 RACE 1:  MARA OPEN HANDICAP, DIV 1 - 1200M

Amateur Trainer KH Foo was fined RM100 under MRA Rule 65(5)(b) for failing to produce the declared colours for HEALTH N WEALTH.

HEALTH N WEALTH, which was up 20kgs in body weight, and NEW YORK PROFESSOR, which was down 17kgs in body weight since their last runs, were checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and were passed fit to start.

At the conclusion of an inquiry today, Amateur Rider CH Han, the rider of NEW YORK PROFESSOR, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(c) in that whilst riding NEW YORK PROFESSOR in this race, he shifted in abruptly shortly after the start resulting in DMAESTRO being carried inwards onto RUN FOR ROSES resulting in that horse becoming cramped and having to check at approximately the 1100m mark. Amateur Rider CH Han was suspended from riding in races for a period of two amateur race days with effect from 21 March 2008 and to expire on 1 September 2008, both days inclusive. He was advised of his right of appeal (1:50pm).

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that DMAESTRO returned cut into near-hind and having cast its near-hind plate. The gelding will be required to undergo a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

 RACE 2:  CLASS 5, DIV 3 (HOME BASED) - 1200M

CHEVAL DAUM, a course scratching as it was lame near-fore fetlock, will be required to pass a test (1000M/vet) before being entered to race again.

HUO BAO, which was up 16kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

App S Thai Yang, the rider of HUO BAO, was fined RM500 for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for accepting a ride on HUO BAO in this race when he was unable to make the carded weight.

The saddle on HE’S A CHARMER was readjusted just prior to the start.

FLIP MASTER was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon just prior to the start and was passed fit to race.

GLOBALLY FAMOUS was slow into stride. App I Fadzlei, the rider GLOBALLY FAMOUS, appeared before the Board and was shown the film of the start. He was warned that in future, he would be expected to ensure that he gives his mount sufficient rein on jumping, failing which a charge may be laid against him.

JOKER ACE entered the home straight wide and had a tendency to lay in down the straight.

A post-race veterinary examination of FLIP MASTER revealed no obvious abnormality. The gelding was impounded.

Jockey M Suhaimi, the rider of JOKER ACE, appeared before the board and was questioned with regards to his ride in the straight, in particular with his vigour. He explained that he felt he was unable to use his whip as the horse had a tendency to lay in. The Stewards were not entirely satisfied with his explanation and he was warned that in future, he would be expected to ride all his mounts in such a manner so as to leave no room for query.

 RACE 3:  CLASS 5, DIV 2 (H0ME BASED) - 1200M

GOLD FIELD, a course scratching as it was sore both fore knees, will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being entered to race again.

KUALA DIPANG GOLD, which was down 20kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

KUALA DIPANG GOLD was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon just prior to the start and was passed fit to race.

GEEWIN hung out in the straight.

RAWHIDE and KUALA DIPANG GOLD came together at approximately the 350m mark.

FUTURE PRINCESS hung in in the later stages.

Jockey M Huzairi, the rider of FUTURE PRINCESS, was shown the film of his ride in the concluding stages and he was warned that in future, he would expected to ride all his horses with more vigour, failing which action may be taken against him.

When questioned regarding the apparent improved performance of RED DOT, Trainer P Pereira stated that in his opinion, this was a relatively weak field as it was a home-based race. This, in his opinion, had accounted for the improvement. His explanation was noted.

At the conclusion of an inquiry today, App M Zairi, the rider of SHE’S MY MAGIC, in the presence of his Master, Trainer R Lines, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(c) in that whilst riding SHE’S MY MAGIC in this race, he shifted in approaching the 800m mark, carrying RAWHIDE inwards resulting in SECRET ATTIRE becoming cramped and having to check. App Zairi was suspended from riding in races for a period of three race days with effect from 24 March 2008 and to expire on 29 March 2008, both days inclusive. He was advised of his right of appeal (3:20pm).

 RACE 4:  CLASS 4, DIV 3 (HOME BASED) - 1200M

JOKER TARGET, a course scratching as it was sore both fore tendons, will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being entered to race again.

DEARLY PRECIOUS, which was up 18kgs in body weight, and DUCHESS OF LIGHT, which was up 15kgs in body weight since their last runs, were checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and were passed fit to start.

Acting on veterinary advice that WHY WHY WEST had sustained a cut into near-hind tendon, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of the mare at 3:02pm. The mare will be required to undergo a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

FIRE AND DESIRE was bumped shortly after the start on two occasions by ULTIMATE DECIDER which jumped awkwardly outwards.

ULTIMATE DECIDER shifted out from the whip in the straight.

Jockey H Samsir, the rider of BRILLIANT LEGEND, got his whip entangled in the rein in the later stages.

The state of track was upgraded to “Good” after the running of this race.

App M Zairi, the rider of EASTERN SCORPION, in the presence of his Master, Trainer R Lines, was questioned with regards to the tactics used on his horse. App Zairi stated that his horse was a very difficult horse and it was difficult for him to steady when it went to the front. Trainer R Lines confirmed that EASTERN SCORPION was difficult but he was of the opinion that App Zairi should have made a greater attempt to steady his mount under the circumstances. App Zairi was warned to pay greater attention to the pace he sets in future.

 RACE 5:  DA MA CAI STAKES,  CLASS 4 (HOME BASED) - 1600M

WINNING ACE, which was up 20kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

The saddle on HAN VENTURE was readjusted just prior to the start.

WINNING ACE and HAN VENTURE were both slow into stride.

HAN VENTURE and INSPIRATION both hung out in the straight.

HUYPIRCART drifted out in the straight.

The whip on SRI DYNAMIC (App S Sandana) broke during running.

A post-race veterinary examination of COLONIAL HERO revealed that it was lame near-fore and as such will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being entered to race again.

 RACE 6:  CLASS 5 (HOME BASED) - 1600M

Emergency acceptors MACA, PROUD MARY and DIAMOND SUPER were withdrawn due to a capacity field.

The Stewards permitted Jockey V Sivan to replace Jockey I Saifudin on CHIEF OF HONOUR as the latter was certified unwell.

CONFETTI, which dislodged App M Zairi as it entered the track, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon and was passed fit to race.

CHIEF OF HONOUR jumped awkwardly inwards, making contact with THUNDER DANCE.

QUEENARDO was inconvenienced shortly after the start as a result of CONFETTI jumping awkwardly inwards and AUSPICIOUS SIGN jumping awkwardly outwards.

QUEENARDO and CHIEF OF HONOUR were obliged to race wide on the turn.

ZANHOOVES, which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being entered to race again.

App S Sandana, the rider of AUSPICIOUS SIGN, Jockey H Samsir, the rider of WING AURA, and App M Zairi, the rider of CONFETTI, reported that their horses were not striding out freely. Post-race veterinary examinations of AUSPICIOUS SIGN, WING AURA and CONFETTI revealed no obvious abnormality.

A post-race veterinary examination of CHINA TOWN KING revealed that the gelding returned exhibiting signs of heat stress and was administered with emergency treatment by the Veterinary Department. Acting on a report from the Club Veterinary Surgeon, CHINA TOWN KING will be placed under a 2-week embargo, will be required to undergo a thorough veterinary examination and thereafter pass a test (1000m/vet) before being entered to race again. The gelding was impounded.

 RACE 7:  CLASS 5, DIV 1 (HOME BASED) - 1200M

UNIVERSAL ASSET, a course scratching as it was lame off-fore fetlock and knee, will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being entered to race again.

JOKER SWEET, a course scratching as it was lame off-fore, will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being entered to race again.

FORCE MAJEURE, which was up 26kgs in body weight, and EASY GOING, which was down 22kgs in body weight since their last runs, were checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and were passed fit to start.

EASY GOING turned its head towards the inside on jumping, resulting in it being awkward to begin, losing a number of lengths.

FORCE MAJEURE was obliged to race wide on the turn.

App S Sandana, the rider of ACE ESPRIT, reported that his horse was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of ACE ESPRIT revealed that it was lame near-fore and as such will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being entered to race again.

 RACE 8:  CLASS 4, DIV 2 (H0ME BASED) - 1200M

TRUST N SINCERE, which was up 18kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

The Stewards permitted Jockey MW Teh to replace Jockey WK Yan on ALPHA LEONIS as the latter did not arrive on course. This matter would be investigated further.

ALPHA LEONIS jumped awkwardly outwards, carrying KIKO’S JOURNEY out onto ROYAL JET which was inconvenienced.

JOKER DE ARMADA was slow into stride.

PENANG BEAUTY shifted out at approximately the 200m mark to obtain a clear run.

JOKER DE ARMADA shifted out abruptly over the heels of GOLD SWEEP in the later stages.

Jockey H Samsir, the rider of JOKER DE ARMADA, reported that his horse was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of JOKER DE ARMADA revealed no obvious abnormality.

 RACE 9:  CLASS 4, DIV 1 (HOME BASED) - 1200M

OYSTER BAY, which was down 16kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

JACKSON ducked out abruptly at the start, inconveniencing MIDNIGHT REEF and JERAM ELEGANT.

IT’S MY GIFT was inconvenienced shortly after the start as a result of SPOTLIGHT jumping awkwardly outwards.

A post-race veterinary examination of IT’S MY GIFT revealed that it was lame near fore and as such will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being entered to race again.

A post-race veterinary examination of JOKER DE BEST revealed that it was lame off-fore and as such will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being entered to race again.

 RACE 10:  MARA OPEN HANDICAP, DIV 2 - 1200M

TRUE DAZZLER, which was down 39kgs in body weight, and IAMBACK, which was down 16kgs in body weight since their last runs, were checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and were passed fit to start.

IAMBACK reared on jumping.

At approximately the 350m mark, NEW YORK CITY had to steady when tightened between RAINMAKER and TRUE DAZZLER.

Amateur Rider R Mazlan, the rider of WINGED LIGHT, was shown the film of the start and was warned that in future he would be expected to ensure that he gives his mount sufficient rein on jumping.

LIBRA STAR, which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being entered to race again.

A post-race veterinary examination of NEW YORK CITY revealed that it was lame near-fore and as such will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being entered to race again.

 GENERAL

RACE 2 (R273), 4TH DAY, SUNDAY, 9 MARCH 2008

At the conclusion of an inquiry on 10t March 2008 and after taking evidence from Trainer KC Hah, Jockey I Ismadi, the rider of GOLD LION, was found guilty of a charge under MRA Rule 44(10) for failing to ride to the satisfaction of the Stewards. The particulars of the charge were that he failed to make sufficient effort to place his mount in a handy position as instructed and he failed to ride his mount with sufficient vigour in the straight.

When deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into consideration all the facts of this case including Jockey Ismadi’s record. Jockey Ismadi was suspended from riding in races for a period of two months with effect from 10 March 2008 and to expire on 9 May 2008, both days inclusive. He was advised of his right of appeal (12pm).

RACE 5 (R276), 4TH DAY, SUNDAY, 9 MARCH 2008

At the conclusion of an inquiry on 10 March 2008 and after taking evidence from Jockey Y Aify, the rider of JERAM JAMES, and Trainer F Maynard, the Stewards decided to take no further action other than to inform Jockey Y Aify that he cannot accept the ride on this horse again without prior approval of the Stewards. Further to that, his attention was drawn to MRA Rule 44(11) in that he must ensure that he gives accurate race reports in future.

Trainer F Maynard was informed to ensure that in future, he must inform his riders of any particular idiosyncrasies his horses may have.

RACE 3 (R274), 4TH DAY, SUNDAY, 9 MARCH 2008

At the conclusion of an inquiry on 10 March 2008, Jockey A Kumarentheran, the rider of TOMBOY, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(c) in that whilst riding TOMBOY in the above race, he shifted in at approximately the 900m mark resulting in I CARE becoming cramped and having to check. BRILLIANT LEGEND and BRING IN FORTUNES, which were following, had to take evasive action.

When deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into account Jockey Kumarentheran’s previous clean record and he was suspended from riding in races for a period of three race days with effect from 10 March 2008 and to expire on 20 March 2008, both days inclusive. He was advised of his right of appeal (1:05pm).

RACE 7 (R278), 4TH DAY, SUNDAY, 9 MARCH 2008

At the conclusion of an inquiry on 10 March 2008, Jockey A Kumarentheran, the rider of FANTASTIC FORTUNE, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(c) in that whilst riding FANTASTIC FORTUNE in the above race, he shifted out at approximately the 200m mark when insufficiently clear of DYNASTY SUPER, causing that horse to be checked.

When deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into account Jockey Kumarentheran’s previous record and he was suspended from riding in races for a period of four race days with effect from 21 March 2008 and to expire on 26 March 2008, both days inclusive. He was advised of his right of appeal (1:25pm).

RACE 8 (R279), 4TH DAY, SUNDAY, 9 MARCH 2008

At the conclusion of an inquiry on 10 March 2008 and after taking evidence from Jockey A Kumarentheran, the rider of JAZZMINT DELIGHT, and Trainer KF Wong, the Stewards decided to take no further action other than to inform Jockey Kumarentheran that the Stewards were not entirely satisfied with his ride from the 200m mark to the 100m mark and he was warned that in future he would be expected to ride all his mounts in such a manner so as to leave no room for query.

RACE 10 (R281), 4TH DAY, SUNDAY, 9 MARCH 2008

At the conclusion of an inquiry on 10 March 2008 and after taking evidence from Trainer KL Chong, Jockey A Kumarentheran, the rider of POWER OF NINE, was found guilty of a charge under MRA Rule 44(10) for failing to ride to the satisfaction of the Stewards. The particulars of the charge were that after being cramped at approximately the 250m mark, he became unbalanced and remained unbalanced until shortly before the finish.

When deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into consideration all the facts of this case, Jockey Kumarentheran’s points of mitigation and his record. Jockey Kumarentheran was suspended from riding in races for a period of three months with effect from 27 March 2008 and to expire on 26 June 2008, both days inclusive. He was advised of his right of appeal (3:20pm).

Jockey Kumarentheran subsequently exercised his right of appeal on 11 March 2008 and applied for a stay of sentence, which was granted. The appeal will be held on a date to be fixed.

Passing the 250m mark, POWER OF NINE steadied as a result of FLYING MELANG which rolled inwards.

NOTHATEASY (V210) dislodged Jockey WK Yan on the way to the start when its saddle slipped. To avoid unnecessary delay, the gelding was withdrawn by order of the Stewards at 5.26pm.

THURSDAY, 20 MARCH 2008 - SELANGOR TURF CLUB PRO-AM MARCH MEETING 2008

Trainer SB Tan was fined RM200 for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for entering LIM’S DESIRE for the above meeting when he was not entitled to do so.

Trainer P Tennent was fined RM200 for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for entering SUPER FAST for the above meeting when it was ineligible for entry.

The report dated 13 March 2008 (V08/12.1) from the Chief Analyst of Veterinary Forensic Laboratory stated that 60 coded urine and 60 sets of coded blood samples from the above-mentioned race meeting were received on 3 March 2008, for analysis under the MRA Rules and Regulations. No prohibited substances were detected.
