Singapore cancels August 18 meeting

SINGAPORE,  7 July 2006
There will be no racing in Singapore for two weeks during the second and third weeks of next month.

The Singapore Turf Club has decided to cancel the meeting scheduled for August 18 in order to carry out major maintenance on the Fibresand Track from July 31. To carry out this maintenance, the Fibresand Track will be closed for about two weeks; from July 31 to about August 13.

The Singapore Turf Club said the cancellation of the Aug 18 meeting is necessary to allow trainers sufficient time to get horses race fit for the fibresand race meeting scheduled for August 25.

To make up for this, the Club will be holding race meetings on October 4 and November 22. These Wednesday night meetings will coincide with Hong Kong race meetings with simulcast from Happy Valley on the same evenings.
