Trainer Evelyn Seet was questioned regarding the apparent improved performance of LONHMIN as opposed to its poor run on 12 December 2015. The only explanation that she could offer was that on that occasion, this gelding over-raced and compounded in the straight. On this occasion, she changed the bit which allowed the rider to settle the horse. Her explanation was noted and her attention was drawn to the rules pertaining to ‘in-and-out’ running. A post-race veterinary examination of LONHMIN revealed that the gelding had returned with a cut to its tongue and as such, will be required to pass a veterinary examination before being declared to race again.

HARRYS PAL (J De Souza) stumbled on jumping, unbalancing its rider.

At approximately the 800m mark, ECLAIR SENSATION (App P Mogun) shifted inwards onto NEVERUNCONDITIONAL (CK Tan), carrying him inwards onto HARRYS PAL, which resulted in these horses becoming cramped for galloping room. App P Mogun, in the presence of his acting master, Trainer N Azman, was shown the video of this incident and he was warned to exercise more care in future when shifting ground.

At approximately the 250m mark, SOUL COMMANDER (App M Hanif) shifted inwards sharply away from the whip, thereby carrying PISCES STAR (K Yazid) inwards onto ÉCLAIR SENSATION. Thereafter, he continued to shift inwards and finished the race on the inside. App M Hanif, the rider of SOUL COMMANDER in the presence of his acting master, Trainer KF Wong, was shown the video of this incident and he was warned under similar circumstances to stop using his whip or change it to his left hand to straighten his mount.

A post-race veterinary examination of NICEONE (J Shankar) revealed no obvious abnormality.

App M Hanif who rode his 40th winner on SOUL COMMANDER will now be entitled to claim 2kgs with effect from Monday, 4 January 2016.
