Second Day,  Sunday,  21 February 2016

 RACE 1:  CLASS 5 - 1200M

CONTENTED, a course scratching as it had sustained a bruised near-fore fetlock, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

As the start was effected, GOOD GOOD LUCK (J Low) jumped awkwardly outwards, simultaneously ADMIRAL DELIGHT (J Shankar) jumped awkwardly inwards, resulting in PROPITIONS GOLD (M Yusri) and NICE HAT TRICK (App S Saddam) becoming cramped for galloping room.

Approaching the 800m mark, CAMRY (J De Souza), which was over-racing, ran up to the heels of GOOD GOOD LUCK and was forced to steady outwards, resulting in SPARKLER (F Yap) being shifted outwards. PROPITIONS GOLD, which was following, was forced to steady off the heels of SPARKLER.

NICE HAT TRICK, which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being declared to race again.

A post-race veterinary examination of SPARKLER revealed no obvious abnormality.

 RACE 2:  CLASS 5 - 1200M

BLAZING STEED (M Yusri), which stood flat-footed, losing considerable ground, will be required to pass one starting stall test before being declared to race again.

Shortly after the start, Jockey J Shankar, the rider of THE THINKER shifted inwards across TWELFTH AVENUE (KT Cheng) which resulted in TWELFTH AVENUE shifting inwards and PRINCE ISLANDER (App S Shafrizal), which was following, having to steady momentarily. Jockey J Shankar was shown the film and warned to exercise more care when shifting ground in future.

EMPRESS GIOK (Lou Ho) over-raced in the early and middle stages of the races.

THE THINKER, which was hanging out, shifted outwards in the concluding stages across PRINCE ISLANDER.

A post-race veterinary examination of STUB (WK Yan) revealed that the gelding had returned lame off-fore and as such, will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being declared to race again.

A post-race veterinary examination of CERIUM (App AK Lim) revealed no obvious abnormality. CERIUM was impounded.

 RACE 3:  CLASS 4 - 1000M

TEN SENSE WIN, which was up 17kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

This race was re-scheduled to start 5 minutes later at 2.55pm.

RUSH (WK Yan) jumped awkwardly outwards, brushing the outside gate and as a result of this, was slow into stride.

A post-race veterinary examination of NICEONE (M Yusri) revealed that the gelding had returned with respiratory distress and as such, will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being declared to race again.

 RACE 4:  COSMO D - 1400M

Trainer KF Wong was fined RM100 under MRA 65(5)(c) for failing to produce the declared colours on PRETTY ABLE (WK Yan).

Acting on veterinary advice that VALHALLA (App AK Lim) had sustained a nail prick in its near-fore foot, the Stewards ordered its withdrawal at 3.18pm. VALHALLA will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

This race was re-scheduled to start 5 minutes later at 3.25pm.

EN LAUDER (J De Souza) got its leg cast in the starting stalls, was removed from the barrier and examined by the Club Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to take part in the race.

Acting on a report from the Starter that PISCES JET (App P Mogun) was difficult to be loaded, delaying the start, the gelding will be required to pass one starting stall test before being declared to race again.

GOLD DANCER (App S Shafrizal) and D’CREATOR (M Yusri) were slow to begin.

 RACE 5:  CLASS 4 - 1000M

Acting on a veterinary report that XAVIO had sustained a cut to its near-hind foot, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of XAVIO at 1.05pm. The gelding will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

METEOR PRINCE (TM Wan) stumbled shortly after the start.

PIUS TOUCH (App S Shafrizal) raced wide into the home straight.

Racing up to the 300m mark, App J Daniel, the rider of TAGORE dropped his off-side rein and managed to regain it shortly thereafter.

Post-race veterinary examinations of WHY LIKE THAT (App T Krisna) and HAPPY FLYING (J De Souza) revealed no obvious abnormality. WHY LIKE THAT was impounded.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that CUSTODIAN (S Salee) had returned lame off-fore and as such, will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being declared to race again.

App J Daniel, the rider of TAGORE was dislodged on pulling-up, was examined by the Club Medical Officer and certified fit to fulfil the remainder of his engagements.

When questioned, Trainer PS Kumaran was unable to give any tangible explanation regarding the poor performance of SAM THE MAN on 16 January 2016 at SLTC, as compared to its improved performance today. Trainer PS Kumaran’s attention was drawn to the rules pertaining to ‘in-and-out’ running.

App T Krisna (WHY LIKE THAT) in the presence of his master Trainer R Lines was shown the video of his ride and warned about giving ground unnecessarily at the start.

 RACE 6:  CLASS 4 - 1000M

FLUTZ, which was up 15kgs, and BRAVE SISTER, which was down 16kgs in body weight since their last run, were checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and were passed fit to start.

This race was re-scheduled to start 5 minutes later at 4.30pm.

SIR RALLY (App S Shafrizal) jumped awkwardly outwards, making heavy contact with HAPPY AMIGO (C Goon). Simultaneously, HENNESSY DRAGON (J Low) jumped awkwardly inwards, carrying FLUTZ (App P Mogun) inwards onto MOUNT KINABALU (SS Vanan) which was crowded and lost ground in this incident.

MOUNT KINABALU, which was hanging out, raced wide rounding the turn.

 RACE 7:  CLASS 4 - 1400M

INDOMITABLE RHINO sustained severe injury whilst being unloaded from the float and died.

This race was re-scheduled to start 5 minutes later at 5.00pm.

STORM HERO (J Shankar) was slow into stride.

A post-race veterinary examination of BEAUTIFUL BABY (Lou Ho) revealed no obvious abnormality.

 RACE 8:  CLASS 4 - 1400M

Acting on veterinary advice that GET THE LOTSKI (WK Yan) was displaying abnormal behavior, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of GET THE LOTSKI at 5.19pm. The gelding was impounded.

SEA QUEEN (J De Souza) was slow to begin.

A post-race veterinary examination of MR MAGNUS (C Goon) revealed no obvious abnormality.
