Impel starts new season in style

IMPEL returned from a five-month spell and immediately got the new season off to a flying start with a runaway win in an Enrich Stakes A event over 1000m here today.

Partnered by apprentice Khaw Choon Kit for the first time, the New Zealand gelding was the first to break but allowed HARRYS PAL to set the pace before challenging him at the top of the straight.

The seven-year-old, winner of the Tunku Gold Cup and Perak Gold Vase last year, drew away in the run home to win by three lengths.

It was his seventh win in nine starts in Malaysia after moving across the causeway from Singapore where he managed just one win in eight outings.
