Apprentice Nizar lands second win

A week after landing his first win on SILENT ARROW who caused a mild upset last Friday, apprentice Mohd Nizar served a bigger surprise with JUST LANDED in the Restricted Maiden - 1200m event at Kranji here tonight.

Nizar had been unplaced on the Jimmy Choux gelding's first two runs but made it third time lucky, courtesy of a late opening on the rails.

JUST LANDED was parked just behind the leaders in a handy position throughout and was desperate to get off the rail to find a run on the outside of the leaders in the home stretch.

The opening on the rails came just 50m out, and JUST LANDED quickly charged through to win in a three-way photo, beating the favourite TOOSBIES by head to pay $175.

"Nizar can ride, but I’m now trying to get some racing sense into him," said trainer Saimee Jumaat, a former eight-time champion jockey. "Nizar is a fast learner and is getting better and better with each ride."

On JUST LANDED, he said: "This horse has improved with every run. He has come along nicely. "I expected him to run better tonight. He is still pretty green and doesn’t need much work as he is responding quite well so far."

JUST LANDED was passed in at the yearling sale when bidding failed to reach his reserved price of NZ$10,000.
