hand.

DASHING HERO jumped awkwardly inwards inconveniencing SUMMER RED and LIGHT EASY.

Approaching the 800m mark, JERAM JAMES had to be steadied when racing tight between RISING WONDER and RENO.

At approximately the 300m mark, LONG SOCKS shifted out to obtain a run.

LIGHT EASY entered the home straight wide.

The saddles on RENO and LIGHT EASY slipped back during the running.

App C Goon, the rider of IRON EYES CODY, reported that the gelding was not striding out. The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that IRON EYES CODY returned having cast its near-fore plate and a cut to its near-hind.

Jockey D Chong, the rider of EASTERN PALACE, dropped his whip at 150m mark. He signed an Admission of Guilt form and was fined RM1,000 under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for negligence.

 RACE 7:  DATO LEE KOK CHEE MEMORIAL TROPHY
                 CLASSES 1 & 2 - 1600M

EMBASSY SUITES was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

Approaching the 1100m mark, CYRIL steadied and threw its head up. Jockey D Chong was questioned with regards to this incident and was unable to give any satisfactory reason. He was warned to ride all his mounts out in such a manner so as to leave no room for query. He was further advised not to accept the ride on CYRIL again without obtaining prior permission from the Stewards.

Jockey O CHAVEZ reported that EMBASSY SUITES was not striding out. A subsequent veterinary examination on EMBASSY SUITES revealed no apparent abnormality.

 RACE 8:  CLASSES 1 & 2 - 1200M

JUG FULL, a course scratching as it was exhibiting signs of respiratory distress, will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being entered to race again.

SMART LION, which could not be ridden and had to be lead to the start, will be required to pass a starting stall test (to be ridden unaided to the start) before being entered to race again.

At approximately the 150m mark, SMART LION became cramped and had to check when SHANTOU MAYOR (App HS Gill) rolled outwards slightly and at the sane time SUPERB GENERAL (V Sivan) rolled inwards away from LIM'S QUARTZ (App J Chuah). Jockey V Sivan, App J Chuah and App HS Gill were shown the video of this incident and warned to exercise more care.

The saddle on ANGKHASA slipped back during the running.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that SUPERB GENERAL returned having cast both its hind plates.

A post-race veterinary examination of ANGKHASA revealed that the gelding returned lame off-fore and as such will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being entered to race again.

Heavy rain fell after the running of Race 8.

 RACE 9:  CLASS 4 - 1200M

The Racing Stewards of the Selangor Turf Club decided to decided to abandon Race 9 due to adverse weather conditions.

 GENERAL

Trainer F Nathan was found guilty under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for negligence as read with MRA Rule 39(l)(e) in that he failed to ensure that Senior Track Rider, Yap Kin Yin was in possession of a valid MRA pass between 1 January 2008 and 27 March 2008 and in fact allowed him to do trackwork during that period. He was fined a sum of RM2,000 and was informed of his right of appeal (12:55pm).

Trainer F Nathan was also warned to ensure that his syce Balan a/l Kanapathy is properly licensed and to seek clarification from the Stewards with regards to the status of any applications for any promotion of his employees in future.
