Three Rings Trophy on Feb 19

SINGAPORE, 17 January 2006

The Group 3 Three Rings Trophy, which was originally scheduled for the meeting of Jan 8 that was cancelled, has been re-scheduled for Sunday, Feb 19. The race, which is for three-year-olds, will be re-opened for entries.

The Singapore Turf Club has also decided to change the race meeting this Friday from a turf meeting to a fibresand meeting in view of the heavy rain which had fallen on the track since early this month.

Nearly 500mm of rain was recorded at the Singapore racecourse from January 1 to 13. This move is to safeguard the StrathAyr Turf Track as running two consecutive turf meetings (Jan 20 and 22) could cause significant damage as the track is still soft. The extensive racing programme over the Chinese New Year period was also taken into consideration in making this change.

The replacement meeting scheduled for Jan 31 (3rd day of Lunar New Year) will be a turf meeting. Therefore, to reduce the load on the StrathAyr Turf Track during that period, (4 race meetings over 10 days), the race meeting of Feb 3 has been changed to a mixed meeting.
