Kumarentheran was originally charged for contravention of MRA Rule 204(3)(ii) in connection with his urine sample taken on 31 August 2006 testing positive for "Methamphetamine", a prohibited substance under MRA Regulation 46.2 and disqualified one year.

His appeal against the sentence was heard by the Selangor Turf Club Racing Stewards today.

After considering submissions from Kumarenthenran and the Chief Stipendiary Steward (M), and after considering all the evidence, the Racing Stewards found Kumarentheran guilty of the charge, however after considering the evidence in migitation, reduced the penelty to a six-month suspension. His deposit was refunded.
