Wong shines with Sun Pioneer

The postponement of Friday's night programme at Kranji to this afternoon was a blessing in disguise for apprentice Wong Chin Chuen.

It brought a rare double for the lad who moved from Malaysia to ride in Singapore last year.

The former Dr Tan Swee Hock apprentice showed a fine judge of pace when he brought DRAGON MASTER from a long way back to record the colt's maiden win in the Restricted Maiden event over 1000m on the polytrack.

DRAGON MASTER got further back in the early running than planned but was rode patiently to bring the son of Snippetson home a neck in front of HATTA.

Three races later, Wong kept SUN PIONEER with the pace, hit the front at the home turn, but still hard to work hard to bring the Nadeem gelding home a neck in front of GHOST.

It was the fourth win in 16 starts for SUN PIONEER who was placed in his only start in Australia before coming to Sinhapore.
