Charles Leck fined S$30,000

SINGAPORE,  23 November 2005

Singapore trainer Charles Leck was fined S$30,000 for MUSCLE MAN failing its pre-race blood test on Oct 29, when the horse was withdrawn from racing.

At the conclusion of an inquiry last week, Leck, the trainer of the horse, pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rules of Racing 203.(b) of the Malayan Racing Association. The particulars are as follows:

1. That he, Charles Leck, a trainer licensed by the Malayan Racing Association, was the trainer and person responsible for MUSCLE MAN accepting to run in the seventh race at the Singapore Turf Club Meeting on Saturday, Oct 29, 2005. Subsequently, MUSCLE MAN failed its Pre-Race Blood Test when a Pre-Race Blood Sample showed a TCO2 level in excess of the threshold level of 36 millimoles per litre and as such, it is a prohibited substance as defined under the MRA Rules of Racing.

When deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into account his record and guilty plea. Trainer Leck was fined a sum of S$30,000. He was advised of his right of appeal.
