APRIL (DERBY) MEETING
Second Day,  Sunday,  6 April 2008

 RACE 1:  MAIDEN - 1600M

LIM’S INFINITY, a course scratching as it had sustained a bruised near-fore sole, will be required to undergo a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

KIM DRAGON was slow into stride.

Approaching the 1100m mark, INNER SANCTUM had to steady when racing tight between UNCLETWO and FORTYEIGHT KING.

REALMAN shifted in at approximately the 1000m mark.

ZHANG JIANG which was hanging out in the straight, carried UNCLETWO wide.

EMINENT STAR had a tendency to lay out and BULLET PROOF had a tendency to lay in in the straight.

A post-race veterinary examination of FEEL THE POWER revealed no obvious abnormality.

 RACE 2:  CLASS 5 - 1100M STR

FREEDOM, which was up 33kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

Trainer JB Brogan was fined RM250 for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a) for presenting WORLD RECORD with incorrect gears. To avoid unnecessary delay, the Stewards permitted WORLD RECORD to race in pacifiers only (without tongue-tie and shadow roll).

WUNDERBAR, which broke through its gate and ran a considerable distance, was withdrawn by order of the Stewards at 1:32pm

Whilst being loaded into the barrier, VICTORY MELANG became fractious and was cast in its stall. Acting on veterinary advice that VICTORY MELANG was sore near-fore, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of the gelding at 1:34pm. The gelding will be required to undergo a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

KIM ELLY jumped awkwardly, threw its head up and was slow to begin.

SOVEREIGN EXPRESS jumped awkwardly outwards and brushed GEEWIN.

Shortly after the start, FONDA steadied on the outside of SEE ME which in turn was taken out by PURA VIDA.

At about the 200m, WORLD WIND laid out and carried WORLD RECORD outwards.

Jockey A Kumarentheran, the rider of SEE ME, reported that his horse was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of SEE ME revealed no obvious abnormality.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that GEEWIN returned having cast its near-hind plate.

 RACE 3:  CLASS 5 - 1600M

Approaching the 1400m mark, WINNING SMILE (YF Leong) rolled outwards slightly and shortly thereafter, BREAK THE BANK (App Alex Chew) shifted inwards slightly resulting in SUCCESS GIFTED and BIG STEEL being inconvenienced. App Alex Chew and Jockey YF Leong appeared before the Board, was shown the film of the incident and warned to exercise more care when shifting ground in future.

CITY VISION laid out in the straight.

The saddles on SECRET ATTIRE and SUCCESS GIFTED slipped backwards during running.

Jockey M Djulkifli, the rider of FLASHMAN, reported that his horse was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of FLASHMAN revealed no obvious abnormality.

Jockey MW Teh, the rider of BIG CAPACITY, reported that his horse was making respiratory noises. A post-race veterinary examination of BIG CAPACITY revealed no obvious abnormality.

The Club Veterinary Surgeon reported that MAGIC SAPPHIRE returned having cast its near-hind plate.

 RACE 4:  CLASS 5 - 1200M

The Stewards granted permission for Jockey M Wepner to replace Jockey J Shankar as the rider of ROYAL HAWK as the latter was unable to make the carded weight. Jockey J Shankar was fined RM500 for negligence under MRA Rule 152(5)(a).

MANDIRI, which was down 15kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

ROYAL HAWK, which kicked the back gates whilst being loaded into the barrier, was removed from the barrier, checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon and was passed fit to race.

FAIRMAN jumped awkwardly outwards, inconveniencing HAPPY COMBINATION.

ROLLING HIGH was slow into stride.

Rounding the turn at approximately the 900m mark, SUCCESS STRENGTH had to steady when it rolled outwards slightly, and BELMORAL PARK rolled inwards slightly. ROYAL HAWK and MARVELLOUS PRESENT which were following, had to take evasive action.

Jockey H Barnabas, the rider of MARVELLOUS PRESENT, was shown the film of his ride over the concluding stages and signed an Admission of Guilt Form for RM1,000 in terms of MRA Rule 41(6) for using his whip in an excessive manner on his mount.

At the conclusion of an inquiry today, App SS Vanan, the rider of BELMORAL PARK, in the presence of his Acting Master, Trainer HS Lim, pleaded guilty to a charge in terms of MRA Rule 41(6) for using his whip in an excessive manner on BELMORAL PARK when this horse was out of contention. When deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into consideration App SS Vanan’s previous poor record. App SS Vanan was suspended from riding in races for a period of five race days with effect from 7 April 2008 and to expire on 19 April 2008, both days inclusive. He was advised of his right of appeal (3:25pm).

App Lou Ho who rode his 40th winner on FAIRMAN in this race, would only be entitled to claim 2kgs allowance as from Monday, 7 April 2008.

A post-race veterinary examination of YI QI revealed no obvious abnormality. The gelding was impounded.

 RACE 5:  CLASS 4 - 1600M

The Stewards permitted App I Fadzlei to replace App S Thai Yang on TIME TO WIN as the latter was stood down by the Club Medical Officer.

SALTIMBANCO reared on jumping, being slow to begin.

PEAK OF LIFE was slow into stride.

WHY ME was obliged to race wide on the bend.

Jockey J Shankar, the rider of KIM HUNG, reported that his horse was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of KIM HUNG revealed no obvious abnormality.

 RACE 6:  CLASS 4 - 1600M

After being loaded into the barrier, DRAGSTAR became fractious and attempted to duck under the gate. DRAGSTAR was then removed from the barrier and checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon. Acting on veterinary advice that DRAGSTAR was injured, the gelding was withdrawn by order of the Stewards at 3:32pm and will be required to pass a test (starting stall) before being entered to race again.

LAUGH HEARTILY which kicked the back gates, was removed from the barrier, checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon and was passed fit to race.

EIGHTY EIGHT KING and NINETYFIVE EAGLE were both slow into stride.

FLIRTING PRINCE, WINNING WARRIOR, BABY STAR and BRING IN FORTUNES over-raced in the back straight.

NINETYFIVE EAGLE laid out in the home straight.

FLIRTING PRINCE dipped at about the 500m.

Jockey R Woodworth, the rider of BABY STAR, reported that his horse was making respiratory noises. A post-race veterinary examination of BABY STAR revealed no obvious abnormality.

Jockey V Sivan, the rider of NINETYFIVE EAGLE, reported that his horse was not striding out freely. A post-race veterinary examination of NINETYFIVE EAGLE revealed no obvious abnormality.

 RACE 7:  CLASS 2 - 1600M

CYRIL, which was up 26kgs in body weight, and GOLD ARROW, which was up 20kgs in body weight since their last runs, were checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and were passed fit to start.

RISE TO STARDOM was slow to begin.

SPEEDY WONG CHOY over-raced in the back straight.

CYRIL hung in in the straight.

 RACE 8:  CLASS 4 - 1200M

ROYAL BEAUTY, a course scratching as it was lame near-fore, will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being entered to race again.

MAS DANCER jumped awkwardly outwards.

GLORY KINGDOM and KINGDOM POWER were both slow into stride.

GLORY KINGDOM, which was hanging out on the turn, hung in in the straight and was inconvenienced at the latter stages when LOVELY GENERAL rolled inwards.

The state of track was upgraded to “Good” after the running of this race.

 RACE 9:  DA MA CAI STAKES,  CLASS 4 - 1200M

SPEED FIRE, which was up 17kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

WINDFALL and MELANG WARRIOR were both slow into stride.

Approaching the 1100m mark, MELANG WARRIOR shied inwards from COURAGEOUS GENERAL which was shifting in, making contact with NORTHERN EXPRESS.

IZANAGI TIGER and SPEED FIRE were obliged to race wide on the bend.

App I Fadzlei, the rider of WYATT, was shown the film of his ride in the home straight and warned that in future he would be expected to ride all his horses with more vigour and determination.

A post-race veterinary examination of JACKSON revealed no obvious abnormality. The gelding was impounded.

 RACE 10:  CLASS 4 - 1200M

RED SCENT, which was up 36kgs in body weight since its last run, was checked by the Club Veterinary Surgeon prior to the race and was passed fit to start.

As there was no rider available, HAN VENTURE was withdrawn by order of the Stewards at 4:50pm.

CALL ME THE BREEZE was slow into stride.

BURN raced wide into the home straight.

At about the 200m, WHEN IN ROME ran up to and steadied off the heels of WEST THE BEST which was giving ground.

CALL ME THE BREEZE, which raced poorly, will be required to pass a test (1000m/vet) before being entered to race again.
