Nunes back at best with four winners

Champion jockey Manoel Nunes was back at his brilliant best when he booted home four winners at Kranji here tonight to pull a little clear at the top of the jockey's table.

In the previous two years, Nunes was already "out of sight" at this stage of the season but he reminded his peers that he is still a force to be reckoned with through his showing tonight.

"Some days I go in with two to three good chances and end up riding no winners. On other days, things fall into place and I get four like tonight," said the Brazilian. "’m not far from riding 2,000 winners."

Nunes kicked off his evening to score on OUR TOUCHE, a gelding he had ridden twice before without success.

Nunes then rode three more winners in consecutive races, including the evening's main event, the Class 3 - 1000m sprint, on SPEEDY DRAGON.

The American gelding bounced back to form to register his first win of the season in five starts, after having scored four times from seven starts from late 2014 to last December when he last greeted the judges.

The four-year-old is well on his way to match or even better the seven wins achieved by his full brother RAPIDO STAR who has seven wins.
