Farick Tan lands first winner in comeback

After enduring a fruitless season in his comeback last year, apprentice Farick Tan finally had something to smile about when he piloted THANKFULNESS to victory in the Kranji Stakes D - 1200m sprint for claiming riders on the polytrack at Kranji here today.

It was his first since November of 2006 during which he rode six winners.

Tan drew a blank in 2007 and tried to revive his career in Malaysia in 2008 but had only one winner to show that year and three the following season.

Tan again drew a blank in 2010 and subsequently hung up his boots.

The lure of racing drew him back to his original master Laurie Laxon last year but he had to endure a frustrating wait for his first success in Singapore for more than eight years.

"A big thank you to the boss and all the team for their support behind that win," said the Singapore born rider, now 33.
