Cuaron directs Rodd to perfect evening

Passed in as a yearling and sold for just NZ$15,000 as a two-year-old, CUARON showed the stuff he is made of when he easily won his debut in the Restricted Maiden - 1200m sprint on the polytrack at Kranji here this evening.

Ridden by Michael Rodd, the three-year-old named after the famed Mexican film director, screenwriter and producer Alfonso Cuaron hugged the rails in fourth spot before finding a gap in between horses and cleared away in the run home to win by one and three-quarter lengths.

It was the start of a perfect evening for Rodd, who went on to win his three other rides on LAUGHING GRAVY, JIM and MR WHITAKER as well.

After three consecutive third placing, LAUGHING GRAVY broke through with a runaway win in the Class 4 - 1800m handicap, finishing five and three-quarter lengths ahead of the rest. The four-year-old had won once in two starts in Australia.

Both JIM and MR WHITAKER were winning for the third time.
