Two jockeys fly in for Singapore Gold Cup

Australian jockey Glen Boss, who won three Melbourne Cups with the legendary mare MAKYBE DIVA from 2003-05, will fly in specially to ride WAIPAPA in the Singapore Gold Cup this Sunday.

Boss goes to scale at 50kg, the same weight WAIPAPA (Align - Chateau View by Crested Wave) has been alloted in the 2200m Gold Cup which has 16 runners and one emergency acceptor.

A multiple Group 1 winning jockey, Boss, 40, also won the Cox Plate in 2005 with MAKYBE DIVA and just two weeks ago, won the Cox Plate again with the Malaysian-owned and Bart Cummings-trained SO YOU THINK (High Chaparral - Triassic by Tights).

Boss is not new to Singapore. He made two similar big-race appearances at Kranji on Singapore Airlines International Cup day in 2005 and 2007.

Boss has picked up five other riders, ONELASTIME, NICHOLSON, GOOD FEEL, JE PEUX and WORLD EXCELLENCE on Sunday.

Also flying in for the Singapore Gold Cup is Hong Kong jockey Eddy Lai Wai Ming, 35, who will be making first visit to Kranji.

Lai has been booked to ride IMPERIAL GREEN (Senor Pete - Geneva by Warsaw Pact) for trainer Stephen Gray in the Gold Cup. He goes to scale at 50kg.

He will also partner NEFERTITI, ZAC STAR DESTROYER, OTOMODACHI, JUNGLE PRINCE and MY FACE on Sunday.

Lai has ridden about 220 winners, with his highest accolade earned in the Hong Kong Classic Mile (Hong Kong Group 1) with SELF FLIT in 2003.
