Nunes back in limelight with treble

After missing one week of action through suspension and then drawing a blank last week, Manoel Nunes bounced back the best way he could, winning three races including the main feature at Kranji tonight.

After recording his 200th win in Singapore astride AL VALORE in The Wolf Blass Cup, Nunes drove WONDERFUL PRINCE home to win The Austcham Cup for Class 3 horses over 1200m.

Despite racing after a four-month break, the New Zealand gelding started a firm second favourite and beat three outsiders to win by three-quarter length and made amends for his last start defeat to make it four wins and a second in five starts in Singapore.

WONDERFUL PRINCE was unplaced in two starts in Australia but has done remarkably well since coming to Singapore but trainer Desmond Koh believes he will be a even better horses the next season.

"He’s still improving and still a bit shy. He’s a big, strong horse and if we can get him to relax, he can easily go over longer distance and take on the mile," said Koh.

Nunes went on to land another win on PEREGRINE FALCON to bring his tally to 90 for the season.

After playing second fiddle to Joao Moreira last year, he is set to win his first title in Singapore, adding to the six titles he won in Macau.
