Super winner for Soo on his birthday

SUPER WINE gets the better of AMI - SNTC photo

SUPER WINE made it three wins from four starts in the Benchmark 67 - 1000m sprint on the polytrack at Kranji here today, giving his regular rider Soo Khoon Beng a perfect 40th birthday present.

Soo, the champion jockey in Singapore in 2005, parked the Australian three-year-old fourth on settling down, then got the better of the odds-on favourite AMI to win by half a length.

SUPER WINE was purchased by his trainer Theo Kieser for A$35,000 as a yearling and has now picked up S$130,000 from three wins and a second.

"It’s a lucky day for me! And I am very happy for the owners and this horse too," said the birthday boy.

"This horse has a big heart, he always does his best in races," said Kieser.

SUPER WINE's only defeat thus far came at the hands of AFFLECK in the first leg of the More Magic 3YO Championship series in September.
