Whistling to debut Win

WHISTLING WIN cruises to a debut win in the Singapore Silver

A chance ride gave jockey John Sundradas a lucky break in the Singapore Silver Horseshoe, the second leg of the Singapore Golden Horseshoe series for juveniles, at Kranji here today.

John had earlier scored on SOON YI and success on WHISTLING WIN, who was making his racing debut, took the former champion apprentice's tally to six for the season.

John ridden the Golden Archer colt in his barrier trial but trainer Leticia Dragon nominated John Powell in the 1000m sprint on the polytrack.

When Powell was certified unfit, Dragon did not hesitate to call up John and and the latter repaid the faith with a comfortable two-length win.

"After the trial, I told Leticia she had a nice horse even if he was not 100%," said John. "He gave a very nice acceleration in the straight. He’s still learning what racing is all about and he will keep improving with more race experience."

WHISTLING WIN was purchased by Dragon for A$80,000 at the Gold Coast 2YOs in Training Sale and he will now be set for the Group 2 Singapore Golden Horseshoe on July 7.
