The Stewards questioned Trainer BT Lim and App A Farezul as to the racing tactics that were adopted on SAGAR’S EXPRESS in particular in the main straight in today’s event. App A Farezul explained that he accidentally dropped his off-side rein and as a result, the horse shifted inwards which resulted in him becoming unbalanced and failing to regain his rein. He further explained that SAGAR’S EXPRESS had a tendency to lay in for the remainder part of the home straight. Trainer BT Lim stated that SAGAR’S EXPRESS is a difficult horse to ride, however, believed the 4-kg claim may have helped the gelding and was running out of options to improve the gelding. The Stewards, after viewing the official patrol film and acting on their own observations, informed Trainer BT Lim that he should ensure that he places an experienced jockey on this horse in future given its previous racing habits. The Stewards noted their comments for future reference. The Stewards ordered App A Farezul that he will be stood down from race riding until he can show an improvement in his riding skills.

The Stewards questioned Trainer W Lim and App AK Lim into the performance of RAINBOW FUTURE in today’s event. Trainer W Lim explained that he was happy with the ride and he did support the gelding in the betting and believed that in future, the gelding may be suited in a longer distance than a 1300m race. App AK Lim stated that he agreed with his trainer’s observations. The Stewards noted their comments for future reference.

The Stewards concurred with Trainer W Lim’s request and a public announcement was made to this effect.

At the conclusion of an inquiry, Jockey CK Tan, the rider of KIM SALUTE, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that from a wide barrier, approaching the 1100m, KIM SALUTE (CK Tan) shifted inwards when insufficiently clear resulting in WHAT’S DAT being taken in onto TURBO (R Woodworth) which had to be severely checked by its rider. Approaching the 1000m mark, KIM SALUTE continued to shift in when ridden forward by tis rider, further resulting in WHAT’S DAT, CHAMPAGNE ROSE (App S Zulfikri), BUNGAE (App A Thamil) and ENGLISH DREAM (M Wepner) all being inconvenienced. Acting on the provisions of MRA Rule 48(5), the Stewards deferred the commencement of Jockey CK Tan’s suspension. He was suspended from riding in races for a period of four Malaysian race days with effect from 21 March 2016 and to expire on 9 April 2016, both dates inclusive.
