 RACE 1:  CLASS 5 - 1200M

The Stewards questioned Jockey J Low into the riding tactics that will be adopted on FOX TREASURE in today’s event. Jockey J Low explained that he will be endeavouring to get a good jump as the horse has previously had a tendency to begin slowly. He further stated that he will be riding to the Trainer’s instructions which are to be well-back, do his best in the home straight and to gain the best possible placing. The Stewards noted his comments for future reference.

In the early stages of the event, LIGHTNING QUEEN had a tendency to over-race on 2 occasions and clipped the heels of TAVAN BOGD (App AK Lim) and blundered resulting in the rider in becoming unbalanced.

Approaching the 1000m, WAWA MASTER began to over-race and got its head up resulting in the rider, App P Deneskumar having to check off the heels of TAVAN BOGD and as a result lost ground.

Approaching the 1000m, BULL AND BEAR had to be eased off the heels of TARAMIS.

FOX TREASURE had a tendency to over-race in the early stages of the event.

 RACE 4:  CLASS 4 - 1200M

This race was run in heavy rain.

Approaching the 1000m, LAUS DEO laid in and slightly inconvenienced SACRED CITY (M Ganeesh).

Racing to the 200m, SWEET LODGE (J Shankar) shifted inwards when being struck with the whip and as a result, SUPER GOOD (Lou Ho) had to be checked by its rider and lost its position

Over the concluding stages, LAUS DEO shifted in under pressure resulting in SUPER GOOD being inconvenienced.

All riders returned to scale an average of 2kgs overweight due to the adverse weather conditions.

After taking evidence from Trainer PS Kumaran, the Stewards adjourned an inquiry into the riding of SACRED CITY by Jockey M Ganeesh, at a date to be fixed as the latter had left the course.

The Stewards questioned Trainer P Fell and App S Shafrizal into the reasons why 5-year-old gelding GAZOO stood in the barrier and was very slow to begin as it was one of the favourite runners in the event. App S Shafrizal stated that he was instructed to encourage the horse to jump keenly as in the opinion of the trainer, he was slow to jump from the barriers in his last start.

Trainer P Fell stated that the gelding came from Singapore and in his opinion, it had previously offended by failing to jump from the barriers and this was the reason why he instructed App S Shafrizal to wake the horse up entering and whilst inside the barrier.

The Stewards, after viewing the official patrol film in particular the barrier cam, was satisfied that it was all horse and not the fault of the rider. The Stewards noted their comments for future reference, however, GAZOO will be required to pass 1 starting stall test before being declared to race again. Trainer P Fell reported that GAZOO will be going for an immediate spell.

The Stewards questioned App WK Lee into the tactics that were adopted on LAUS DEO in particular shortly after the start. He informed the Stewards that LAUS DEO was fractious in the barrier and he was calling for a barrier handler to be of assistance, however, the gates opened and he failed to have his off side foot in the iron and this placed him at a disadvantage for some distance shortly after the start.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that LAUS DEO returned having bled. In terms of MRA Rule 92(3), it will not be permitted to canter or gallop on the main training tracks of any racecourse for a period of 2 months, and be entered for a bleeder’s test for a period of 3 months, and start in any race for a period of 3 months after such declaration, and then only after passing the bleeder’s test.

The Stewards questioned Jockey J Shankar, the rider of SWEET LODGE, into the reasons why SUPER GOOD (Lou Ho) had to be checked at approximately the 300m mark. After taking evidence from Jockey J Shankar, the Stewards, acting on their own observations, gave him a "benefit of the doubt" that whilst riding his horse out with the whip in the right hand, he allowed his horse to shift in which placed SUPER GOOD in restricted racing room resulting in that horse having to be checked by its rider.

The Stewards took into consideration the heavy rain and poor visibility on this occasion, however, warned Jockey J Shankar in the strongest term that he should ensure that as soon as this horse started to shift ground, he must stop and straighten as this was not the case on this occasion.
