Fourth Day,  Sunday,  28 February 2016

 RACE 1:  CLASS 5 - 1800M

FLYING GIFT (App KC Wong) showed no early pace despite being urged along.

MAN OF THE WORLD (J Shankar) hung out from approximately the 800m mark and into the straight.

The saddle on GEORGIE BOY (App M Rashpassing) slipped back.

A post-race veterinary examination of FLYING GIFT revealed no obvious abnormality. FLYING GIFT was impounded.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that TIME TO SHINE (M Yusri) returned having cast its near-hind plate.

 RACE 2:  CLASS 5 - 1800M

KING OF THE CREEK (J Low) over-raced in the early and middle stages.

Jockey R Olechea, the rider of PISCES GEM dropped his whip at the 100m mark and was warned that a repetition may lead to a penalty being imposed.

A post-race veterinary examination of PISCES GEM (R Olechea) revealed no obvious abnormality.

 RACE 3:  CLASS 5 - 1400M

ZENIDIN, which was up 17kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

JETSTAR EAGLE (App AK Lim), which stood and lost considerable ground, will be required to pass one starting stall test before being declared to race again.

Jockeys J Shankar and HS Gill, the rider of PRINCE ISLANDER and FIRE GENERAL respectively reported that their mounts were not striding out freely. Post-race veterinary examinations of PRINCE ISLANDER and FIRE GENERAL revealed no obvious abnormality.

A post-race veterinary examination of SEA BUTTERFLY (App S Shafrizal) revealed no obvious abnormality.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that PROPITIONS GOLD (M Yusri) returned having cast its near-hind plate.

When questioned regarding the improved performance of BIG EGO (R Olechea) as compared to its last start on 20 February 2016, Trainer P Pereira stated that he had kept BIG EGO very fresh and in his opinion, a better rider may have contributed to its improved performance. His attention was drawn to the rules regarding ‘in-and-out’ running.

 RACE 4:  ENRICH STAKES A - 1400M

ECLAIR SENSATION, a course scratching as it had a stone bruise near-fore, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

SUPER CROWN, which was down 22kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

TEN SENSE WIN (R Olechea) reared on jumping.

BEAUTIFUL CHOICE (Lou Ho) was slow to begin.

Approaching the 800m mark, SUPER CROWN (App SU Lim) rolled outwards slightly, making contact with TRUSON (App P Mogun), resulting in this horse being shifted outwards, crossing CRAZY CLUB (J Shankar), resulting in Jockey J Shankar having to steady. App P Mogun, the rider of TRUSON in the presence of his master, Trainer S Cook and App SU Lim, the rider of SUPER CROWN in the presence of his acting master, Trainer N Azman, were shown the video of this incident and were warned to exercise more care when shifting ground in future.

A post-race veterinary examination of RUSH (M Yusri) revealed no obvious abnormality.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that SUPER CROWN returned lame off-fore and as such, the gelding will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being declared to race again.

 RACE 5:  CLASS 5 - 1200M

POT BLACK and ONWATS APP, both course scratching as they had a bruise off-fore fetlock and skin allergy respectively, will each be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

BUKIT BINTANG (TM Wan), which was over-racing at approximately the 800m mark, shifted outwards, carrying NO MONEY NO TALK (F Yap) wide on the bend.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that PIUS TOUCH (S Sandana) returned having cast its off-fore plate.

 RACE 6:  PREMIUM (3 & 4YO) - 1200M

OKI OKI and GOLDEN EMPIRE, both course scratching as they had sore back and respiratory infection respectively, will each be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

Trainer PK Leong was fined RM250 under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for negligence in that he had failed to declare the use of shadow-roll and special bit on V RESPECT U (App KC Wong) within the stipulated time.

V RESPECT U hung out in the straight.

 RACE 7:  CLASS 4 - 1200M

OUR CHICK MAN, which was up 21kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

BLACK VISCOUNT (S Sandana) dipped on jumping.

The saddle on TAGORE (App J Daniel) slipped back during the running.

On pulling-up, App J Daniel, the rider of TAGORE was dislodged from his mount. He was subsequently examined by the Club Medical Officer and was certified fit to fulfill the remainder of his riding engagement.

A post-race veterinary examination of BLACK VISCOUNT revealed no obvious abnormality.

 RACE 8:  CLASS 4 - 1200M

BRAVE SISTER (App M Rashpassing) stumbled badly on jumping and shifted outwards, crossing RIEDEL (TM Wan).

CANDY CRUSH (App SU Lim) brushed the outside gate on jumping and shortly thereafter, was cramped for galloping room when GREEN TRACER (J Shankar) jumped awkwardly inwards and JOHNNY’S CAFE (App T Krisna) jumped awkwardly outwards.

At the conclusion of an inquiry today, App M Rashpassing, the rider of BRAVE SISTER in the presence of his master, Trainer Nor Azman, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that whilst riding BRAVE SISTER, he allowed his mount to shift outwards at approximately the 300m mark, carrying JOHNNY’S CAFE out, across GREEN TRACER, resulting in GREEN TRACER clipping the heels of JOHNNY’S CAFE, stumbling badly and dislodging Jockey J Shankar. CANDY CRUSH, which was following, had to take evasive action to avoid the fallen rider and lost ground.

In deciding on the penalty, the Stewards took into consideration the degree of interference caused and mitigating factors. App M Rashpassing was suspended from riding in races for a period of one month with effect from Monday, 29 February 2016 and to expire on Monday, 28 March 2016, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his right of appeal (6.12pm).

App T Krisna, the rider of JOHNNY’S ,got his whip entangled and accidentally dropped it when he struck the arm of Jockey F Yap, the rider of ALIEN at the 250m mark.

App SU Lim, the rider of CANDY CRUSH, reported that his mount was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of CANDY CRUSH revealed no obvious abnormality.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that GREEN TRACER returned lame near-fore and as such, the gelding will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being declared to race again.

ALIEN, which returned with a cut to its off-fore cannon, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

 GENERAL

RACE 6 (R278), PERAK FEBRUARY MEETING, 3RD DAY, SATURDAY, 27 FEBRUARY 2016

Jockey J Shankar had lodged an appeal against the two Malaysian race days imposed by the Stipendiary Stewards for careless riding on KIM DIVA in the above race and applied for a stay of sentence. After considering all his evidence, the Stewards GRANTED him a stay and the appeal will be heard on a date to be fixed.

A subsequent post-race veterinary examination of KIM DIVA (J Shankar) revealed no apparent abnormality.
