Nunes back in action with a double

SINGAPORE: Dec 5, 2014

Manoel Nunes returned to racing tonight after spending several weeks on the sidelines due to injury and promptly booted home a double astride AUREUS and DANNY.

AUREUS, who narrowly landed his maiden win in his 18th start last time out, had it much easier this time around, winning comfortably by one and a half lengths.

Nunes had scored on DANNY earlier in the season and the pair were hard pressed this time, winning by a head to the relief of many punters who sent him out the favourite in the Class 4 - 1700m handicap. It was the gelding's sixth win in 54 starts.

Nunes' absence in the last few weeks has not threatened his position at the top of the jockey's table. He is assured of his first Singapore championship with 104 winners currently, 25 ahead of second-placed Danny Beasley with just three race days left in the season.
