Three riders suspended two months each

PENANG:  Mar 1, 2015

Three riders were suspended two months each for failing to ride to the satisfaction of the Stewards after the conclusion of inquiries held on Friday and today.

On Friday, apprentice Tham Kin Chong was charged and pleaded guilty for his ride on SPEED FLYING in an open set-weight event over 1100m here on Feb 8. The Australian gelding was well-backed and finished 10th of 11 runners behind the winner BLACK AND WHITE.

Also on Friday, apprentice Shafrizal Salleh also pleaded after being hauled up for his ride on FLYING GIFT in a Class 5 - 1400m handicap here on Feb 15. The Australian gelding was not fancied in the betting and finished an eye-catching sixth behind the winner JAI HO.

Today, jockey Mohamed Nizam Abdul Jabah also pleased guilty when charged for his ride on LEGAL LORD in a Class 4 - 1300m sprint on Feb 15. The New Zealand gelding finished eighth of 10 runners behind the winner MIRACLE PRAY.
