 PERAK TURF CLUB
FEBRUARY MEETING
First Day,  Saturday,  20 February 2016

 RACE 1:  CLASS 5 - 1100M STR

BERCHAM, which was up 31kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

MONEY NOT ENOUGH (J Shankar) and TIME TO SHINE (M Yusri) came together on jumping.

CASPER (App S Shafrizal) was slow to begin.

BERCHAM (WK Yan) shifted in sharply shortly after the start and thereafter, laid out from the 350M mark to the finish.

The saddle on MARYLEBONE PARK (App J Daniel) slipped backwards during the running.

CIVIL UNION (R Burnett), which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being declared to race again. A post-race veterinary examination of CIVIL UNION revealed no obvious abnormality.

 RACE 2:  CLASS 5 - 1100M STR

COSTNER, which was down 17kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

ROCKET EXPRESS (App KC Wong) was slow to begin.

Jockeys WK Yan, the rider of COSTNER and J Shankar, the rider of VELLFIRE reported that their mounts were not striding out freely. Post-race veterinary examinations of COSTNER and VELLFIRE revealed no obvious abnormality.

COSTNER, which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being declared to race again.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that MARCO POLO (App AK Lim) returned having cast its off-fore plate.

 RACE 3:  CLASS 5 - 1600M

PERFECT FIXER, a course scratching as it had an injured left hip (float injury), will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

PISCES GEM (App SU Lim) shifted inwards in anticipation of the short course turn, resulting in GREAT PRINCE (App KC Wong) having to steady.

Post-race veterinary examinations of GREAT PRINCE and HAPPY SURPRISER (App Z Khairil) revealed no obvious abnormality.

 RACE 4:  CLASS 5 - 1600M

ZHAN SHEN, which was up 16kgs, and ZENIDIN, which was down 18kgs in body weight since their last run, were checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and were passed fit to start.

JETSTAR EAGLE (App AK Lim) was slow to begin.

ZHAN SHEN (WK Yan) raced wide on the first turn.

At the conclusion of an inquiry, App Z Khairil, the rider of EMPEROR QIAN LONG in the presence of his master, Trainer S Hamilton pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that whilst riding EMPEROR QIAN LONG, he allowed his mount to shift inwards passing the 900m mark, carrying TURBO (Lou Ho) in, resulting in FLY NOW (M Yusri) having to check. ZENIDIN (App S Saddam), which was following, had to steady off the heels of FLY NOW. In deciding on the penalty, the Stewards took into account his clean riding record and mitigating factors. App Z Khairil was suspended from riding in races for a period of two Malaysian race days with effect from Monday, 22 February 2016 and to expire on Sunday, 28 February 2016, both dates inclusive. He was advised of his right of appeal (4.15pm).

FLY NOW and EMPEROR QIAN LONG, which raced poorly, will each be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being declared to race again. Post-race veterinary examinations of FLY NOW and APROBACION (App S Shafrizal) revealed no obvious abnormality. APROBACION was impounded.

 RACE 5:  CLASS 4 - 1800M

COCONUT (App S Shafrizal) was slow to begin.

A post-race veterinary examination of COCONUT revealed no obvious abnormality.

 RACE 6:  JRA GOODWILL TROPHY
                 ENRICH STAKES A - 1200M

BEAUTIFUL CHOICE (Lou Ho) was slow into stride and showed no pace, despite being urged.

TILSWORTH FREDDIE (App M Rashpassing) which was hanging out, raced wide on the turn and into the straight.

Post-race veterinary examinations of BLACK AND WHITE (App S Shafrizal) and TILSWORTH FREDDIE revealed no obvious abnormality. BLACK AND WHITE was impounded.

 RACE 7:  CLASS 5 - 1200M

Light rain fell prior to and during the running of this race.

Jockey K Yazid, who was dislodged from MY SWALLOW on the way to the start, was examined by the Club Medical Officer, was certified unfit and stood down. MY SWALLOW was withdrawn by order of the Stewards at 5.05pm.

MARINI WALTZ (TM Wan) was examined by the Club Veterinary Surgeon behind the barriers and was passed fit to start.

AWINISAWIN (App J Daniel) jumped awkwardly outwards, taking up the running of DEPUTY LAW (M Yusri), thereafter he shifted outwards onto MARINI WALTZ which in turn, bumped GOLD STAR PRINCESS (F Yap).

Racing past the 400m mark, MARINI WALTZ slipped and became unbalanced for a number of strides.

LEE’S MELODY (SS Vanan) hung out in the straight.

Jockey TM Wan, the rider of MARINI WALTZ reported that his mount was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of MARINI WALTZ revealed that the mare had returned lame off-fore and as such, will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet).

A post-race veterinary examination of LUCK TREASURE (App SU Lim) revealed no obvious abnormality.

 GENERAL

POST-RACE URINE: 30 & 31 JANUARY 2016
PENANG JANUARY MEETING 2016

The report dated 12 February 2016 (V16/17) from the Chief Analyst of Veterinary Forensic Laboratory stated that 48 coded urine and 60 sets of coded blood samples from the above-mentioned race meeting were received on 1 February 2016, for analysis under the MRA Rules and Regulations. No prohibited substances were detected.

PERAK TURF CLUB TRACKWORK – 16/2/2016:

KUANTAN HILL (J721), which bled after the Official Steward’s Embargo Test on Tuesday (16/02/2016) will be barred from racing for a period of three months under MRA Rules 92(3)(a)&(b) and thereafter, will be required to pass a Bleeder’s Test before being declared to race again.

PRTC LICENSING COMMITTEE:

The Perak Turf Club Licensing Committee granted Jockey Rio Arthur Burnett (R Burnett) a licence to ride at the Perak Mid-February Race Meeting on Saturday, 20 February 2016.

STEWARDS’ EMBARGO (PRTC VETERINARY SURGEON’S REPORT): 19 FEBRUARY 2016:

The following horses have undergone corrective surgery at the PRTC Equine Hospital and as such, will be subjected to a Steward’s Embargo Test before being declared to race again:-

1. HUSSAR (N645) – Tr BT Lim – arthroscopy left knee – 1000m/Vet

2. ROCK D’BOAT (R356) – Tr A Scott – left knee arthrotomy – 1000m/Vet

INVESTIGATION INTO A COMPLAINT BY TRACK RIDER R HASWINDY AND JOCKEY J SHANKAR AGAINST TRACK RIDER YOGESSEN MAUREE IN RELATION TO PRTC TRACKWORK ON THURSDAY, 18 FEBRUARY 2016

After taking evidence from Jockey J Shankar and Senior Track Rider R Haswindy, Track Rider Y Mauree and Trainer S Cook, the employer of Track Rider Y Mauree, the Stewards found that Track Rider Y Mauree had failed to adhere to the track regulation during trackwork on Thursday, 18 February 2016 at PRTC. Track Rider Y Mauree was severely reprimanded and advised that a repetition of this incident in future, may incur a more severe penalty. Trainer S Cook was also advised that if he feels that apprentices/track riders are not capable of handling difficult horses, he must put on more experienced riders to work these horses.
